- We're at the tail end of my G-Shock series and this one's a keeper!
This GAW-100B-1A2 version of G-Shock is sooo comfortable I had to share it with you today. Note that I'm not sponsored by G-Shock in any way, these are my own watches and I simply wanted to "share the love'.
Hope you enjoy!

Just bought one today, and I really like it.
Just gifted one for Fathers Day 2024.
The blue contrasts great with the black case.
My version solar only.
Very legible, great light and fits my 7.25 inch wrist really nicely and comfortable.
Thanks for sharing your story. I still find it very comfortable, even after all these years.
A great Father’s Day gift 😄👍🏼
Glad to see it on a 7" wrist - that's what I have, and was worried it would be way too big -- looks right for a big watch. Ordered a paisley blue for my first one the other day and think I like this one with backlight and LED/light colored screen - perhaps with silver bezel. Thanks good review
very helpful was looking into buying one and this absolutely helped in the decision. Thank you
@@mcraem77 , my pleasure! Happy to see that it was helpful.
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
I love the black/brushed chrome one I own. To be nit picky, I wish the face was a little larger and I really wish it had a second hand rather than a digital counter. But I like it just the same. Nice rugged look.
Use to have Tough Solar Casio watch since 2006, only expenses I had was changing the straps. Was looking for a new Solar watch from Casio, so i figured out why not go G-shock.
Looked at a few different models and few reviews because I was looking for a watch that lights up the whole dial, and finally found the watch to my likings thanks to this review.
Found the displaying of the illumination in the dark key to make my choice.
Thank you very much: Very good review. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’m happy this helped your choice. You won’t regret it. I absolutely love it 😊👍🏼
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching! 😃
well done! great review
Thanks! 😃👍🏼
Great job at description
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words.
Also, thanks for watching 🙂👍🏼
Great Video! 🙂
@BRICKTOP - Thanks! 😃👍🏼
Very nice video! You've earned yourself a new subscriber!!! 👍
I must disagree with the guys, who comment, that this watch looks ugly and cheap... It looks like a g-shock and it has therefore a style for itself! You can't compare the rugged masterpieces of g-shock with a regular watch - it is like apples and oranges!! For the GAW100 - I wouldn't buy THIS exactlx one with blue accents, but you video made me buy it in completely black!
I own various other watches from companies like Breitling, Omega, Seiko and many more, but lately I tend to prefer ProTrek- and G-Shock-watches, BECAUSE of their own style, ruggedness and functionality - it is a fun to wear something, that cannot be broken as easily as (lets say a Superocean for example) very expensive divers watch... I loved g-shocks as a kid and now in my mid-thirties I can see why! For sure there is a place for mechanical timepieces and they are beautiful... No doubt about that!! But for a daily beater watch, that can survive almost anything: You can't beat a g-shock!!!
Beside my point of view, I really like your style of video! Very informational - I hope you continue with your "work" and show me/us many more interesting vids like that!!!
Greetings from Hamburg, Germany
Philip :-)
@TheMegaPhilko - Danke! Du bist nett! I truly appreciate your kind words. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching! 😄👍🏼

Good job
Accurate, professional

Thanks for your kind words and thanks for watching.
I'm more of a fan of the Ignite Red Series colour for this watch, but thank you for the review as it was really insightful.
I agree; the Ignite Red series looks great but I feel it lacks legibility in many cases.
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
Great watch. 😊😊
Yes, indeed a great watch.
In the next few weeks, I plan on doing a deep dive in the features and functions of this one.
Keep an eye out for it.
Thanks for watching 🙂👍🏼
I had an all black one a couple of years ago which I sold on but have another arriving tomorrow. I recall this model had a real quality feel to it. I also read that the British ministry of Defence has been issuing these to Royal Navy divers.
@S-Ltd1000 - You thought you were done with it but it just called you back, right! For me, this is my "go-to" watch and also my reference watch to which I set all my other watches b/c the Multiband 6 catches the time signal every single day.
And, thanks for sharing that bit of information about the British Ministry of Defence ... I was not aware of that! 😄👍🏼
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!
Nice review. I have now since many years a simple GA-150. Rugged, but now strap and casing is quite bumped up and I'm searching for a new Casio. Thanks to Your review I think, I found the perfect new one for me!
Appreciate your comment! 😃👍🏼
And I know you’ll love it even more “live” on your wrist.
Thanks for watching.
@@timetowatch_francois Just received that watch. Love it!
@@NinjutsuAkademieHeilbronn - That’s fantastic! Thanks for sharing the news 😄👍🏼
I knew you would love it even more when you see it “live”.
I wore mine all last week … couldn’t take it off! 😆
Ordered one today in gold finish but only found it overseas in London. Can't wait
You can't go wrong with the gold finish! It will be a great conversation starter for sure.
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
Thanks for watching and thanks for sharing your story.
I love these watches. I own this one without MB6. The MB6 version is hard to come by these days, but it was not a deal breaker since I like to adjust the time manually on my watches.
As I writing these lines, if I could show you a pic of my current watch, I actually have it on now! It's all what it's cut out to be i.e. fantastic.
I must say that I love the MB6 and set all my other watches with this one.
Thanks for sharing!
Solar is way more important....MB6 nice but not a deal breaker..these watches are pretty precise without it
This was a helpful review, thank you. I have often found many g-shock watches uncomfortable, minus the dw5600. I've bought one of these in the solar-only and white/black colorway. Hopefully, it will be comfortable on my 7.25-inch wrist.
@kine290 - I'm sure it will. Thanks for sharing b/c I have G-Shock watches that are much less comfortable but love their look so much that I had to keep them.
This one's a "no brainer" for me. I want to wear other G-Shock watches but find myself turning to this one very often.
Thanks for watching and for your comment.
@@timetowatch_francois :)
@@timetowatch_francois I just got it and it is probably the most comfortable G-shock I have ever purchased. I think it's going to be my daily driver. Thanks again for this review!
That’s fantastic! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy it thoroughly 🙂👍🏻
I echo your comment... gorgeous to wear though I wear mine on a NATO strap...@@kine2903
Well done. I have the GAS 100. I really like it. I hope mine has the toughness as this watch does. I don't see "Tough movement" on it anywhere.
Thanks for your kind words.
That GAS-100 looks very sleek! 😃👍🏼
I may have to look deeper but, if it’s a G-Shock with analog and digital display, I think the “Tough Mouvement” comes with it by default.
It may be another story if it’s “only” a Casio.
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!
@@timetowatch_francois My watch is G-shock Tough solar Model GAS 100. Module 5445
@@mlaugh3 - Yup, saw that. Went on the web. I must say that I’m sure it’s even better looking “live”. Great acquisition 🙂👍🏼
Is this the -1a2er version for europe, the -1a2 version for north america, or the -1a2jf for japan? I saw a different video where both the face markers AND the hands were luminescent, and I'm trying to figure out which variant is which.
Hi Corey, it’s indeed the « 1A2ER » for Europe.
I was able to find this one on Amazon.
Thanks for your interest and thanks for watching.
@@timetowatch_francois as it turns out, i misunderstood the video I saw. The poster was comparing the AWG-m100 positive display watch (all the markers were luminescent) with the GAW-100 (just the hands were luminescent).
@@coreyu6464 - Saul Good 😉
I have the earlier AWG G shock. The GAW has much nicer solid hands with very good lume. The AWG has skeleton hands and the hour hand is red and minute hand is white. They are not always easy to read.
The GAW is larger so the dials are clearer. The lighting is also far better. You are right to switch off the facility for the light to come on as your arm moves. That just runs down the battery too quickly.
I am not sure about the alarm volume on the GAW. On the AGW it is virtually useless, hardly audible. There is a great alarm on the Casio W-218H. That is not a G Shock but it is a great inexpensive Casio with a very readable digital display. None of the face has to be allocated to a solar panel.
@Peter Campbell - Great insight. Thanks for sharing and for your comment.
And I agree; the Casio W-218H is a great watch, in line with the G-Shock DW-5600 series.
Every time my watch receives the rcvd message never goes away is there a way to fix this?
Thanks for reaching out. the RCVD message stays there by design i.e. the RCVD stays there so that when you see the watch for the first time at any point in the day, you'll immediately know that it received the time signal. If it was to disappear at some point, you may not have seen that it was there in the first place and wonder why your watch has not captured the time signal.
The only time it goes away is either 1 - At midnight when the date changes to the following day and the watch is "waiting" on the next time signal or 2 - If it doesn't receive the time signal at all and only tries to capture it the following day.
I know mine captures the time signal every single day and only rarely the message is not there telling me that it didn't capture it.
I hope this makes sense. In other words, you should be glad you always see the RCVD message 😉👍🏼
Thanks for the quick and easy response, you have such a underated channel. Have a good one Best Regards 👍
Glad I came across this. It made me wear this watch again. Thanks.
I have the Neo Tokyo version. On my 8 inch wrists I find it barely wearable, and far from comfortable. The upper part of the strap is hard and extend the watch length. Between the wide and hard strap and the dimensions, I rarely wear it even though I think it’s one of the best looking G-Shocks. Maybe what I discovered only applies to my Neo Tokyo version, I did not handled the other colors
Hmmm, now I noticed that yours have a single pin buckle, mine has a double pin / double hole buckle and strap. So they are different. Why would they put in the more expensive limited edition the worse strap ? I have to check out the normal versiona.
Here’s the exact model I have, observe the strap: czcams.com/video/VwhX27s2Cks/video.html
@@d3xmeister - Good point. Thanks for sharing your insight. Keep me posted on your findings 🙂👍🏼
How much?
I bought it $252 CAD two years ago. After looking in the Canadian Amazon Site, it now goes for $285 CAD.
I still have it and still love it. It's even better "live" on your wrist.
Thanks for reaching out.
HI, i wanna sell my 5610 and buy this one! Because of the small digits!
I completely understand but, if I were you, I would keep the 5610 as a beater watch and try to find a deal for the GAW-100B.
Here is a link I found on my initial search: a.co/d/eu6ETCS
Good luck and thanks for watching!
GAW - G-SHOCK Analog Watch
That's right!
Thanks for watching.
So a GA-2100 is not a watch? 🙄
@@e28forever30 - Yup, GA-2100 is indeed a watch (gshock.ca/pages/search-results?q=ga-2100)
Not sure why you're saying that. I even have the metal version of it (See my review here of the GM-2100: czcams.com/video/6FC_7dZ4z3w/video.html)
I must admit I'm not sure why Mr. J V 13 added this comment other than to agree with my review (I'm always taking for granted that it's a positive outlook on life 😉)

He was explaining what the meaning was of GAW.
His explanation is wrong, simply put: if the “W” stands for “watch”, then a “GA” series is not a watch…
@@e28forever30 - Oh ... My ... God ... 😄
That went 1000 feet over my head! 😆
You just made my weekend my friend! 😎👍🏼
I think I like these better than the AWG. The AWG looks cool but I find it too small.. it's also hard to read and a horrible backlight
@Guinea54 - Funny you say that; I had an AWG that I gave my son b/c of the same reason and that's why I bought this one.
Mon son has it on his wrist all the time an it's built tough so I'm happy it has a "second life" 🙂
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching! 😁👍🏼
@@timetowatch_francois Thanks for the response. Yeah I went back the AWG, and ended up getting a solar "CasiOak".. but I was also considering this one. The CasioOak wears larger than the AWG for some reason
@@Guinea54 - Ah! Solar Casioak! Great choice!

@@timetowatch_francois im still a little up in the air with it, even tho i really like it. Just not used to such a thin G shock lol. cheers
@@Guinea54 like *this
WHY has nobody at G Shock/Casio… realised that there is absolutely no reason to paint the base of hour/ minute hands a different colour…Hands look so ugly when they cross. Nice watches have been ruined by this…😳 Just stick to one colour..it’s that simple!…
I see what you’re saying. Good point.
From your mouth to their ears 😎👍🏼
Thanks for sharing.
@@timetowatch_francoisMy model has a red hour hand and a white minute hand (both skeleton) with loom. Nice contrast.
Unfortunately, this wristwatch looks so cheap. It looks like a child's toy.
😅 Well, I guess we could say that about most of the G-Shocks out there.
It's still my "go to" watch. The nice thing is that there are soooo many other watches to choose from, you'll be well served I'm sure.
Good luck in your search!
@@timetowatch_francois By the way, I own it and am wearing it right now. It's a good watch for every day. It wears very comfortably. But it looks like it came out of a gumball machine. 😵💫

Waffle waffle. Two and a half minutes before yo start to review the watch. Get on with it
That’s what the “chapters” are there for; skipping to the section you really want to hear.
Not everyone is a G-Shock expert like you and some like to have a little more details about the history of the watch.
Thanks for your comment and thanks for your understanding.
