  • Salkantay TREK to Machu picchu. We were prepared for everything except rain. Made the mistake of thinking our jackets would do the work (they didn't) suffered brutally the first day. It was all worth it with the gorgeous views we got going through Salkantay pass on the second day.

This was in July. We got a little rain the first day of the trek. But not an issue after that.

@@landflame Yes, I did Salkantay trek in March. It rained two days, but it wasn't big deal for me, because I enjoyed so much. I'm going to Peru again in March 2020.

@@sertaobuda Thanks for the reply! So you did a self-guided or with tour/guided hike? My original plan was to go for a solo hike of Saint Cruz trek, but many people suggested me not go as March may be the peak rainfall reason in which disastrous flooding and/or land- mud-slide may occur. Thus I decided to switch to Salkantray but the weather is still one of my top concerns.

@@ironsurge64 Hi Sergio. I couldn't make it this year due to an accident, so my trip have to push back to next May or June. One more question, when you book this tour, does it included the cost of the ride to the start of the Salkantay trail and the entrance fee to Machu Pichu ? Or you have to pay separately, from what've learned that they only allow limited amount of people into the Machu Pichu. Many thanks in advance for your help.
