This week at the chateau, we take a look back at when we bought the crumbling Chateau de Lalacelle. Abandoned for over 40 years, this beautiful monument was in a sad state of disrepair, with crumbling chimneys, broken widows and leaking roof, the chateau did not have must life left in her.
But 3 years on and now the chateau is back to life with a unbelievable makeover, and the reveal of the new 400 suite.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

so much LOVE was put into this renovation and decoration and you have such exquisite taste for beautiful things. I remember it also in the beginning. Like a jungle outside and rotten inside, but they saw potential, and made it work. You could see how the cottage came on that they were learning skills and had vision
The vision from the beginning of restoration to now is just breathtaking. The hard work, the attention to detail, the unexpected surprises like the rotten beams over the windows, apart from anywhere else, seriously you have achieved miracles. The whole team has put their heart and soul into transforming this chateau. Your progress in 3 years is astounding. “good bones”, your poor chateau had crumbling bones, but like a well weathered tough old lady she still stood tall and proud waiting for your family to come along and fall in love with her. And what a love story it’s being so far. Can’t wait to see the next just jobs and how you bring her back to life room by room. 💗💗💗
Putting this video together to show the progress from arriving in the jungle-infested grounds to the (almost finished) product is a bloody marvel. About half way through I just had a thought about all the taping and plastering that went into EVERY joint in all the plasterboard before any of it could be painted and have to acknowledge Ash's graft. But also respect to Demolition Mam who put so much into this magical transformation. Not to mention all the work on the gardens and grounds. Kudos guys - fantastic.
