    You need to watch the other parts to this video. The 1986 World Cup and his time at Napoli make him the ‘greatest’ player of all time. I’d say only Messi was better cause of stats and longevity but no one compares to Maradonas greatness.

    The true GOAT. Played in an era where players were given no protection and terrible pitches. What he did in 86 WC and at Napoli will never be surpassed. Napoli had won nothing before he arrived and won two league titles and a European trophy. They only won their third ever title last season, the first since he left.

    The fact that Maradona had a break that was that bad, shows how tough he was, that was before he Conquered Serie A with Napoli, which was the toughest league in the world at the time, and it was before he dragged Argentina to a World Cup in 86, pretty much by himself. Back then it was not just "The Butcher" Pro leagues all over the world were much rougher, and Defenders would actually try and injure the opposition a lot, in Maradona's case, a hell of a lot, that makes his dribbling more impressive than Messi's. Messi probably has slightly better close control to be fair to him, but Maradona was hurdling challenges that were trying to break his leg 1 after the other. Diego vs Messi in a fight? only one winner, and that's Diego, tough little bastard, and he also was a far better Captain than Messi, as he brought the best out of players he played with.
    To Me Maradona is what happens when you cross the skill of Messi, with the game IQ of Zidane, and the Captain ability of someone like Gerrard or a Roy Keane,a more recent example would be Kompany for Man City, but all 3 of these players made everyone around them play better, but none of them had Messi/Diego levels of Skill, Zidane did, and for me is up there with Maradona as a result, because he also had that leadership quality, although Messi does not have that same ability to lead.
    Diego was something else, and is ahead of Zidane for me because he won stuff with inferior teams, than Zidane, and also had the break, which make his achievements that little bit more special IMO

    From poverty, dangerous neighborhoods, hunger, Maradona was forged in adversity, that made him grow and be who he was.
    Maradona's level in the 1986 World Cup is the highest level of a player in history. Pelé scored more goals and won world championships alongside giant stars, in fact he did not play all the games. Messi has broken all records, but nobody reached the level of a god, only Maradona.

    Im from Argentina Bronco, what he means about Diego being "black" is not related to racism, but more like some classism. Here the word "negro" can be used in a despective form or in a friendly way. But mostly the despective way to say "negro" is when you have trouble, or are you talking about bad people from the slums, and also can be used for not slum people when doing something they shouldn't, or doing something bad like damaging something on the street, or throwing thrash at the park.

    At the start it said that England fans hate him. The reason they hate him is because the Hand of God goal was against England in the quarter finals of the World Cup 86 and that goal would win Argentina the game

      @Bruno-jf3cb Před 2 lety +2

      you forgot about the goal of the century tho...

    • @temporaryuseraccount0012
      @temporaryuseraccount0012 Před 2 lety

      Exactly! The so-called "Hand of God" is basically an 'illegitimate goal' that Maradona scored using his hand (a handball) against England in a game which finished 2-1 to Argentina. i.e. Argentina won the game due to Maradona's illegitimate handball not being correctly spotted or disallowed by the referee.
      So to answer the question of: "What did Maradona do to England?" is that he basically cheated in order to win the game which knocked England out of the 1986 World Cup. So clearly, England fans are fully justified to feel that way about the person who cheated to knock them out of the tournament.

    • @Bruno-jf3cb
      @Bruno-jf3cb Před 2 lety

      @@temporaryuseraccount0012 well englishman can't complain because they beat Germany at the world cup final with a goal that didn't cross the line.. so..

    • @temporaryuseraccount0012
      @temporaryuseraccount0012 Před 2 lety

      @@Bruno-jf3cb That could be argued too admittedly. However, whether or not a ball passes the goal line is entirely on the officials and no blame could be placed on the player who themselves made no transgressions, but tried to score legitimately.
      Whereas, a deliberately handballed goal, is largely on the player themselves. Especially when said player is aware and deliberately intended to cheat and then encourage his team-mates to likewise con the referee as Maradona did with his handball. Also, it wasn't the only time he deliberately cheated like this.

    • @Bruno-jf3cb
      @Bruno-jf3cb Před 2 lety

      @@temporaryuseraccount0012 I'm not talking about the players, nor the officials, and not denying the fact that was an illegal goal, what I'm trying to say is that it's kinda hypocritical to be mad at Diego for that goal, when your people celebrated a goal that hadn't crossed the line, altought England has won by a two goal difference, it's something that changed the match because it was the advantage goal, and years after the official claimed he didn't see the ball crossing, so, it makes me believe it could be an arranged match, and if it were, what Maradona did was paying England with the same coin. And if not, well, England has a long story stealing all around the world, so it's the same.
      And adding something more that makes it more poethical, the game was two years after Malvinas war, I know England had occupied the islands long-long time ago, and it all started because a drunk-fucker didn't wanna give up power, but a reason why England had won that war it's because the sinking of a ship outside the war zone.
      Altought Maradona maybe didn't precisely knew all this facts, he was a victim to war-propaganda, and when he went to the field, he was going to do anything to win

    To be clear about what he said when described Napoli, in Italy exist strong division between south and north (its not a political division of the territory but more of a popular conception)
    Basically, the North part of Italy is the Rich part, and the south is the poor part of the country. The North of Italy is on the Alps, right next to Switzerland, Austria, Eslovenia, etc. While the southern half is on the mediterranean, and closer to Africa, Greece, and so its people has a darker skin (Around 60% of Argentinas population has some amount of Italian blood, mostly from the south).

    The "Africans of Italy" in the South of Italy they have a lot of African Heritage. Many wars in the Mediterranean over thousands of years between factions in Southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, so the Mediterranean is a big mix of European , North African and MIddle Eastern Gene's. Unfortunately there is some racism in Europe associated with factions/tribes from back in the day (Celts, Saxon's, Slavs, Ioanian tribes (greece/italy), Berber ancestors, Semites, and many many many many others lool) Europe is a bit of mish mash of these and many other factions/tribes, So a lot of tensions around that (and not only but also including race too).
    So in Countries like Spain, Italy, France Greece etc you get a north south cultural divide and race is tied into that, although it's a little more complex than just that. Sad to say Europe and the Mediterranean in general has seen more than its fair share of fighting over the Milenia

    To to answer the question of: "What did Maradona do to England?" is that he basically cheated in order to win the game which knocked England out of the 1986 World Cup. So clearly, England fans are fully justified to feel that way about the person who cheated to knock them out of the tournament.

      Although I’m English. I believe that second goal was one of the best goals of all time.

      Just to add to the lore of this match, actually at the time this match was played Argentina and England were in hot wars for the Falkland islands, which were dominated by the english killing thousands of Argenitinians. Basically Maradona being the captain and star of the Argentinian team swore to everybody he'd destroy England in that match, scoring not only one if not the best goal in history (not only for the goal but the context) and the famous "hand of god"

      @@gaiden8039 Argentine bias detected. This is a football game, not a political debate. As for the "Falklands" so-called 'war' ... A conflict which began with Argentina invading and occupying two British dependent territories located in the south Atlantic (Crown colony since 1841).
      Those islands inhabitants were predominantly descendants of British settlers, who strongly favoured British sovereignty. As such they were under the protection of Great Britain and so Britain defended and protected their own British nationals from a foreign invasion.
      The conflict lasted 74 days and ended with an Argentine surrender on 14 June "1982" (four years prior to this World Cup match in 1986).
      If you believe Argentina had a right to start the "war" by invading, occupying and claiming those islands as their own, then you'd also have to support a potential invasion of the USA by Mexico doing likewise. And how do you imagine that would end, hrm? You think the USA would allow Mexico to invade and occupy the United States which is populated by mainly US citizens and claim that land as belonging to Mexico with no response? Of course not.
      Argentina started the Falklands conflict by invading and occupying foreign territories that they had no political right or claims to. Then in response to that unprompted attack, "Great Britain" (i.e. not just "England") ended the conflict by protecting it's citizens from that foreign Argentine invasion.

      Well it didnt matter after he scored the 2nd goal which was one of the best goals ever.
      And that in a World Cup Semi Final.

      @@PassportBro_ You mean the "second goal", which "legally" would have been the first and "only" legitimate goal for Argentina in that match. Which would have resulted in a Argentina 1-1 England result at full time.
