More US cities need laws to protect animals from thoughtless owners, and these laws need to give law enforcement and first responders the right to get animals out of hot vehicles even by damaging cars.
31 States currently have laws against leaving animals in hot cars. The rest have good Samaritan laws allowing for damaging a car to save an animal. Right now as we speak, you have the authority to smash a window in all 50 states if needed to save the animal.
I live in Miami it's against the law to leave a dog in a car unattended anywhere in Florida in just a matter of minutes your car can be over 130° every time I see it I immediately call the police and take a picture of the license plate just in case they come out and leave
I lived in FL most my life… the temps right now in May are in the high 80's to low 90's in north FL. It feels like you can't breath bc the heat with the humidity. Inside a hot car with only a tiny opening in the window feels like being suffocated. Whoever did this seriously should try it out before making an innocent dog suffer thru it. Doubt they'd make their dog sit in a hot car ever again after they themselves experienced what it's like.

There's been reports of parents saying they forgot their baby was in the back carseat and so they went to work and the baby would die back there from the heat. One lady did this while she went dumpster diving. Her baby died in the suffocating heat while she was busy in a dumpster. It's sometimes a wicked world. Whether it's a mistake or not, an innocent, helpless life was taken in an extremely painful, tortuous way. Idk. As a society we seem to have lost the plot.😓
Why have a dog then leave it in a hot car. I told a lady one time I about called the police because you left your dog in a very warm car it was in the middle eighties , but in a car it’s hotter like 90 so she said oh no I was coming out right away. I told her you can’t expect your dog to survive the heat like that. I usually don’t say anything but I did that time.

Glad to see some cops helping out this poor animal. I've called police countless times when I've seen an animal locked in a vehicle and they don't send anyone. I stand there waiting forever for them to show up and the owner gets back before anyone shows up and drives off 😡
I own a locksmith company, and we do lockouts for vehicles, homes, business etc... and we get calls all the time from either customers or the fire department with a dog or a child locked inside and the fire department is always sitting there waiting when we pull up because they can't do nothing other than break the window
I kills me how owners believe an inch of air is enough to keep their dog cooled down. They don’t have a way to express heat… except through their paws, which are standing on hot leather! Even when it’s in low to mid 60’s and overcast I leave my windows down nearly half way for my dogs. Dogs pant, it’s a natural… nervous reaction, which causes them to be hotter anyways. It makes the insides temp even hotter for them. Use whatever brain cells you have and think about it. Or better yet, sit inside your vehicle for the length of time you put your dogs in there for and see how hot it gets and then think about that heat while you’re panting!🙄 The police officers did so right by this dog. I’ve wanted to do this on many occasions but called animal control instead but I now live in a city that doesn’t even have one. I have no problems breaking a window for a dogs safety!🐾♥️🐾

Be careful with that! There was a woman who left her dogs in her car with ac on and the dogs accidentally turned off the AC with their paws and they died. True story.

Not 100% accurate. There's rules such as asking around and trying to locate the owner before you can just bust out a window. Probably to prevent thieves from robbing cars and making false claims, but you can't just bust a window without doing some investigative work. I've done research on it and you may want to as well to prevent getting sued.
Whats really happening in America? Every year at this time going into summer I see the most stories about rescued kids and animals from hot cars. The perpetrators getting off too light so they taking things like this forgranted.
I just hope the police waited for the owner...gave him/her a dressing down as well as a ticket and a summons to court. There is NO good reason for what the police found and thank God they found him/her in time. ❤❤😢

Yesterday it was 93 degrees here which is 100 miles north of Clearwater. Hotter in Clearwater plus that car is black making it worse.
