    hey mate, the trumpet sound in the upper rev range normally comes as a result of your Xpipe and headers as every runner is close to equal length. this makes it sound like an R35 gtr. 👍

    I find the best combo for the exhaust for sound AND power is running a twin 2.25" Xforce with a stock LS1 twin/HSV twin rear muffler, tried going full stock SS twin catback and running the Xforce with the rear LS1 definitely noticed a power increase over stock and sounds loud enough but not annoying and with the pacemakers should sound OK all up.

    The drivers side on my old VN was a nightmare. The passenger side took me half an hour, and the driver side took me the rest of the day. Couldn’t get the flange past the steering, on the new headers, so had to undo it, and from memory had to loosen the engine mount, and slightly jack up the engine. I’m looking to do the SS 6Litre, and I’m happy to pay the $120 per hour down at the local mechanic 👨‍🔧 I’m gunna stay at home, drink Beer and pick it up the next day.

    Want it to sound good and completely different to every other VY VZ. Get yourself a Single Cat Y Pipe from a VT VX, have the boys down at the exhaust shop cut and weld some flanges on to that to suit the pacemakers, then run a single system from cat back. 1 hotdog in the middle just after the cat and at the end have a redback/lukey muffler.
    Imo with the twin system there is just way to much exit flow.

    Centre mufflers straight rear? Really needs resonators. If doesn't have rear twin in/out resonator/muffler I'd be adding one. If already does add some 12" perforated between the cats and centres.

    • @joeycool5810
      @joeycool5810  Před 3 lety

      so its just cat deletes then the xforce mufflers and the are the straight through type, then at the rear there is two hotdogs right before the end

    • @hayden6056
      @hayden6056 Před 3 lety +1

      @@joeycool5810 ahh yep already got a couple resonators ( hotdogs) . Resonators do a lot more when there's pipe behind them compared to at the end.
      It's why most OEM companies run them in the centre. I'd either weld a dual in/out VF factory resonator before the centre mufflers.
      Or add some 12-15" resonators where the cats usually go.
      Stainless steel always has a lot more resonance then mild steel it's why I prefer mild steel.
      I added 2 9" hotdogs (only had 9's and 15's cbfed making pie cuts on my back to fit the 15's. ) On my Mrs alloytec. I used to refuse to take it over 3k after fitting headers and hi flow cats. (alloytec have factory post cat resonators that are removed in the aftermarket cat pipes.) It's a little cringey now but a bit better so you can definitely improve on it.
      Resonance and drone is best removed by adding more resonators. My exes l67 I built her had the centre mufflers and a chamber muffler. I welded it in on the rear pipes with stock cats and mild steel. Had a very unique sound , very deep and growly.
      I've not started building my exhaust yet for my vs ute. I'll be running nothing but resonators. 1x 20" stainless xforce dual in/out resonator , then 2x 15" louvred mild steel hotdogs.
      I hate stainless and I I've only run it on Jap cars as off the shelf systems of there's are all stainless. Will be interesting to see if I can make it sound decent.
      Single 3" systems are $750 for a catback so I ordered a heap of Chinese stainless bends at $8 EA vs $30-40 in Aus. So figure I'll give it a crack and see what it's like.
