  • In this Psytrance Tutorial learn the Ultimate Bass Transient Hack with Serum!
    Here's a rather obscure technique I've been playing with lately. The technique itself is very open ended so go do whatever you can with it! Enjoy!

    proof that the best tutorials come from the most obscure places. i'm gonna use this to make darksynth

    Nice technique... Have been trying something similar but didn't think to use the noise osc, I always overlook it

      yeah until no that long ago i pretty much ignored it all together, pretty powerful though as a mod source!

    this guy is more scientist (psyientist? ok ill let myself out) than musician lol, but again really solid technique being shown, unique approach!
    only thing FWIW, the oscilloscope line is pretty hard to see, it's sorta distorted (highest res, highest backlight), maybe it's my screen but if you have an option making the line bigger/fatter i would recommend it for future videos!

      I do apologize, i had meant to set the scope to be filled in so you guys can see it easier but i forgot. I’ll try to remember next time! Hopefully the point is still clear though :)

    Lol. I spent time recently doing the opposite and adding sine the the first cycle

    In the end i've always ended up using "processed" basses.. I dunno why but they end up sounding more natural

    • @MuteProduction
      @MuteProduction  Před rokem

      I totally agree. however this trick is quite handy for processed basses too mostly because i find it’s cleaner/ more responsive than transient shapers tend to be.

      That said i do like these pre-baked patches for quickly sketching ideas rather than taking my time to get a nice bass rolling and forgetting the idea i had in the first place

    How do you make your bass sound so polished? Mine always sounds messy and muddy

    • @MuteProduction
      @MuteProduction  Před rokem +2

      i tend to create complex curves for the filter by going in the matrix creating multiple of the same modulation (env2 -> filter cutoff) then use different modulation depth and curves for each one. i find this gives the tightest patches, particularly for the more fullon style basses.

    @eliaszerano3510 Před rokem

    why don"t you use the lfo directly as modulation source ?

    • @MuteProduction
      @MuteProduction  Před rokem

      because this way only the first cycle will be effected no matter what pitch or bpm I play

      @@MuteProductionbut if you draw the shape in the 1/16th frame shorter, so that you only affect the first cycle it should work the same? Or am I thinking wrong?

    do you have a tutorial for this kick?

      no I don’t have any kick tutorials yet. One day I might do one

    How is it in vital?

    • @MuteProduction
      @MuteProduction  Před rokem +1

      it’s much easier in vital, draw the same shape in an Lfo then set it to Envelope mode and keytracking.

    Disagree. This is too much analyses. There is much easier way then this. You are overcomplicated a million times. This is the problem when you pick up all the info they tell you on youtube... all this little tipps amd tricks are mostly overcomplicating the this even more. There is much easier way then this

    • @MuteProduction
      @MuteProduction  Před rokem +4

      that’s fair enough if that’s how you feel but generally i find this far more effective and consistent than most transient enhancer plugins
