- What’s going on guys and welcome to today’s instalment of Beyond The Mask. I have so many like different pieces of news that I was initially going to cover everything in one video, but honestly I don’t really like the Scream news overlapping onto news that’s generally just horror related, so for this video I want to discuss with you guys the latest teases that a new A Nightmare On Elm Street may be in the works at Blumhouse, with a script already existing and so much more details to throw around. So before we all get too excited, let me start from the beginning on where these teases come from…

Any time someone from Hollywood adds these three words: "A modern take" I rather not say anything futher.
"A modern take" can be a bit difficult. Sometimes, it seems like it means "we took a bunch of elements from different rejected projects and hoped for the best"
Hope. Blumhouse. Doesn't. Ruin. Nightmare. On Elm Street like they Did Halloween
They most likely will ruin it 😂😂. Blumhouse has a bad track record with horror lately 😂😂
Blumhouse Halloween films made more money than any of the Halloween films in 40 years
@@nalleinsowilo6268And? That doesnt mean its good 😂
@@leohcarrillo2981 exactly, my thoughts exactly 😂 lol
I don’t think they ruined it tbh the last film was a bit different tbh and didn’t like how Michael not being in it much but it was still good
I would have Vecna’s actor replace Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger since he can portray a dream inspired character
I would be ok with that as he was great as Vecna...Also Robert England was in season four of ST lol.
If Heather is back on board as a lead with a new group of kids then I’m excited. Hopefully they keep the original script idea where one of his victims was her sister
Brad Miska of Bloody Disgusting already debunked this under the official announcement over on twitter.
He would though, because they’re trying to keep it secret, no?
@@jadegunner9234 Me personally, I don’t think it’s worth being THAT tight lipped about. I know not too many properties are that revered and old but not even H18 and the Crystal Lake show got that treatment. And someone in the comments mentioned before deleting they said “an original story”.
@@jadegunner9234 Many in the quotes and comments felt it in their bone it was Nightmare but there were some on the side it wasn’t without hesitation and I think he said it to clear the air now so nobody gets any hopes up like earlier in the year with rumors of bids.
Robert could absolutely still return while honoring all his stipulations. All they have to do is have him do Freddy’s voice and facial expressions. Let a body double do the body work. With the exception of maybe a couple flicks of the glove done by Robert. Then let cgi do its job. It’s honestly not bad for replacing actors faces. They do that all the time and people don’t notice. It’s the best idea for a sequel to make money and give a real rematch between Nancy and Freddy.
@@Lawlllz no, just no lol
lee cronin spent this last 9 months or so working on a monster horror script called “Thaw” He has stated many times his new/next project is an original. The “Ancient” bit may refer to the project/script being set under the ice.
The Wes Craven Estate has had the rights to Elm Street et all since 2019 roughly. There was a rumour last year they were shopping the rights about to create something new. WB may have bid for them but there is nothing to be found
Wes ended the series on New Nightmare, so i think a sequel to that would be cool. So many characters they could bring back. Could be fun.
I just want a sequel to part 1, 2, or 3. I have an idea that may sound stupid but if they did a sequel to Dream Warriors, they could have Nancy be alive where it's revealed at the end of part 3, she was dead for a few minutes but was brought back like Kirby and Nancy's funeral was a dream Neil had.
You might just get your wish...
Sounds just so stupid. I’d rather they just bring in new characters and start a new movie. We don’t need to bring back final girls for a new movie
or they go with the comic book continuation that had Nancy existing in the Dream world as a positive force based on the idea that Kristen said "I'm gonna dream you into a beautiful dream" and Kristen's dream power kinda saves her
@@AdrianGarcia-qd1hsNo need to be fucking rude
@@AdrianGarcia-qd1hsI would much rather they bring someone like Jesse back than make some poorly written nobody played by someone that likely can’t act, judging off pretty much every final girl we’ve gotten in the last 10+ years
For me a great way to return the franchise is the script from Peter Jackson in which Freddy is terrorized by Teenagers because he is weak since no one is scared of him anymore. Then something goes wrong and he regain he’s strenght. I think would be an interesting way to do it.
Terrible.
isn't that basically the plot of Freddy vs Jason?
Robert England just says he's too old to play Freddie...but money talks and bullshit walks! 😂
What I liked about Blunhouse’ Halloween was the continuation of the Laurie story arc. If Heather Langenkamp comes back, will we see the same and then transition into Miko Hughes’ arc as well?
Once Robert decided he was too old to return as Freddy, what if he was still hired as an on-set expert to help direct the actor who ends up cast as Freddy. Many movies hire experts in martial arts, stunts, dance, etc... to coach the lead actors. Who better than Robert to ensure the new actor has the posture and movement that Robert made so famously part of the Freddy character. Even doing the voice in ADR would be possible, but not necessary if he's coaching/directing the actor.
A survivor's movie would be the best way to go.
I would like a New Nightmare sequel
Me too it is one of my favorite movies ever 😊❤
@@justineves3588Same with me.😃 As much as I love all the films, New Nightmare really does it for me. Heather Langenkamp was freaking phenomenal in it. All that physicality they gave her to do. That freeway scene was so intense! Then when she started down that slide! I love that movie.😃
If it is true, then it sounds crazy to include the sequels as you said. But then the legacy is pretty big for elm street.
Well there is that deleted scene from the first movie where Nancy's mom tells her about how freddy killed all of their older siblings when Nancy and her friends were very young, if they wanted to go a prequel route
😂😂😂 Since it was a deleted scene how would it be reintroduce to the film? And a Prequel to horror films are bad cause it's the 1st, so 90% chance everyone but the killer is dying....
In Wes Craven's New Nightmare Nancy describes Freddy as an ancient thing 😮😮😮 something ancien
I would not describe A Nightmare on Elm Street or Freddy Kruger as "Ancient". Maybe it's a Lovecraft thing. Ancient is an unusual word to choose.
You can't have Elm Street without Freddy and Robert said he is done
I can't see rob Englund coming back 😔 ive always wanted Alice my fave horror heroine to come back as she didn't have a closure story after part 5 😕 maybe have her come back to springwood to avenge Jacobs death and have Nancy come back in the dream world to help her. That would be my dream sequel 😁
This might not be a very popular thought, but I honestly wouldn't mind another remake AS LONG as they get someone that knows what they're doing and actually cares about the source material who isn't just in it for the money.
Like Christopher Landon?
I remember the writer of the 2010 remake saying in some interview/dvd extra that it was exciting to give Freddy a back story since he never had one 🤨😒🙄
@@ms.carriage6867 Seriously?
@@alabamafreak Yep. My jaw hit the floor when he said that
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO Blumhouse needs to be kept far away from Nightmare! It's not that I can't see a new story with Nancy but Wes Craven already gave us an excellent follow up with New Nightmare and I can't see it being topped and if Robert is not willing to come back then there is no point!
Warner Bros. has a tendency to be scared of new adaptations for things that didn’t work. Case and point? Ryan Reynold as GL. The remake scared them. I’ve never been a big Elm Street fan, so I don’t care either way, but a direct sequel to the original is the best way to go. Go ahead and follow the trend, and kick off a new chapter to that original film. Have Heather pass the torch, allat stuff. Definitely keep Freddy’s playful and sadistic personality, but we definitely need the scarier aspects of the character back.
Where he cackled with insane joy in the first one, it was pretty horrifying.
What if it's Not Elm Street?
What if it's WISHMASTER, now that's something Ancient, The Djinn.
Now that's something that I'd love to see, especially after those God awful sequels.
"Is aahh! that what you would like to see aaah!....
.....DONE!!!
"You're wish is my command" ❤❤❤
They could do a sequel without mentioning anything previous, even not mentioning his backstory, but if they make a prequel to an early movie ignoring all the later ones, that would just lead to the same mess that halloween has become. I also think getting rid of the dark humor and self irony that developed over time in the series, would be a mistake.
I hope it's true it's been too long since we got an Elm Street movie
Great opening to the video. Awesome to see more than just Scream news. Though we love it! Cheers!!
But really any "new" Elm Street news I'm skeptical about just from the fact Wes Craven is passed and Robert Englund said at this time he doesn't feel physically capable to play Freddy.
Maybe just retire the franchise and the characters. But that's just me.
Let’s not not forget, it may be house on haunted Hill or 13 ghost, think about it….
I'm liking a prequel then starting a new chain of events. Either way bringing all the 80's classic is a win.
Yes a new Nightmare Film would be so good, and I agree make it set years into the future after Nightmare 1 and having Nancy and Marge Thompson back and the same actors return. I think the role of Freddy could go to Devon Sawa who has expressed playing the role in interviews. He has made a big come back into the Horror Genre and I'd even love to see him appear in Scream 7 maybe as Kerry Russell's (fingers crossed she is in the movie) husband. He would be very scary and bring a Englund type of essence to the role. Nancy's kids would be leads also and having the nightmares that then brings the Freddy character back into Nancy's mind.
I don't need a requel of Nightmare, it's not necessary. We can have Langenkamp and Englund back for cameos, that could be pleasant, but move on to other horizons.
I hope it better then the remake
🤭
Dysentery and projectile vomiting are better than the remake
Completely agree!!
I thought I remembered the rights for story/characters went over to Wes Craven's estate and WB no longer needed to be involved with a new film. Of course I could be wrong but that's my vague memory from just a few years ago, that the estate was open to hearing pitches.
That's where the last real news left off.
This news of a bidding was and wb being apart is all new...
they should just do a direct sequel to the first one and then it'll work
This is over done and I don’t want to see it. Just make another sequel
@AdrianGarcia-qd1hs then why did you respond if you don't like the idea then you don't need to be here
I'm tired of this formula it's overdone now.
@@saadikgoldsmith5290 this is a really dumb comment to make. For one it’s public and we’re having a discussion. I can disagree with a formula that has been done to death already.
@AdrianGarcia-qd1hs then why even respond if you don't like it don't respond at all
Has there been Any updates with his scream book? I seriously want to order it
Yes, Heather must come back as Nancy Samara could easily play Nancy’s daughter. They look like they could be related easily.
Would like to see Alice return too but would not mind a whole reset. Take up where number one left off.
I hope this is true
You keep part 3 cannon but you make Nancy like an Obi Won Kenobi type character where she perhaps helps people in their dreams. That would still keep her a foil gor Freddy.
I mean, Nancy could have kids and her fear for them reawakens Freddy. 🤷🏼♀️
Could be kids or grandkids, depending on the setting, as I think Heather Langenkamp is about 60 now
I’d love a sequel or requel or revival, especially if Heather Langenkamp is in it. Just PLEASE don’t let David Gordon Green anywhere near it. Not after what he did with Halloween Ends.
As much as I love all the films, New Nightmare really does it for me. Heather Langenkamp was freaking phenomenal in it. All that emotional and physicality work they gave her to do was fantastic! That freeway scene was so intense! Then when she started down that slide! I love that movie.🍿
You know I wouldn't get too excited about this and I'm going to tell you why. It's right there in the quote a modern take on something ancient modern take? Modern take? Modern take! Modern take! Yeah it's going to suck guys
I agree
Perhaps they can use CGI on Robert England to make him look like he use too
If they don’t retcon NOES they can always go the route of Nancy being dead and helping the new cast as a ghost in the house and in the kids dreams. I’d prefer this route if the series goes into a darker direction. It would be cool to see the movie play out as a haunting of sorts but also a slasher.
Look I know how some people feel about Blumhouse me personally I don’t hate them but they do have hits like Halloween (2018), Megan, Freaky & The Happy death day movies imo but have misses like Black Christmas (2019), The Purge Franchise (except the first 2) & Amityville : the awakening imo but ultimately I’m begging for Blumhouse to make a nightmare on elm street film because we need Freddy back in the big screen and as a horror fanatic I rather have something than nothing at all. Also yes I’m aware we all want a Friday the 13th film as well but we at least getting a camp crystal lake series while you can’t say that to my favorite slasher aka Freddy Kruger he literally has nothing. It’s time to introduce a new nightmare for this generation.
2018 sucked and is overrated!
I'd like to see a combination of the son of a hundred maniacs glove and the 2010 remake glove
Make a sequel to dream warriors. Ignore 4,5 and 6.
Bring back Kristen from dream warriors as an adult helping the new kids having nightmares. Have the kids looking up stuff online from 1984/87 referring to the original and dream warriors. Cast an actor who can act similar to Robert England, and keep him in the shadows and scary. Boom. They should give me a job
I would like to see another a nightmare on elm street with nancy 😊❤
I'd be interested in a prequel.. call it simply elm st
I know Robert said he wouldn’t return due to the physical ness of it but couldn’t they stick the dots on his face and do cgi?
I don't think it's related. If it was there would be a subsequent set of credits (which likely would be scribbled out) and I don't think it would be credited as an "Original Screenplay" either.
In my Opinion: The first is a classic. The 2nd, 3rd and 7th one are good. It should be a sequel just from after the third one.
Until there's an official announcement there isn't a new movie.
They could do a modern reboot
I love this and I love Freddy Krueger.
I'd like to see something similar to what blumhouse did with the Halloween movie's instead of another remake of the First movie
Or just make a new sequel thats connected to every movie instead of retconning
keep all the sequels- and Nancy is the oppsite of freddy in the dreams. She protects all the teens ! DUUUHHHH!!!!
It will be like Nightmare on Elm Street: Believer? If it is better don’t do it. Heather is welcomed to come back but as another character for god’s sake. There is no reason to ignore a Nightmare on Elm Street 3.
His project is not Elm Street.
I THINK THEY SHOULD MAKE A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET THE DREAM POLICE WITH JOEY TARAYN AND KINCADE COME BACK AS THE DREAM POLICE
I think if they do remake bring robert Englund to direct it sense he dont wanna be freddy no more
Everyone crying about Blunhouse destroying Halloween yet the only good A Nightmare on Elm Streets were part one and A New Nightmare. Wes Craven was attached to those as he never saw Nightmare as a franchise and never wished to continue after the original movie. He only made A New Nightmare because he hates the sequels and was making fun of Hollywood
13 ghost came out in 1960,, and house on haunted Hill in 1959, I may be reaching but that would be ancient and something we seen before and both were under Warner brothers just saying, and I may be wrong
Of course, Langenkamp wants in. What has she done lately???
She would've been great as Rogue in an XMEN film in the 80s
🤔 nothing
Had a cameo in a Hellraiser film seven years ago
She was just in Mike Flanigan The Midnight Club and she just filmed a new Stephen King movie
I see what you're saying. But her and her husband run a successful Effects Studio that does stuff for TV and Movies and she doesn't need to act.
But yeah if they want her there's nothing wrong with making some extra money.
For me you can't revive Elm Street. It's not like the other bit slashers where they're silent and masked so the actors can change easily. There is no Freddy without Robert Englund. Halloween Ends and Exorcist: Believer haven't given me faith in Blumhouse picking up a classic franchise and treating it well.
The H in Homage is silent
Gotta be a legacy or a requal
If they do it, maybe one of the dream warriors little brother or sis moves back to elm st‼️ They find out how there siblings really dies an goes down a rabbit hole to find out who an how Freddy came to be, an then find Nancy an beg her for help being she survived the first film. That would be dope, call backs an all legacy characters brought back 🔥🔥🔥 use the Mike myers treatment, a classic tale introduced to a new audience.Something that takes place after the first, a alternate universe.Where part 2 an 3 never happen, just like they did with myers
Stop with the legacy sequel BS.
@@jdogjohnson382 nahh I think you need to stop being a hater ‼️ lol 😂
@@jdogjohnson382 Agree it's so overdone at this point lol
@SonOfThe215_ who said I was a hater don't put words in my mouth it's idiots like you who assume I hate something without facts. I love elm street I just don't want the halloween treatment because I wasn't a fan of that approach.
But if they ignored all the sequels (or most of them), think of all the people who will have died in vain!
I don't want no retcon BS.
Let elm street die without Robert Englund it wouldn't be the same and Nancy is dead she died in 3 Heather Langenkamp played herself in New nightmare I don't want no retcon bullshit.
I’d LOVE a new nightmare on elm street. But Robert has to be Freddy or it’s a no for me.
🤭
I'm all horror, all the time🤩. I'm more excited for Scream 7 tho. It's gonna Rock! Wohoo!🎊🥳
I hope this isn't true. They butchered Halloween I don't need them messing up any more of my favorite slashers. The Duffer Brothers would be my top choice. Stranger Things Season 4 felt like an Elm Street movie
Halloween butchard itself.
It was trash from 78
Too bad this won't happen that 2010 remake was a joke
It will happen
I hope this isn't true . They will ruin it .
First I guess haha
IF IT'S GONNA BE A.N.M.O.E.S. 2010 ALL OVER AGAIN WILL EQUAL.🚫RING B🚫RING
I have a pitch that I'd love for them to do with the franchise. And it keeps Part 3 canon and has Nancy return.
Which is keep Part 1 & 3 canon. Make a sequel that takes place after Part 1, Before Part 3, and have a de-aged Nancy Thompson fight Freddy Krueger and have it feel like it sets up Part 3. A prequel telling a new better origin story for Freddy Krueger, and have Freddy be the main character, with Nancy's father go against Freddy.
Sequels to Part 3 set decades after it. (Optional)
And perhaps a prequel to Part 3 where Freddy Krueger could haunt The Dream Warriors and give a bigger impact to them being in the mental hospital. And even reveal Freddy Krueger cut a kid's eyelids open. (Fun, but optional, and probably wouldn't make sense timeline wise.)
But if there is gonna be a new Elm Street movie, it prob will have Part 1 canon, which I wouldn't mind. All I hope is that it's a great film.
You need to see Don't Fall Asleep it's a fan film that follows this idea. It's fantastic
@@priscillaposey3898 Dammit, another one of those "when you have an idea but see someone else already did and done it before you."
I'll definitely check the fan film.
maybe they need to just not bring nancy back and start fresh with new people
They could do like they did with Halloween and continue the story of Nancy 30 years later after the events of A nightmare on Elm Street. Heather and Samara would be perfect as Mother Daughter.
I'm tired of this formula.
Blumhouse. Thats all I need to know. Its gonna be shit
I hope this isn’t true. Blumhouse already destroyed Halloween.. They made two pretty good movies.. surprising me. Then they made that absolute abomination of a third film, destroying everything.. and one Michael Myers can take on an entire crowd of armed people. The next movie he’s getting his ass kicked by a punk kid. And then at the end it gets taken out with ease by an old woman and another punk kid. And the story and writing was terrible if that wasn’t bad enough. And now they’re going to destroy Elm Street.. OK. After what you did on Halloween, I won’t be watching it anyway.
First... Do Heather Langenkamp was not died in the third movie and was seen again in the 7 last movie like if it will been real life horror... do it is the new movie that will follow the new nightmare or an another remake without Robert England
Second... it would be nice to seen all the survivors all together from all movies exclude those who appears in 2 movies and been Killed in the following movie... i seen about 3-7 peoples that can be nice that been appear again and re-face Freddy again on ELM street 2 if i remember there 2 survivors that never appear again if Heater Langenkamp never died in the third movie to appear in the last one on the last movie they used theire real name before using back the act name... Elm street 5 there 2 survivors plus the baby, the 6th one have 3 survivors... if they all appear in the movie it can be awesome
Blumhouse fucking sucks. They gonna be known as the cult classic killers
