  • I decided to take the Chevelle out for a drive today & my radiator temp jumped to 250+🌡
    🥵 I Had to replace burned wires, use a bigger fuse and, run the fuse off the battery, use a 10 gauge wire to support two electric fans.

    Beautiful ride! I have a 1970 Chevelle too and have the same issue with overheating. I also have a twin fan setup, but can't keep it cool. Thanks for sharing your experience!

      Yea, I have been having trouble with the cal. When I tune it, it runs great then it goes out of tune again.

    Is that a March pulley kit? If so, was there any problem having in installed? Got a 454 in my 68 Impala SS, and thinking about getting a pulley kit.

      I really can’t say, because it was on the engine before I got the car. Thanks for watching 💪

    2 fans will pull more than 30 amps....surprised it wasnt blowing them from the get go. Should run each fan on separate circuit with its own relay. I also see alot of people use aluminum crimps instead of copper and the aluminum creates more resistance and gets hot and will burn the wires.

    • @musclecargang
      @musclecargang  Před rokem

      That’s a great idea to run them on their own separate circuit. I will look into that. I have them running on a 40 amp now.

      @@musclecargang what happens also is alot of people put those $8 autozone relays in and even though their rated for 40 amps the relay burns out after a year or 2. If I had to use one relay for 2 fans I would spend a little more and get one rated for 50 or 60 amps. It cant hurt and they last longer.

      No, that’s solid advice and I thank you for sharing. I believe I’m just going to upgrade my electric fans when I do my LS swap.

    I've got the Champion Cooling system in my bb chevelle and it works great. What deg thermostat do you run? Call the company who makes the system and ask them. Did it just start doing it or is it a new system.

      Thanks for sharing. It just started out of the blue. It jumped to 250 degrees in 15min! So, now let me double check on that thermostat this week.

      Depends on your setup. My big block in the summer time runs around 190 in 90+ degree temperature. To keep a big block cool you need a efficient combination.
