Looking Back 2023
Take a look back at the past year we've had at Habig Livestock. The end of 2023 marks the first full year we've lived in Montana! Even though it looks like all we do is vacation and spend time with guard dogs, we spent a lot of time with sheep. We are still learning so much about our new home, as well as meeting new people in the ag world. Happy New Year from us!

Looking Back at 2022

Take a look back at the past year we've had at Habig Livestock. There were a few BIG changes this year! The first half of the year was very similar to years past, we enjoyed kidding our nanny herd and had a great litter of guard dog puppies born. The second half of the year brought significant changes. We sold our whole herd to Noble Research in order to take an opportunity in Montana. We hope ...
Selling The Herd

Kidding Has Started

Kidding has started here at Habig Livestock. We are doing things a little differently this year because of drought and getting a more accurate weaning rate. We explain how things are going and show you around the pasture. www.habiglivestock.com
Preparing For Kidding
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed 2 lety
www.habiglivestock.com To prepare for kidding this year we decided to split our yearling nannies from our older nannies to kid out. We talk through our thought process on why we did this instead of leaving everything in one herd. We also show you the sorting process with our sort gate.
Supplementing the Herd - Preparing for Kidding

I’m currently using a Jobe Rojo float valve with good success for a low psi system like this. It feeds to the bottom of the tank as opposed to the top like yours so you get about an extra foot of head pressure.

Loved that tribute you added to your dog. Glad he got to live a good life. Any huge differences you’ve noticed going from goats to sheep? My sheep, woolies, will eat just about the same things my boer crosses did. Maybe just a bit less aggressive about it.

I have been trying this for weeks. I have adjusted the height for my nigerian dwarf goats. They still either jump over or squeeze through. Maybe full size goats are dumber than dwarfs?

Thanks for the video. I like the design. I wanted to let you know that your flag is hung incorrectly. When hanging vertically you should be able to rotate it horizontally and it display correctly. You have it in a sign of distress, as when you rotate it, it would display upside down, or in a sign of distress.

Sadly my goats have become very accomplished jumpers & that's what they do when they aren't darting between strands of fencing. As a last resort before simply taking them to a sale I've put shock collars on the ringleaders in an attempt to convince them that the fence can reach out & bite them from a couple of feet away. We'll see how this works but a couple of days in it's looking promising.

Seems like the grass touches your polywire. That reduces the voltage right? Is that ok that it touches the grass? I think its grounded and probably will drain the battery fast.
