Join a local documentary filmmaker as he dives into the world of "real" fighting gyms for a regional TV news story. Led by the larger-than-life Big Joe, the gym he covers is nothing short of extraordinary. However, the plot thickens when our filmmaker becomes captivated by a competing gym led by the self-proclaimed karate expert, Keith Kraft, who boasts a rather unconventional fighting style. 'ON THE ROPES' humorously draws parallels with 'Spinal Tap meets Rocky', inspired by the writer Mark Noyce's personal experiences within gym culture.
