- Come along with us as we do evening checks on the adult herd and the yearling herd. We see quite a few kids along the way and some very happy guard dogs.

Ours start next week. The guard dog figures it’s the best time of year here too.
What do you feel is an “normal” orphan rate? Would that be the same rate you’d use on a business plan?
I wish I had a better answer, but I truly don’t know what normal would be.

Yearlings seem the worst for mothering. Always seemed to leave them in the mothering pens longer.
What we’re your signs of abortion this year?
Dead kid goats before kidding start date and Nannie’s that had lots of dry blood and other remains on their back end and tails.
