      That is the premise behind the ACAB ideology. All cops have immunity, so any cop can choose to do whatever they want at any time. They act like humans most of the time to trick people into a false sense of security. Qualified immunity and general court refusal to prosecute any police crime is effectively terrorism for profit.

      If I had to guess it's probably so that they can use the bathroom. Also you have to be able to turn it off when it's not in use/ not on duty so the battery isn't just being used for no reason. But yes it should be against police policy to ever turn off their camera when on duty and not in the bathroom.

    People don't understand how much damage this does. If they don't actually make an example of the officers who were stealing, it erodes trust in the police more than you'd think.     As the one woman police officer is getting questioned, she has a Louis Vuitton Speedy bag sitting next to her on the table. It sells for about $1500-1600+. Now way she buys that bag on an officer's salary. Either that bag is stolen or it was funded with stolen items. They've been doing this a lot.

      The bathroom mostly. There are also issues in some sensitive areas, like the hospital.
      But really, unless the camera is surgically attached or something, they’ll just take the camera off. Way easier to notice the camera is not missing rather than just being on.
