Menstrual Cup Applicator | Review and Demo

- To the eleventy-million people who DMed me about trying a menstrual cup applicator - I have and here is my review! A few months ago I inquired on my Instagram asking for help sourcing a cup applicator from a brand in Brazil. I wasn't able to try it until my most recent period but around that time I was sent a viral video about this product so I guess it was a good thing I already had one!
When I try "weird" period products I'm usually rooting for them to work even if I assume they won't. This is a rare case where it worked better than I expected! Tools like this menstrual cup applicator do have limitations but this one has promise, especially when paired with the Flex Cup (because it breaks the seal for users.) My thinking is that if you have a disability or reach issue that makes inserting a cup impossible or challenging you will also likely have issues removing/breaking the seal of your cup. The Flex cup is a longer cup even when the stem is worn in its shortest position - if you know you have a low cervix a menstrual disc would be a better option.
Limitations include
- lack of touch (very important when placing a cup properly)
- needs two hands to insert
- inserts but doesn't help remove
- hard to find in many countries, US included
- only works with certain folds and/or cups
- larger size of cup when inserting
I did mention in this video that the Hello Disc and potentially other discs are an option to solve certain issues this applicator is addressing. Insertion requires only 1 hand to fold and insert and for the Hello Disc the looped tabs coupled with no suction will mean it's easier to remove for most. If you can reach to insert a disc it's an option. Lumma has 3 sizes and a removal string as another option.

I wish I could find something to work for me. I'm plus size and short arms... reaching inside can be difficult 😣 I one time spent over an hour trying to insert a cup. Then I cried lolol
Girl. Yes. My size really is what made me give up on discs or cups. No one talks about the problem with giant tatas and big bellies. Glad I’m not the only one in this club 🤣
Yep this is me too these days... have been using a Menstral cup for a few years now & also lost a heap of weight - it was all going good, periods finally like clock work, so happy with menstral cups AND then I got sick weight ballooned out, short arms huge belly, tilted uterus + added to the mix now is arthritic hands, pain in shoulders arms ☹️
Have sadly gone back to tampons (with applicator) this last period, not what I want hence a google search for cup applicators.
Same here I cried cuz I couldn’t get it out I have a small hands and couldn’t reach it it took me a hour and half to get it out
I'm 5'5" 290 with big boobs and belly. Oh and I also have long nails.... I tried the lemme disc and had no issues. That was also the first time I used something other than a pad or tampon. I will be using it again but I'd like to find one slightly more firm around the rim?🤷🏻♀️
I have the enna cup and applicator. I found that it worked better when I didn’t think of the application process the same as inserting a tampon. I would use a punch down fold and use the applicator more for just getting it up there “ I have a high cervix” . You must use both hands and it takes practice.
I love the shameless self plug! I have a tilted cervix and as much as I really want cups to work, discs have just been better for me. Can’t wait to buy the hello disc!
I'm from Brazil and I guarantee you Fleurity is very soft. I haven't heard of a softer cup, but maybe it's just because I know only 14 cups. It's very soft, doesn't want to open very much, so it's easy to mantain the fold. I have no idea how this applicator could be helpful (unless in some disabilities). Sadly, we Brazilians are very resistent to the menstrual cup idea, and very ashamed/grossed out by our periods. I'm not happy to say that, but it's probably to easy acceptance because you don't need to touch your body or blood.
Eu moro em UK. Fiquei pasma com seu comentário e triste ao mesmo tempo eu jurava que teríamos uma consciência mais ampla do contexto
Are you also Catholic? I grew up in US in 50’s and 60’s. My mom wouldn’t even tell me about my period. I bled for like three months and just let her finally see my underwear. She said, like nothing, oh, you’re a woman. I literally thought I was dying for three months and she would burst into tears and rush me to the hospital. PLEASE TELL YOUR DAUGHTERS WHAT TO EXPECT.
I used needle-nose pliers quite successfully. I use the stiff, pink rubber cup that you had so much difficulty with. I like a good seal because I have an EXTREMELY heavy flow for 8 days straight. I used to use tampons, but I LOVE using a cup. Anyway, I just do an inner fold down of the stiff pink rubber cup, line it up with my needle-nose pliers and insert it just fine. And I DO have strength and flexibility issues, so if it works for me, it'll work for you, too!
I don't think its safe to put pliers near your vagina.
What is the pink cup's name?
That was a very good informative video. Thanks.
Thank you for your service!
Thank you very much for the effort you put into this video :)
lol I'm Brazilian and I just saw the applicator in the drugstore, so I came here to your video and lol it's that exact product... what a surprise!
oh wow, interesting that it is on a shelf!
Wow I love this video!!!! Thank you so much.
I will be 42, tomorrow.. Your videos (and a couple others just being honest) have been my She-Tribe while being brave enough to try this road. We (in my family growing up) have been shamed out of talking about anything to do with feminine reproduction, and are shamed when we talk about most of it.. Even if it's cancer.
My family was even quite upset with me when they found out I was going to be breastfeeding. Pretty close minded.
Thank you so much for these videos as I navigate out of this old way of thinking.
I've also quit taking the pill but that was due to health reasons. In one month I have managed to time everything just right… I'm light right now which means I'll really start tomorrow, on my birthday and on a full moon.
I'm officially feeling confident with a few different cups as well as a disc, As I started practicing a little bit last month.
☘☘☘thanks!☘☘☘
I wonder if this can help the extremely soft Nixit "cup"
I can Not for the life of me keep it pinched enough to get it in. I've read advice that says to put your finger in the disc, grow another finger and fumble it in. But that applicator seems like it could work.
Lol! I used a plastic tampon applicator to try to insert my disk just the other day. It sort of worked.
how? Now im curious lol
@@niko9603 I used the applicator for an extra super tampon. Pushed the tampon out, cut off the little plastic tabs and then pushed the disk down into the applicator. The disk folds down to about the same size as a tampon. Not sure you could get a menstrual cup to fold down that small.
@@Ay-B I think some cups may be able to
I need to try because none of the disc are working for my high cervix
I was wondering if that would work. Hmm 🤔
"My vagina is booked out every period." 🤣🤣🤣
hi, can you make a review of the menstrual disc from this brand?
I do have disabilities and I have the flex cup but it is impossible to get it in. I really want to try that product. I live in the USA. How do I get it? I will want to try the Hello Disk too.
Did you find a different applicator since making this video?
I'd like to see guys guess what the applicator is.
Cant i use a plucker to pinch the base to release the seal and pull it out ?
I guess you could as long as it’s clean but it’s not usually necessary
When will hello disc be available for purchase, also how hard would I have to pull the tab to remove it, I have a disability
I think Jan 2022
This tool would help those of us with long nails. I want one.
Do you think this world work with a disc?
someone on reddit tried it. I also tried folding it to use the applicator, I don't think it's going to be that great for inserting a disc from how it is side open at the top. But if you search the menstrualcup subreddit you might find that person's post more helpful
Would you recommend the cup alpacacator
This one isn't amazing - you're better off inserting manually unless you have an issue with your hands that makes it harder to do
Where do I get an applicator from
Can you try the sunny cup and the sunny aplicator please?
It’s been delayed several times. I had it on preorder for a year?
I found one on Amazon
Is it plastic?
Yup
what about sunny applicator?
it's not out yet and won't be until 2023
This looks more painful than a cup itself 😅
Fake nails suck with stuff like that lol 🤣
so true lol
"... get familiar with their bodies."
Yeah, hard pass. The less contact I have with my body and whatever matter it's disposing of, the better. There are people who don't wish to have a more intimate relationship with their bodies and appreciate solutions to handle what needs to be taken care of
