I can’t believe this was six years ago I remember watching this like it was yesterday !!!!
Yes, and the older you get the faster time goes by! Thanks for watching again! I'm flattered.
same! like wow time flies
Me too
I just have to tell you that your videos are my four-year-old daughter's favorite things to watch. We have seen them a dozen times and she will probably watch them that many again or more. She's just about got them all memorized. Lol! Awesome work! They are all fantastic!
+Devon Stewart
Thanks for the nice note Devon! I appreciate the nice remarks. I'm very happy that your daughter likes the videos. She must have very good taste!
Take care
Dan
This is incredible! YOU are incredible! I'm an artist as well and now I want to get my hands on some paper mâché. I will definitely send you a picture when I'm finished. Thank you so much for taking the time to share and teach others your craft! ❤️
Lindsay Wanner
Thanks for the nice note Lindsay! I'm very flattered. I'd love to see some of your work. Good luck!
Dan
Came across this only today due to a kind friend sharing it on facebook. So, naturally, I had to share it too, and tell everyone I could. Your work is inspirational and when you watch it, you end up with a lovely warm glow, because out there, are real artists doing amazing work, and sharing like this, so we can all have a go too, or at least feel a little better about the human race :) Thank you Dan, have a wonderful festive holiday (or Christmas if you prefer ;) ). David.
Wow, what a nice comment David! It is much appreciated!
Dan
Still come back to watch these I remember when I was a kid watching things videos and wishing I was able to make that lmao
I love how you nuzzle the dragon just like your cat! haha
Another amazing dragon!
I'm very glad you like it. And thank you for the nice comment. I really appreciate you taking the time to write.
Dan
Just love your work. I started on a dragon head back last year, having now seen your videos, it has inspired me to continue.
I love the way you do the eye lids and lips and will certainly be borrowing your techniques to finish my little project.
Great! Glad to hear it! Good luck to you!
Dan
It's a pleasure to watch this video, it was a lot of work but the result is amazing! Good health in achieving other wonderful things.

YOU ARE GORGEOUS!! Thanks for sharing. So many perfect details! My favorite part: min 2:54 hahahaha! "HELLO, NEW FRIEND...WELCOME HOME!"... lovely and cuttie!!!
Thank you for the nice note Berenice! I'm very flattered. I'm glad you like the ending with my cat Eddie. Take care
Dan
I am astounded each time I view your work! You seriously have mad skills!
Our school mascot is a blue dragon so I've always had a "thing" for them. lol Will be getting my very first tattoo this summer (at almost age 50) and yes, it will be a blue dragon. :-)
You are funny Debbie! I should have made another blue dragon. But I already have a big blue dragon trophy. You should make one for your school!
Dan
GourmetPaperMache Oh, I've thought about it. I had decided this past summer to spend my northern Michigan winter creating a bottle cap art mural with a blue dragon. It was to be on an 8x4 sheet of luan (sp?). I was going to donate it to our elementary school and knew just the perfect place for it. I advertised on Facebook for my friends to save all their pop bottle caps and I got started. Ya, my intentions were good. LOL I do consider myself a crafty gal but just not in bottle cap at. hehehe Luckily, I found a lady not far from me who was able to use all the caps for her own art projects so not waste there. whew!
People who can do this type of raw art are amazing. I can do some cool stuff with photography but I'm just capturing something where this is actual raw creation.. Amazing.
Wow, that's amazing!!! Truly talented!
Thank you Josh! I really appreciate the kind words.
Dan
Kat H
Thank you too Kat! Much appreciated.
Dan
Ive been looking all over you tube at dragons and this is definitely the BEST one I have found.....absolutely stunning.
I'm very happy you like it! Thank you for the nice remarks!
Next level! Thank you for sharing your process
You are very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to comment!
Hello! I love your work! Im just wondering what that white material you use is, like on the horns and the webbed part on the neck, i have been trying to figure it out for ages! You have inspired me to create my own (on a smaller scale haha) and im struggling to find the right materials?
Thank you, please keep it up your work is amazing!
Meg :)
He never answer u that no??? I was wodering 2 whats that material 🤔
I've missed your vids man
I just don't understand dan how your not huge on youtube already I don't know how you could get yourself out there more but I reckon if you did your subscriber numbers would explode, your defiantly in my top ten youtubers.!!
Thank you! It takes a long time to make these. It's hard to keep up. Sometimes I just need to make art and not worry about filming. But I try. Thanks for your comments. I'd love it if more people saw my videos. Maybe someday.
Take care
I was so excited to see you had posted another video. It has been far too long. Love watching you do your amazing craft. This is one of my favorites. Hope to be viewing you soon.
That is very nice of you to say. It just takes time to make these. I'll have to work faster. I really appreciate your support.
Dan
I've watched this video probably over 30 times, it never fails to amaze me
What a nice complement! I'm really happy you like it! Maybe it's just the music. People seem to like it. Thank you for writing
Dan
yeah the music is pretty great!
*****
You are very kind. Take care
Very amazing. I do my eyes with a clear concave stone and a piece of paper. It gives the eye the ability to follow you.
Your dragon head us awesome it makes me want to do a black skull head dragon.
Those eyes sound cool! What a great idea. I hope you got around to that project! (sorry I"m just seeing the comment now)
AND I CAN'T EVEN MAKE A DAMM PAPER AIRPLANE
Practice a little dude. You'll get the hang of it.
Toxic Tabby is actually correct. It's just practice. Give it a try. You'd be surprised.
GourmetPaperMache what do you youse for the eyes
GourmetPaperMache in the long run there's another few dragons from the legend of Zelda games like gleeok argorok and volvagia from ocarina of time fire temple that you can try in the long run late on if you've heard of those dragons or seen them in the games
LOL me too friend
oh man! You're so COOL!! I'm totally a big fan of dragons and now I saw your video and it was AWESOME!!! XD gonna subscribe :)
Youre so cool! I dont suppose Ive see anything like this before. So good to search out any individual with some unique thoughts on this subject. realy thank you for beginning this up. this video is one thing thats wanted on the internet, someone with somewhat originality. helpful job for bringing one thing new to the youtube!
You are very kind. Thank you for the nice remarks! Makes the work of making videos worth while.
Take care
Dan
I loved love dragons but your bundles as if they were real love
I'm just so obsessed with this...
OMG!! You are BRILLIANT (and talented!)
Well, what a nice comment! I am very flattered. Thank you so much Karla!
Dan,
You make great work and the fact that you respond to virtually every comment is almost saintly.
Thanks for the amazing work and taking the time to post it online for all of us.
That is very nice of you to say KnitOutTheJams! I think that if someone is willing to take the time to watch my videos and then write to me that the least I can do is respond. I did respond to every comment since I started CZcams, but a year ago, when Google took over CZcams, I lost my channel. They were able to retrieve my videos with the comments, but not my subscribers or any of my responses. That was such a bummer. I know you didn't need to hear all of that. But there it is. Thank you!
Dan
Hey,
I'm unhappy to hear you were in that kind of situation due to corporate monopolizing of The Internet even further than it already has been.
I'm sorry you had to go through all that but you've got a fresh and loyal subscriber here. Im so glad to see you are enjoying your well-earned retirement.
Thanks again! Talk anytime!
KnitOutTheJams
Sorry. I didn't mean to rant. Thank you for your support. I do these videos because of nice people like you.
Dan
Wow! Its fantastic!

GourmetPaperMache This is a great idea! I love dragons... I've seen, that you make drogon from Game of Thrones - amazing!
I would like make so a fantastic dragon too... 😅
(And sorry for my crazy english, but I'm from Germany and yeah...)
Give it a try. You would enjoy it.
GourmetPaperMache What material you used for the teeth? :D
I use Fimo, a polymer clay.
This is awesome. All your work is awesome! I've been watching your videos and wow, I'm just blown away. Congratulations for the great work and inspiration you bring to us all! Keep up the wonderful work. I'll make sure to always keep an eye on your new creations. Cheers from Brazil

Dan

Jeremias Klein
Sorry, I wasn't trying to push that. Just wanted you to know when I get done with my new one. Thank you again.
Dan
It's amazing but excuse me I'm from Mexico and I have a question to you who is the material that you using for the dragon fins... is gypsum???
SuperCampano He uses old bed sheets and elmers glue. You can watch the mask makeing tutorial, he explains how to use it in one of those videos :)
SuperCampano
Laerke (below) explains it perfectly. I call the process "cloth mache"
Dan
ohhh thanks 4 your answers, your work it's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! you're really artist
SuperCampano
You are welcome. Good luck!
That is awesome. You are very talented.
Beautiful work!! Inspirational! Truly, you are gifted!
Thank you very much Jenn! Your remarks are much appreciated.
Dan
Wow! You are truly a talented artist! Just amazing to watch your videos and what you create.
Thank you BOJ88! I appreciate the nice remarks.
Dan
What materials did you use to make the teeth and the fin webbing? Or are the teeth pre-bought?
I make the teeth out of Fimo. I use bed sheets dipped in white glue for the webbing.
GourmetPaperMache Alright, thank you very much!
Amazing! I've ordered your book, and I can't wait for it to arrive. Can I ask where you got the eyes you used for this dragon?
+Kemp Sparky
Sorry, for some reason I didn't see this comment. Hope you are underway!
He made them I believe using cabeshauns

PS what's the soundtrack?
+Katya Knightwolf
It's just practice Katya. Just keep working. The piece of music is called "Hard life." Don't know who performed it however. Sorry.
+GourmetPaperMache I mostly draw dragons but hope to be able to bring creations to life one day... course having little free-time doesn't help much :P
+Katya Knightwolf
It's true, you need time. Good luck with your art!
+GourmetPaperMache BTW, Beautiful Abyssinian kitty :3
+Katya Knightwolf
Thank you Katya. That is Eddie, one of my "helpers". I'll let him know you like him, but he'll probably just want a treat!

Dan
I found you while looking for inspiration and technique, Jackpot! you are priceless as both!
lisa bee Thank you Lisa. Good luck to you!Dan
I stumbled on to paper mache cuz I wanted to build my own scarecrow and couldn't find any large pumpkin heads to work with. I found that people on here were making their own out of paper. I watched dozens of videos before coming across yours and all I can say is WOW!! You are the master of this craft!! I never thought something like this could be taken to this level. Thanks for sharing your wisdom on this subject I've found it very useful.
You are very welcome. Thank you for the nice comment! I really appreciate your support. Good luck on your project!
Dan
This is amazing :) and stunning . I love your work :)
Crystal Varela
Thank you Crystal! I'm very flattered!
Dan
Love your videos, also like that your a cat man, shows you have great character.
You are funny. Thank you. I have three cats actually. Eddy, the one in this video, sleeps on my stomach every night. He's a great "helper" in my studio.
I really appreciate the nice remarks.
Dan
You and the cat at the end made this vid priceless.
I am absolutely awestruck by your talent (and your cat Eddie)!!!
Thank you Dan! I'm very flattered. I'll let Eddie know what you said, but he probably will just want a treat.
Dan
You are amazing! I have been searching for a creative outlet and you have inspired me! Thank you for sharing your talent. I have made my own dragon based on this video and the book I bought. I am a HUGE fan and hooked for life!
I'm very happy to help out! Congratulations on your project! Yes, it is a great medium for self-expression. Glad you are enjoying it.
Dan
just got started on making one of these....it looked like so much fun and the neat thing about dragons is that no two are alike. that means i get to have fun playing with the details!! just pulled the teeth out of the oven now.... thank you for posting this video, its a great how to guide and your work is amazing!
Thank you Amber. I'm glad you found the video useful! Good luck!
Dan
Incredible, what a work of art!
Thank you! I really appreciate the comment.
Dan
That was amazing. I quit doing paper mache a few years ago but now you have me interested again! Thank you.
I'm very happy you like the video Lindy! Thanks for the nice note. I'm flattered! Good luck on any project you start!
I LOVE this!! I've been wanting to create a dragon head for some time now and this is AWESOME! I've been wanting to use recycled materials in my art projects and you've inspired me.
Good to hear! Glad to help. Have fun Barbara!
Thank you! I have never considered using certain techniques the way you have. This video has been very enlightening.
You are welcome! Good luck!
DAn
Your work is awesome!
Thank you Christine!
Gorgeous!!! I love it!!! Super talent, right there! Kitty approved!
I Remember Watching This Video In Late 2014. I Always End Up Coming Back Here To Marvel At Your Creations. You've Actually Inspired Me To Heavily Consider Going Into The Arts Of Paper Mache. Also I'm Very Much Considering Buying Your Book.
Thank you. Glad you like my work! It's a great medium. Good luck!
Yet another beautiful creation.
Thank you!
you got yourself a fan and a sub sir. great piece of art
Thank you Murat! I am very happy to hear that you like this! Take care
Dan
Love love love your work it has inspired my wife my son and myself to all start doing these family projects. Can't wait to get your book. Incredible work, we are all fans at my house.
Thanks Matt! What a nice note! I hope you all have a great time. Let me know if you have questions. I'm happy to help out.
Have fun!
Dan
Amazing! What is that white like paper that you use after paper mache for the skin texture and hardness?
Thank you Victoria. After sculpting with the paper mache pieces I add a "skin" of cloth (old bed sheets) dipped in white glue (I prefer Elmer's Glue All). It is light, strong, and allows for detail that is hard to get with just paper. Take care
Dan
Thanks for the response Dan!!! It will be very useful for sure! Thanks for answering. Have a great day@@GourmetPaperMache_
Beautiful dragon. Great job.
Thank you for the very nice comment! It is much appreciated.
Dan
Very well made and well conceived. Fantastic!
Thank you very much Jacques! Your comment is much appreciated.
Dan
Fantastic, as always. This guy's face has so much personality.
Thank you Stella. That is always particularly flattering coming from such a fine artist. I loved your egg!
Dan
Hahahah I Love this work! And I love the part with the cat at the end! Hehe so adorable! LOL
Thank you! I'll tell little Eddie that you liked him.
Dan
Love the contrast of the blue eyes against the body color. Plus your cat is gorgeous. :)
Thank you Manny. Yes, I know the blue eyes would pop with those other colors. I'm glad you noticed. And I'll pass the compliment on to Eddie, although he'd rather just get a treat.
Take care
Dan
Wow, 9 years ago.. I remember watching all of your videos and wanting one so bad, I tried to make one using the video as a tutorial but the furthest I made it was the top and bottom jaw. Crazy how time flies though
Maybe I'll try again one day : )
Thank you for the very nice comment! Thank you for your kind words. Yes, you definitely should try this again! The video by itself is not a great tutorial. But I do show many projects made, step-by-step with commentary on my blog that would be very helpful. And I'm happy to answer questions. You would not regret the effort.
Take care
Dan
My favorite dragon trophy ever I can watch this for days. And would like to win this long ago as a prize.
Thank you Jacob! I'm very happy you like this particular project. Take care
If I had even one percent of this talent, I would be a happy camper. He makes the painting and finishing look so sooooo easy!
Thank you Barry. But the old adage is true, it's 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration. I'm just very well practiced.
Dan
Well I've pretty much watched all of this guy's videos. He is funny, informative, and extremely talented. I am a huge dragon lover and have been looking at different mediums in which to create with. After seeing his absolutely stunning work I am truly inspired to take up paper mache dragon making. Thank you so much Dan. My journey begins now! haha
Hey Dan, also a helpful idea for you since I'm sure people complain about your videos being too fast (which you said in your other video but I personally like how I don't have to wait for the action). There is a setting at the bottom of the video on CZcams in which the viewer can select the video playback speed. All they need to do is set the speed to 0.25 and there you have it. A slowed down version of your precision. Hope that helps! :)
a3883m Can you dry your paper mache in the oven? Say at 200 degrees for 15 minutes? I'm worried about mold buildup. Also, I have been using bigger pieces but they seem to be more difficult to keep down. Any suggestions?
a3883m
Hello a3883m. I appreciate all the nice comments! Thanks for telling people about the speed. They always want me to slow down. But it's time-lapse. It is shot at 1 frame per second. There is nothing to slow down. I would never dry the mache in the oven. It would dry on the outside but stay wet inside. Just put it someplace with warm circulating heat. Mold is only an issue if you don't let it dry thoroughly. Good luck!
Dan
Paper mache magic. Love your work.
Hey again. For some reason I missed a bunch of comments from 7 months ago. Just never got alerted by CZcams. Sorry again. And thank you again. I'm very flattered.
Dan
You know you had outdone yourself when your cat loves it
Yes, Eddie likes this one. Me too. Thank you!
Dan
I love what you did for the eyes.
+VortexGaming
Thank you! I used "blanks" for this project.
Dan
your work is just amazing! I've showed so many people your videos and each reaction is just the same: 'WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH' . just a quick question... when you do the black wash, do you do it when the paint is dry or still wet? Thanks!
Ik I'm not him but I can answer you lol. As far as I know from expirience u have to do it when it's dry because it will ruin the paint job and u have to start over
Wow that is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. True talent. You did an amazing job.
Thank you Abelardo! I really appreciate the kind words!
Dan
Gran lavoro di immensa pazienza amico mio ! GRANDEE!...Eccezionale !
Você é sempre muito apoio. Obrigado mais uma vez.
Dan
absolutely amazing. this is so spectacular i want to do this kind of thing! i paint on canvas but i can get a bit bored of it and need new stuff to keep me interested, this is exactly what i'd love to try get into (though i know it wont look half as good as yours) also, love the cat at the end, looks like he/she approved :) subscribing right now
+uniraptor the 3rd
Thanks for your kind words. Yes, that is Eddie, one of my "helpers".
Take care
Dan
zeer goed gemaakt en goed bedacht. Fantastisch!
I love the dragon videos you do
Thank you Killer Wolf! I'm glad you like them!
its been 8 years since i first saw this and to this day i still have plans to make one of these lol. love watching the process of it coming together and cant wait to finally try my hand at it soon
Too funny! I have a project that has been on hold at least that long! I get it.t I will use your comment to inspire me to start that project. Thank you! You should make yourself start as well. Once you get going it will take over and before you know it you will have pulled a dragon out of thin air. Very rewarding. Good luck nail guy!
@GourmetPaperMache glad to hear! Ill definitely be trying my hand at this soon. Im thinking ill start small though to save on space and resources while i get the style down :)
Sounds good! Trust me, the thing is to start. That's the hardest part. But once you get started it will take over and you will want to do nothing else until it's finished. Go for it! Dan
Incredible as always :)
Thank you as always!!
Dan
This is stunning, I would love to have this in my room. You are very skillful and creative
Josie Morris
Thank you Josie! Glad you like it!
Dan
I’m totally going to make this, this summer. I have your books on the monsters etc you make. I have made several of them and people love them. I love your work. It’s incredible:)
Thank you Kim! Glad you are having fun! Good luck on your projects this summer!
Dan
GourmetPaperMache ty, can’t wait to see more of your projects :) they are amazing:)
Increíble artista! Magnífico trabajo !
Eres muy amable. ¡Gracias por el cumplido tan agradable! Es muy apreciado.
Cuidarse
Dan
I absolutely Love your work! You construct with such ease! Thanks for sharing & showing the 'how to's', do you ever teach a class? If so, where? Do you attend shows or public events where one can go and see your work in person and/or watch you actually making one? I'm just venturing out into the paper mâché (haven't done it since elementary school) it's almost a lost art! But what I love is how you top it with cloth (more durable), and the appearance is remarkable, not to mention the entire final project is lightweight! Thank you again for sharing! I'm very excited about trying it!!
Hi Gloria. Every so often I give demonstrations. The last was at a conference in Texas where I was speaking. But those don't happen very often. That's why I do my videos and blog and books. Thank you for the nice remarks. Good luck on your project. Have fun!
Dan
Fabulous work!
Sorry, just now seeing your comment. Thank you very much Leigh! You are very kind. Happy New Year to you!
Great job!
and i like the music
Thank you for the nice comment Mayra! And I appreciate the compliment about the music. I work hard to find music that will work with the video. Take care
Dan
@@Gourmetpapermache It's incredible all thing that you can do with paper and glue. Your work is amazing! (Few days ago I replaced a barbie doll´s leg with paper, glue and another "ingredients").
Greetings from Argentina!
@@liquidz0ul It is a wonderful thing to do to alter a Barbie! Sounds like a great project! (I actually have a chapter in my book about doing such things to dolls) Good luck with your art!
@@Gourmetpapermache 😁
absolutely brilliant!
Thank you Hippy Chick!
Dan
This....is...AMAZING!!!
Perfect for any castle wall
That's true! Or above the baby's crib!
Dan
:O I need to get rich some how and secretly place it over my Goddaughter's crib
Sometimes I wonder if it was really a good decision my friend made to have me as the Godmother lol
BellaDonna BloodCrave
I agree! :-)
Wow mir fehlen die Worte😳unglaublich, Mega perfekt🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍👍👍Danke !
Vielen Dank Jeany! Ich schätze Ihre freundlichen Worte sehr!
Fantastic video. Live that you time lapsed it.
Couple of questions: what is the wow fabric you used for the skin? I could really use a material like that.
For your painting, what medium did you use? You've got fantastic gradients!
Thanks!
Hi Peyton. Thanks! I use old bed sheets. Nothing fancy. Same with the paint. I just brush on all-purpose paint, like you buy at Home Depot. The blackwashing is the key. Brings out the details.
Take care
Dan
Whoa... Bed sheets? What're you soaking them in order to manipulate them? this is now relevant to my cosplay interests!
Peyton Morris
Elmer's glue.
Fabulous work!!
Thank you Vicki! I really appreciate the comment.
