  • The RTRM was bad. It would cycle the indoor blower motor on/off while in cooling. This caused the unit to freeze up.

    On Trane units, a decade box on the test terminals really saves time.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Awesome stuff man. My name is Greg Gurule I just finished my first term of hvac school I start my second term in January for the residential part of it. This semester was by far the most mentally challenging for me but its all making sense now and clicking. I go to school in Albuquerque New Mexico @ Central New Mexico Community College. I just recently came across your Channel and you gained a new subscriber can't wait for more videos to learn from to go along with what Ive already learned in school thanks keep them educational videos coming out.

      Congratulations on getting through your first semester bro! This is really a great trade. I love it. Thank you for subscribing to my channel. I appreciate the support. As your reading a topic in your book maybe try doing a youtube search. possibly someone posted a video on it. Then you can watch the video and get a good understanding of what your reading. just an idea. I'm glad my videos can help. I will try to post some soon. shooting the video in the field is easy. The hard part is editing the video once i get home. lol

    There was a General contractor that recently redid the duct work. This unit has undersized duct work causing the low suction pressure and super heat. This is why i said there is not much i can do right now.

    Had to troubleshoot a board today, compressor fault. Didn’t take long, but was also getting com errors. Didn’t know which board it was. Sense those boards are so hard to troubleshoot luckily there was more than one unit and we swapped a board at the time and the LED7 cleared and it was all good from there.

    good job, and explanation to not break the new control board by "impact gunning it down" ..... no reason to fix bad airflow due to poor engineering up front!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes filters are guaranteed dirty long before service call and overlooked on purpose! why have filters? just spew the dirty air back and plug the evap. coils solid LOL!!

    That reminds of the Texas de Brazil rooftop down on Alton Rd in Miami Beach.

      Yep that’s where it is. But these were the ruts that cooled the private ball rooms about 10 -15 years ago. But about 8 years ago Texas de Brazil down sized. These rtu’s now cool private offices for Miami Beach marina. About 15. Years ago I serviced all of the Texas de brazils a/c & refrigeration equipment. I know those accounts pretty good. Do you still service Texas de Brazil?

      Hell yea dolphin mall was tough. Grettle was the manager there for a long time. You had to go through 3 different ladders. Lol
      Dude we used to put an extension ladder from the 2nd floor straight to the rooftop. Like a short cut.

    Was stat on "fan auto" when board wouldn't bring fan on?...I currently have pretty close to same unit where as soon as unit is powered,heat will come on but not fan......but in "fan on",the fans comes on......I was gonna replace stat b/c the space temp is 70 & it's set for 70.......also,there is a bunch of these same units w/ the same stat....its the only stat calling for heat....all other stats in warehouse are set & read the same (70/70)......

    • @20antman
      @20antman  Před 6 lety +2

      In my case the fan was set to " fan on". The control board ( rtrm board) was receiving a steady fan signal. But it kept cycling the fan. If your not sure i would swap the thermostat with another unit for a day or two. If the problem switches to the other unit then it must be the thermostat. If the problem still remains at the original unit. Then it could be the control board or something else with the unit. If you have several of the same thermostats just swap the face plate. leave the base and wiring attached to the wall.

    You should use the TEST terminals. To run the board thru it’s test mode next time. The RTRM will flash twice if there is a diagnostic .

      @20antman  Před 4 lety

      Yep I agree with you. I replaced so far 3 of those ftrm boards from chattering blower contactors. Of course not on the same units but in different trane packaged units.

    Nice repair. Them boards are a pretty penny. How you liking the Nissan nv van ?

    • @20antman
      @20antman  Před 6 lety

      Yea a little pricey. But its the customers problem. The NV is nice. The turning radius sucks though. Making U turns is a pain. Chevy is letting the 2500 v8 with back up camera, power windows out the door $21k . That is a steal compared to the Nv up around $28-30k. I would jump all over the chevy if i can go back. At the time chevy was asking for more than my nv2500. Just figured ill give you some input. Thanks for checking out my video.

      I love riding the nv 2500 but I enjoy paying for gas on the versa note😄
