    I'm shopping for a pure sine wave inverter, so thanks for pointing out how tricky the online vendors can be.

    Nice test!.. But I would like to see the waveform under resistive and inductive loads. That will give you a more realistic scenario. 👍

      The little doorbell transformers can be super handy for lots of different projects, but it works perfect for this.

    The transformer will smooth the curve, you can try to use 1K resistor and direct connect to the output.

    Dude great video. I also got a portable oscilloscope which has a voltage limit. I liked how you were able to hook it up to observe the inverters wave form. Good job! I'm hoping to get a larger bench scope when money becomes available. Also liked your shop main disconnect.

      The transformer isn't needed some claim it changes the wave. Just need the 10x probe available from multiple brands. I just made a vid showing an example search YT for "2uPgP3S5sug" and it will be the first vid, or go to my channel and click on videos. It's currently the latest vid.

      Sorry for the late reply, but thanks for watching!
      Others have mentioned that I could have bought some adapters for the oscilloscope, but I think my little setup worked pretty good.
      I also am hoping to buy a bigger bench scope when funds are available, but for now the little AliExpress one will have to do.
      The shop disconnect was an easy (and fairly cheap) addition and really helps me do some testing when I want. Definitely recommend if you have the capability!

      That sounds great. I'm also looking to buy fnirsi-1014d on ebay. It has a 7 inch lcd and two channel signal generator. But like you, waiting for funds. It's under 200. It's very space saving in that it's not deep and can rest easily on a shelf. It also I believe operates on 12v dc if I read that correctly. I use lots of cordless solar charged tool batteries in my shop.
      I ordered that 10x probe for my portable scope. Thanks again for the tip

    Nice to see it with the pure sign wave in testing but under load that might change. It looks really small for a 3000 watt pure sign inverter. Size looks more like a 1000 watt. Still could be useful if its safe.

    I want to know if this will work for me.
    I have a submersible pump. , single-phase
    ** **Pump Specifications:** **
    - Power: 500W 0.67HP
    - Current: 3.8A Steady running current
    - Voltage: 220V
    - Frequency: 50 Hz
    - Max Flow: 35 L/min
    - Speed: 2860 rpm/min
    - Peak running current - I don't know how much exactly I think it will be 11A
    The operating time of the pump is 15 minutes per day.

    Bro hello. I have no car no battery and 220v 500 watt Power supply 40A 12v Can I connect it instead of the battery? Connect to the car inverter generate 220 volts?

    • @crownlounger
      @crownlounger  Před 2 lety

      A few things.
      1. You need to purchase an inverter designed to produce 220v. Mine is designed to produce 120v.
      2. A 500w power supply will limit you to roughly 500w output. (Actually a bit less)
      3. If you already have 220vac power available, why do you want to put that through a power supply to convert it to dc only to put it through an inverter after?

      For sure, I definitely agree.
      There is no way that a transformer can change the sine wave. The sine wave in should look exactly like the sine wave out.
      As far as the different probe, I know I could get a different one, but I happened to have the doorbell transformer already, and I hate spending money on things if I can avoid it.
      I’ll check out your videos! Thanks for commenting!

    • @crownlounger
      @crownlounger  Před 2 lety +1

      I was testing to see that the inverter was producing a clean 60 Hertz sine wave. Many cheaper inverters like "modified sine wave" inverters will produce a "square wave" sine wave which is undesirable for some applications like refrigerators, power tools, furnaces, etc. (anything with an AC motor) An example of a square wave is shown as part of the oscilloscope test function at around the 3 minute mark.

  • @aday1637
    @aday1637 Před 2 lety

    I always laugh when I see the words, 'pure sine wave' on an inverter. It's an oxymoron. The 2 are incompatible. The fets open and close rapidly creating whatever wave form possible but certainly not "pure". Filters also help. But again not a pure sine wave. If you look at the little bumps in your wave form, you will see these irregularities are less than pure, which would be completely smooth. Knowing how the dc is converted to ac in an inverter tells you that these devices are incapable of a 'pure' sine wave. Not that they aren't acceptable either, mind you. But none the less, a bit disingenuous. It is possible to create so many pulses to get the waves into a more useable form but not pure. And again, that's by nature of the way an inverter works. If you want pure sine wave you get a generator and spin it around inside 2 fields to produce one. Many of these inverters do get you close enough for useful purposes, though.
