About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

I think Paula has earned whatever she wants! I vote gite for Paula! LOL when you did a "where we are" panning shot and the hind half of Patrick was sticking out of another hole. You could collectively plant a thousand trees and you still wouldn't have dug as many holes as the industrious Patrick. He is definitely living the perfect life, as is fitting for a Lord.

Gites are a nice idea. Also have you considered creating a spa/gym retreat space? Could be nice to have for guests in the future and yourselves. Think about it. After all the long days of hard physical labor you all put in, wouldn’t it be nice to have a sauna to relax in at the end of the day or perhaps a hot tub? Just food for thought.

Oh, the stables!!! I've been dying to see inside. Stables and kitchens are my favorite areas in these old properties. The stables take you back into history and give you a glimpse of life back then.
It will make an awesome little cottage.

I love the progress, the updates, and future plans that you’ve shared. Thank you. Would it be delightful to restore the little stables to little stables once again. I can picture beautiful horses grazing in the large field/ pasture. The landscape work, the driveway, the fence work with hydrangeas… I don’t know, but three horses ( three stalls is what looks available) grazing in the pasture belong there. Am I being too romantic or impractical? A Paula’s cottage would be great too.😊
Yay 100 episodes!! I love the idea of making that into a lovely guest cottage - would be a perfect place for family and also paying guests as you choose. I can totally see a nice patio with maybe a solar powered fountain to help with the road noise, enjoying the sunsets and views. Can't wait to keep watching you all as you breathe new life into spaces like the stables! I love the horse tie-ups too - so many charming original features to enjoy. Congratulations!!

I’m confused, if it was made into a rental when Paula isn’t there? You wouldn’t want to share a bathroom with somebody who you didn’t know in the other bedroom but if it was just one big rental. With a small kitchen, sitting room, bathroom and bedroom …well one bathroom would be fine. Congratulations on 100 episodes 🎉

Before you mentioned your aunt Paula, I thought the stables would be a lovely spot for a picnic area, but if you are doing it up for her, it's imperative that the area around it becomes a family picnic area; for the days where it's just too beautiful out to stay inside. Having a nice little luncheon area, on the grass, with easy access to a small prep kitchen and a restroom, that is also off the main fountain area seems superb. You can absolutely throw a blanket down anywhere out there, but a furnished outdoor dining area would be quite quaint.

Congratulations on 100 episodes! It's amazing how far you've come. I'm confused though as to how many people live there and how the ones we don't see are related. I totally understand if you don't want to answer. How lucky anyone is that gets to help you bring this beautiful home back to life!

How about keeping the stables as stables. Get some draft horses, vintage implements to use to maintain the property and reduce the carbon footprint your tractor and other fuel burning vehicles create. Jonathon would probably like taking care of the horses. At least I did when growing up. My grandfather used mules to mow the pecan orchard using a side cutter.

It's wonderful to see you have reached the 100th episode milestone! We certainly love following you guys and everything entailed with restoring the chateau. The bonus is someday, hopefully in 5-7 years, you will enjoy just maintaining the place.
I believe your building would BEST be served if you set it up as one rental. Sharing a bathroom, for two rentals, is not desirable for most folks.
If I were to design the outdoor space, I'd love to have a larger half circle paver patio. Along the outside of the half circle, I'd make raised stone enclosed beds, but instead of for flowers, make it all for herbs. This assumes you'd be able to get enough sunlight (I can't tell from this video). We will enjoy watching whatever design you end up selecting.

I would put a large window facing west so you could see the sunset from inside. The same idea for the side facing east and the sunrise. Last thing, please two private bathrooms.

Can I just say that I have been with you since the bginning and have enjoyed the journey but I have noticed that you have become a lot more comfortable on camera than you were in the beginning.
