    I’ll have this video on repeat . Points you made… I’ve been missing. Need pain relief so much … hard not to be desperate which sounds like that perpetuates it.

    Thanks I like the way you explained it here. This is a good video for those friends and family who don’t understand or think the illness isn’t real, I’m always on the lookout for shorter videos that serve that purpose

    I appreciate your videos. About a minute into the video my tms/resistance/self contraction just released and then began slowly letting go. Like a flick of a switch.. Amazing.

    Very well put. Me exactly. My feet went numb day 3 of covid Jan 2022. Stayed numbish til july I worried and worried now it burns and crept up my legs. Im 70 but very fit. There s nothing wrong. Until my brain gets it???

      The brain is an organ that coordinates body systems and functions. The mind is different. That’s why we give our Brains messages of safety so they will stop creating the pain signals or whatever. The mind is where we believe stuff. If we believe we are safe, our brain respond accordingly. If we believe we are in danger the brain will alert the fight flight freeze response for survival. So, my understanding is that the brain needs to believe we are safe.

    Love your channel! what are your thoughts on shoulder bursitis associated with painful clicking and popping sounds? It has been going on for over 6 months now with no improvement - in fact new symptoms including pain radiating down shoulder with muscle twitching. Causing me much anxiety. Thank you.....

    Hi Jim. Thanks for the reassuring video. I have been using this approach for several months now to calm TMS pain. It’s helped a little but I think I’m having difficulty shifting my mindset from just tolerating the symptoms to really allowing & accepting them. I know the pain is harmless but it’s quite high and distracting. I think there’s still some resistance on a subconscious level. Any extra advice would be greatly appreciated?

    This all makes sense but understanding the “how” is leaving me feeling like I need more specific examples of what to try. Perhaps it’s time to schedule a one on one.

    Does this apply to chronic constipation ? I relate to a lot of what is said on your channel but digestive issues are rarely mentioned

    So my MRI reveals spondylolisthesis and stenosis. When I walk a certain distance my feet feel ok but leg aches When I stand for awhile my feet begin to feel numb sometimes. Is this a structural problem or TMS? The surgeon said when it gets painful all the time then comes back and see him. Very confused.

    Hi Jim - wondering about something. If a condition is "idiopathic" or you're diagnosed with "idiopathic X" does that indicate TMS because there isn't a clear structural cause?

    My upper left back pain has increased steadily over the past year. It's at the point now to where I can't sit in a chair for more than a few minutes before it starts flaring up and getting intensely painful. I've been waking up in pain lately as well. It's getting worse by the day it seems.
    Could this be TMS? Or is it more likely to be something structural considering certain postures, such as sitting in a chair, exacerbate the symptom? Why would my brain find threat or perceive danger from sitting in a chair? How would it perceive danger when I wake up in the morning and immediately feel my back hurting?
    I'm going to PT for this but it isn't helping. I struggle between thinking it may be something structural/musculoskeletal or TMS.

      Did you go to an orthopedic surgeon (specialized In back pain) to exclude any structural damage that causes the pain?If they can’t find any structural damage then it’s probably TMS. Just my opinion. I am a retired PT but I would never have worked on a patient that was not referred by an MD and a problem wasn’t disclosed in a report.

      @@annetricot2609 I haven’t been to an orthopedic doctor yet. That’s my next plan of action.
      If I’m not mistaken, Dr. Sarno says that even if there is a structural issue, often times it’s still TMS causing the symptoms. People find disc issues or pinched nerves and it reinforces their belief that they are broken and need to fix themselves. So even if something shows up for me, I’m a little concerned it’s going to reinforce that belief for me as well.
      Other than X-rays and a physical exam, what else would an orthopedic doctor do to determine structural damage? And what other course of action would they suggest besides PT, which I’m already doing, and surgery, which I wouldn’t go through with. The number of people who get back surgery and are still in pain is quite high.
      I’m not afraid of the pain. I don’t feel fearful about it. It’s just very uncomfortable and painful.
