  • This week I build the ultimate bass patch in Serum.
    It includes automatic kick ducking and macros for the levels of the fundamental and first harmonic.

    Congratulations man, this was one of those benchmark videos in the eternal flow of Mother of all bass tutorials.

    Excellent variant technique on the Serum version of a Psy-bass. Using the macros to control the 3 aspects is a really nice touch.

      And just another thought ... is the phase of the sub oscillator the same as the fundamental sub when viewed in the wavetable editor?... if not, remember you can render a wavetable to the noise oscillator and use that for the sub.

      Yes the phase on Osc A and B needs to be changed (I show this in the video). Interestingly I did try the Sub -> Noise approach first and something goes wonky there which I need to investigate further. Essentially the sub was tuned down 4 octaves 🤷‍♂️

    hey, great tutorial. i am using bitwig and i don't get it when it comes to the audio fader.. is this important? i got the kick on -12db and bass on -10db. and somehow i think that the kicks from your 50 kicks for kick2 are too loud so i have to set the kick on -16db maybe? i'm confused ._.

      and this thing with the buss i don't understand too, is it possible to create a kick&bass buss in bitwig? or is this just a group within the kick&bass?

    • @adrenakrohm
      @adrenakrohm  Před 7 dny

      Ah, don't worry about the -10/-12/-whatever setting for the kick. This is just an arbitrary number. Instead, set the kick to a level that also provides sufficient headroom for all the additional instruments. It essentially becomes the benchmark for all the other levels given it's typically the loudest element in the mix, ie. once you've set this (-16 in your case it sounds like) then set all your other instruments relative to it.

      I don't know Bitwig at all, sorry. However if it's like Ableton, you create an audio channel and change the output of the individual channels to it.
