- Hudba
These guys resurrected something most of us old Chicago fans from the 70's really believed died many years ago. Its an emotional experience to hear this, really is....
Absolutely I agree Chris. And my grandson loves Chicago and anyone who plays it.
I hear 'ya Chris. I'm on an island without my family when I turn this on. I had the luck to see them last year before all this Covid stuff took hold. It was a very emotional experience to meet them too!
You nailed that comment and feeling!!
CTA will always live on as long as there are people to listen to it. the players may change but great songwriting always stands the test of time.
Totally agree with you on that one! These guys are awesome!! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow that trumpet, that trombone, the whole damned horn section. Superb.
And both of these guys hit it dead on!
I agree about the trumpet and trombone players. I'm not sure but I think this is the only song that the trombone player has been been used on for Leonid & Friends. I don't know why because he is great. The lead singer is superb as well.
The dueling horns blows my mind!
without a doubt, really incredible!
@LogKnow Thanks for the info. This song is the one that really blew my mind. Everybodys' great but my favorite is the tall trumpet player. I should know all their names but it's hard to remember them.
I'am 69 years old and I have never heard a cover band like this one. These guys are GREAT
Their execution is the equal of the original. That is a very very tall order!
Every single note and vocal chord is magical.
@@silasmarner7586 Maybe it is the original. Even the original artist NEVER recreates their own music note for note that is identical to the original recording. But a Russian cover band does it time and again? Sure.
Me too
am 65 years old .. agree with you Charles ..
Anyone who has ever played the trombone knows how hard Alex’s rendition of James Pankow’s mythic solo actually is!!!!!!! Absolute perfection !!!!!!
I agree. He's killing it here. Kinda giving me some Trombone Shorty vibes. Oh, had I stayed with the Trombone, who's to say what would have happened in my life today!
yes!!!!
Totally! My thoughts exactly! (Having been a trombone player back in the day, I am in awe of his skills!)
'Just you and me' is another along w that flute soloing.. totally mythical sounds.
@@michaelconner1771 He's as good or better than the original Chicago trombonist, who was awesome.
HOLY SHIT!!! Where the heck has Leonid and Friends been at all my life? I'm 62 and have been on youtube for two decades now and have just now come across them. They are all super talented and just plain incredible!! I thought that Chicago was great, but these guys do Chicago music better than Chicago does!!!!! Just WOW.
I'm 62 also and a former radio DJ. Everytime i watch one of their videos, a smile comes across my face, and tears of joy roll down my cheeks.
Exactly!!
Yep - I'm 60 - what super music!!!
HOw god damn amazing are they ????? the vocals are spot on,,,,, THAT is a TAKE
MY GOD NOTone note out . I ama drummer and this is a TOUGH number and the drummer is flattening the amazing peaks..
Here's the original remastered version: czcams.com/video/lI-BMDnti4c/video.html The only difference is that the Bass is more prominent in Leonid & Friends version.
Anyone else listening to this band in quarantine?❤️❤️🎶🎶👌🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Every fin day!!!!
Every fin day!!!!
Unbelievably fantastic. Yes, living in this kind of unbelievable time in our country. But how this band takes it all away.
Bess Mahaney Pilates
...and for the 'umpteenth' time on every song I can find that they cover...
...YES! I'd really like to see and hear them cover the song "Tempus Fugit" from the Drama album by YES - 1980 with Trevor Horn.
Free people do not submit to tyrannies for any reason. God is my Boss not some stuffed suit politicians. Live your passion or die on command.
I love you no matter who you are.
I'm 68 and grew up on Chicago music. To simulate headphones (because I didn't own any), I would lay on my back on the floor of my bedroom with a full size speaker on each side of my head. This may explain the hearing aids I wear now.
You guys are as good as Chicago at playing Chicago music...thank you. All the best in this crazy world the politicians are trying to destroy. Be safe and God bless you.

Totally agree🎸🎹🎺🎻🥁
lol I did the same thing!! I definitely can't hear like I used to but it was worth it LOL
With you brother I use to do the same to this and others and at 66 I have lost a lot but still wouldn’t have changed a thing
Michigan here too Mike…been a fan since I was a teen back in the 70’s..best music period ever imho! They are my top favorite 70s band ..go to every concert I can of theirs when they come to Pine Knob..will be there July 17 2024 when they come back!!!❤
LOL! 67 y.o. with the same story! I loved early Chicago and I can still di-du-du with all the horn parts. One of the first things I bought with my first real paycheck was a pair of Sennheisers. Still need hearing aids now tho.
I've played drums for over 50 years and have to say that Igor is a superb drummer...he has every beat and roll down to as close to perfection as possible...the whole group is amazing in all aspects but to me, as a drummer, Igor keeps the music solid and is the glue of an unbelievable cover group.
Well, not just Igor. He AND Leonid are the glue. A perfect rhythm section.
Very true....in our band, back in the 60's, my brother played bass guitar and he and I were definitely what kept our group solid and on track.
@@rickthomas5782 In general, the rhythm section of any rock band is the drums and the bass!
I’m with you Rick. IGOR has the knack for all of this amazing music. I’m 72 and still gigging, since 1964. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.
I first saw Chicago about the same as seeing TOP in the SF BAY Area in 1968!
These guys “channel” our favorite bands in phenomenal fashion!!

I’m 71, got my first drum set in 1965 (7th grade).
I am a disabled U.S. Army war vet. Enjoy our Veterans Day today, Dan. And keep on rockin!!
The drummer just kills it!! Wow!
I had to watch I'm A Man 3 times just for that percussion in the bridge.
did you see the original band with Danny Seraphine? ok... probably not.
@@bluarcher5941 Danny is my favorite rock drummer; L&F aren't trying to replace Chicago.
But they sure do make a scene!!
The saying goes: L&F plays Chicago better than Chicago plays Chicago. Tis true!!
No one is trying to hurt your feelings 😉
Dude is badass 💪
@@bluarcher5941 Yea- I did. This drummer murders him.
The only thing missing is a live audience to give a standing ovation at the end of the song. This group deserves a huge round of a applause for that performance. What a joy to listen and watch these talented musicians.
Exactly. This band deserves a Woodstock scale crowd roaring its approval at the end of every song. The absence of such a roar feels totally incongruous. Seriously.
Bravo!!!!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😍
Fabulous, outstanding, remarkable superb. Enough talent to fill a stadium. Where do I have to be to see it. I'll be there. Check's in the mail. Terry is smilin' someqhere.
@@psgrenier They're on tour now - go see them! I just saw them in Hopewell VA last week - great show!
The only thing missing is a crowded dance floor.
Sergey Kashirin is such a super talent. He just nails the timing and lyrical rhythms of the Chicago sound.
His huge baritone voice is amazing. And he's a phenomenal guitarist!
I have been addicted to Leonid & Friends for about 6 months now. Grew up in the Twin Cities back in the 70’s - 80’s and Chicago was always on the radio. This band is outstanding! Hope to see them live soon….
This is the best cover band ever. No question.
Theyl are very great, educated musicians.
Cannot agree more. We are redefining what 'cover' means here, more in analogy to a philarmonic playing a classic.
The drummer is a monster . We're not worthy
Try Rumours of Fleetwood Mack from UK
They also do Earth, Wind & Fire superbly.
L&F not a “cover” band, but rather a “performance” band. Much like the London Philharmonic Orchestra “ performs” Mozart. Brilliant musicians all...!!!
Discovering this band during quarantine has been a true blessing!
Exactly right mate.
you said that so well, you are right, they are performers of the best quality to do the chicago band songs....the cover BRAVO.
I saw Chicago several times live. I was in another room when this first came on, I ran to see what was going on, and I haven't stop listening to Leonid & Friends since. Damn theses guys are "FANTASTIC". Note 4 Note, Pitch 4 Pitch, Excellent
I absolutely agree with you, as some people write that L&F is nothing special since they are not the authors of these songs.
You said it brother. If it weren't for the quarantine, alot of us probably wouldn't have heard of this group. I love listening to them.
To have such great diction and pronunciation when it is not your mother tongue is amazing. And that is on top of crushing the music itself. Hard to imagine an American band covering a Russian group this well. A testament to their musicianship and their excellence. Imagine the hours they put in to get it to perfection
Serge, Sergey PLEASE come back if you can... so good and so missed!
Very skilled musicians all of them, but the drummer just kicks ass
You Damn Straight !!!!
Punctuation issues can lead to ambiguity! I am sure you meant: Very skilled musicians -- all of them -- but the drummer just kicks ass; but it could also be interpreted to mean: Very skilled musicians; all of them but the drummer just kick ass, which would suggest that the drummer is not a skilled musician. But no one could possibly think that. So I guess sometimes grammar doesn't matter, when you come right down to it. Still, your post reminds me of the book about punctuation, Eats Leaves and Shoots.
@@psgrenier fuck! you're right.
Fuck you, right?
I was thinking the same thing. Dude is deep in the pocket
@@psgrenier youre absolutely right. No or bad Punctuation can change the meaning .
LOVE IT, LOVE IT. LOVE IT !!! HORNS ARE HITTING. DRUMMER IS GREAT. VOICES ARE GREAT, ENTIRE GROUP IS ....A W E S O M E !!!🎶🎶🎶👍
I saw the band in Providence Rhode Island this summer and everybody did a fabulous job my only hope is that the original members back in Ukraine can one day rejoin the band again along with all of the new Talent that exist in today's rendition of the band. The only thing missing from Providence was the orchestra in the background of the music but my wife and I and daughter had a fabulous night. Great job everyone.
I keep coming back to this song by L & F. It is absolute perfection . The horns, the drums, the vocals. Everything is spot on. Possibly better than the original. And, Serge and Sergey...we miss you!!!
I think it's definitely *better* than the original.
The pocket created by the drummer and Leonid is amazing and deep! So solid....it sounds like a heartbeat. It's like a forcefield that if other musicians wander, they get sucked back into time. You could set the atomic clock by it!
Don't forget the apple.
Have been a Chicago fan for 50 years. Your band is outstanding. The first time I heard you in You Tube I didn’t realize you were a cover band. Thank you for sharing your talent with us and for keeping Chicago’s music alive for a new generation.
Same here. I thought it was Chicago until I heard a little East European twang🙂. Not much though.
James Pankow's trombone solo is perhaps the most iconic in all of rock music. This young man nails it. Ask anyone who has picked up a trombone how difficult this is.
Yas!
say it again!
YES I agree to the fullest! That brassy sound he's got is incredible! He's definitely pushing a lot of air threw that horn
I concur!
Yes, he did nail it!!
Leonid is a genius. He pick the perfect storm in talent.
Right on Patricia
I've been playing bass and keys for over a half century, yes Leonid put together prue joy a magic ! Terry is smiling down at them!
really reminds me of Toto when it comes to bringing in talent to form a band.
Lightning in a bottle. That includes the engineers behind the scenes who make the magic happen.
Hey dm me, I have a business proposition for you! Thanks.
Unbelievable. Pure talent and a huge compliment to Chicago that they have studied their music to such a fine point that they truly are Chicago reincarnate!
You got that right✌🎸🎺🎻🎹🥁
Usually there's just one signature song that marks an era.
The 60's-70's was so different, it had many, literally tons of signatures...this is one of them. Listening to this then, you knew where you were and what you were. Jesus, I miss those days.
BINGO!
I’m going to venture to say this group has more fans in the USA than anywhere else ... this is the kind of thing that DOES bring people together ... not quite sure how to correctly convey that ... it makes me feel good.
Freedom for Ukraine! Freedom for USA! Brothers.
A Shared experience, like a sports team winning, everyone feels they have a stake
And now from Canada
Right you are Greg ! Thats why Leo started this Band on his 60th Birthday
That’s a big YES!!!! It’s only the beginning.
Every one of these musicians is to be commended for their obvious dedication to practice and rehearsal. It is quite obvious they have spent a lot of time preparing. BRAVO!
"spent a lot of time preparing" Yeah. ALL OF THEIR LIVES lol
You or me could practice 8736 hours a year...but these people are all clearly blessed by God.
This band is nothing short of brilliant. Godspeed to them and their people. On a lighter note, it’s all about the sax player’s dance for me ❤️
He's a riot live as well. If that sounds like I'm bragging because I've seen them in concert--I am.
At the end, Leonid yells out a triumphant "Yes!". And yes, yes indeed. Wow! The craftsmanship, the sincere joy of playing, just tremendous.
Now that's nailing the trombone solo! Way to go!!!!
yeah Their all Pros read music and all Max is a Hard Player
This reminds me of when musicians had to be tight. That was the ultimate accolade. These guys are really tight. Bravo!
they could be the next "Wrecking Crew"...the musicians who did a lot of the background for many songs of the 60s, including the Wall of Sound works.
K
Tight is right!
Thanks im mexican 57 years old. And i realized that those songs..will never die...thanks..again
It's who many of us are!
The sheer excellence of this performance and Sergei’s vocals still blow me away 😮 hope he’s doing great👍👍👍
I'm American, and I feel honored and grateful that people from so far away have done so much to revive a fading giant of American music and culture. I see stars and stripes too in a lot of L&F videos, and... I just appreciate the friendship. I feel good that some part of our culture has translated so well. In some places around the world, we're not very popular, but when I watch you guys and hear what you're doing, none of that matters. Спасибо вам, мои друзья!
good music is boundless, it belongs to everyone!!!
🙂
The trombone player of Chicago arranged all the horns
The deciding component is God. Truth is paramount with Him, and some truths about humanity and eternity simply ring through. Chicago was not an unimportant entity when it began. It was always more than about romantic love. God is everywhere. He shines through. Bless you all.
I agree, and well said, restores my faith in humanity❤️
When I close my eyes here, I feel as though I'm listening to Chicago in the early 70's w. Terry Kath!
Goosebumps!
Just Beautiful!
Chicago wasn't the same after Terry Kath died.
Steve Kramer True that!
Terry Kath was a monster on lead guitar and Sergei keeps up the legacy- love this group and amazing performances
Absolutely...When Terry led them and Jimmy wrote the brass pieces.
I agree too. Would love to see them in Concert. 😃❤🎶🎼🎵🎤🎧
I've said it before, Sergey was one of the biggest losses for this group... he was amazing!
Why did he leave?
I heard because he became a new father

I forgot just how good rock music sounds like...Chicago are musical geniuses
American, TEXAN here! One of many visits. THIS IS SO AMAZING! I love it! Never get tired of Chicago. Never get tired of Leonid and Friends!
Hi Texas....good to meet you here...
Health and safety to you from Georgia 👍
Man, Russian Jon Hamm is KILLING IT on the trumpet holy crap!

All excellent musicians. The Chicago band members will be proud!
When your 2 year old grand daughter sits on you lap and watches this from start to finish, and throws up her arm and says YES! at the end? You know there is something special about these performers! Yes, she is half Estonian!
Wow, so cool. This groups remastering of these songs needs to be part of all children's introduction to music.
I'm pushing a lot older than your grand daughter. And when she says YES to this music? That says to me that you're a great Grandaddy!! And you're giving your little one a wonderful experience when it comes to music. Bless you and your precious one.

I feel this cover is better than the original as this horn section is bigger and drives harder!!!
@@wizard9403 Absolutely...!!!! Their energy is amazing...!!!!!!
And these guys don't really speak English either as a side note
So talented! Exceptional cover....
Same here, I listened to Chicago's first 8 albums thousands of times in the 70s, worked out how to play many of their songs and still see the original band as the major musical influence on my life. This cover blew me away when I first heard it. Nothing can surpass the original, Robert Lamm's creativity and singing Terry and Danny's parts. However, this cover is fresh and at the same time authentic. No insult to James, Lee and Walt who I am nobody to judge, but this brass section is utterly amazing, maybe the recording of horns has improved since the late 60s?? James Pankow and I suspect Walt were an essential part of the Chicago sound, the arrangements are probably the best of any popular music, remember the Chicago horns even recorded for bands like Toto, James Pankow is enormously respected by the cream of the cream.
I’m a huge Chicago fan and never thought any one could do a good cover. Boy was I wrong. This band is fabulous.
Check out old days, make me smile and I’ve been searching so long-
My high school years started with CTA. Morphed into Chicago. Every Chicago song from the early and best years is brought out in the performances of Leonid & Friends. Played a few jobs in a Chicago cover, but these musicians are truly genius. The feel of the music, the presence and vitality that Chicago had in their early years is here in this band! We pray for you in the Ukraine for your safety and your sanity.
The pinnacle of Leonid and Friends- the original members and the new horn section. Serge in studio, too.
I agree, this is their best version on the have ever had.
This captures the original sound of Chicago. The drummer is beyond killer right on par with Danny Serephine! Brilliant!
So are all the other musicians in this group. They are truly awesome, getting "Chicago" to where it was pre-1978.
He's a BEAST!
The drummer is so chill. Just slaying it.
Igor kills it on the skins!
Edurns - don't mean to bust your bubble but this guy dose not have the groove that Danny plays. These old timers like Danny have more swing than a rock beat. That means they have room to let the drum beats breath, that's one of the reasons why this band is so incredible.. In this song Danny pumps the bass drum in a 1 4 beat constant while he dances his hands around that beat. That's why this drummer hotdogs it to much because he plays 1/4, 2/4 beats how ever he feels. Doesn't keep it solid. Its not bad just totally different feel. Most people and inexperienced and experience drummers can't tell the difference. Rock beats ten to make the song more repetitive an less creative and more boring. That's not Danny.
this is only my 900th time listening to their rendition against Chicago's and they are perfect...
That guy absolutely nailed the trombone solo.
Say that again
i KNOW! I KNOW! Every time I come back to this group, I am thoroughly blown away again, like it was my first time hearing them. They are stunningly good. And these Chicago pieces are also stunningly beautiful.
I know. I have to listen to this song at least twice a week.
The greatest cover band I've ever heard! They put a lot of the originals to shame!
4 years later with a new line up - we miss Serge and Sergey but the newbies keeping up the magic.
My ears are almost bleeding from turning my headset up to max for the trombone trumpet duel. Well worth it!
Kielty... from the black hat to the stripe horn, with the funky saxophone player, did play this back and forth multiple times!!!
That tingle you get in your speakers from the entire brass section is the result of well maintained instruments being played by pros who hit those notes right, into expensive microphones that pick up every nuance of the frequency spectrum, and mixed into perfect balance. You will need to play Chicago's original records on a high end turntable through a high end stereo system to get that from the original records just simply because the microphone and recording technology wasn't as good as this.
Yes! That was electric.
Quality brass!
From the first time I heard that song back in the 70's I ALWAYS crank the volume for that trombone solo!
MY SPIRIT SOARS EVERY TIME!
Every band member is bad ass and the drummer kicks ass !

Agreed100
I don't think Leonid will ever find anyone who can replace Sergey Kashirin. Too bad he left the band. What an amazing talent!
Completely agree. While the replacement guitarist and singer have talent in their own right, they can't replace Sergey's spirit and charm. I know the band must move on, but it's a shame to lose one of the anchors of the band.
Sergey, Kasenia, and Igor are my favorites. It is sad that Sergey is no longer with the band.
This has happened many times in numerous bands.
Sadly, most often everyone loses.
It’ll be the same here.
He had a wonderful opportunity but has blown it.
He’ll live in regret for what could have been.
Now, with Putin’s lunacy, even more so…

As a drummer myself, I can say that there is no best ever drummer (although we have our favorites), and we drummers all learn and appreciate our love of music together. I learned this to be true from my favorite drummer Dave Abbruzzese. That being said, this drummer is very good!, haha.
I been following Chicago for 40 years, I have never heard a band sound so much like them. This sound is so good the horns are great. Keep it up guys.
I think they sound as good as the originals.... from the 1970’s and 80’s. Love Chicago, but they just can’t sound as good as they used too; these cats though.... they lay it down like English was their first language. They had to work so hard to recreate such a work of art. The sincerest form of flattery.

What's more, these guys don't even speak English. A word here & there, but ALL this is learned Performance!
Beautiful Horns!!!
To be sure, Alexandr's trombone solo was spot on. But equal props to Andrey's trumpet solo starting at 4:12. The way those two musicians played off one another was incredible. So well done.
I'm very picky about covers. But this ranks as one of the best ever!
Absolutely Tracie
This band does every song as if they are/were the originals. They never miss a beat or a note. These guys are just too good.
Once again I say, "Musicians should control the world, not politicians." The love and artistry of this great group of musicians bring joy to all of us. Thanks for all you
do. We need a lot more art and music which brings us together not things that break us apart.
.
This! and only this.
Yesss🙏🏻☮️✌🏻
Well and correctly said !!!👍👍👍❤️👍👍👍
Brilliantly said!
I truly believe that the Beatles music prevented war during the Cold War with Russia. The kids there were turned on to music rather than politics. Just like your message: Music has a way to reach the oppressed and enlighten people's minds.
4 years later and I am still listening to this incredible band. If you have not listened to their music before please please do so. I cannot imagine anything betterfor this type of music and for that matter almost any music at all.
Powerhouse. One of the best covers of any band I've ever heard. Real talent here.
My Friend and neighbor, 8 years my senior had a basement lair with 4' fluorescent black lights and posters, a 6pc Rogers Drum set and a kick ass audio system. He and I smoked a joint and after CCR and the Doors, (bands I'd never heard before), he put on Chicago and this was the first song to play. It sent chills throughout my body and changed my brain. I wanted to be as good a Drummer as he but he was trained at the Hart School of music and I was run of the mill. Instantly I became a CTA fan amd went out to buy this double album. This performance takes me back to that experience every time I play it! The clarity and note for note reproduction, the backing vocals, the Front vocals, every single aspect catches the very essence of who CTA was and I'd sooner see this show than any current CTA original member band. I'm 61 and never thought I'd be able to relive those experiences. Not since seeing CTA live in the 70's have I been so moved. Leonid, you and your Friends have gone beyond doing CTA justice. Please come to Bethel Woods in NY! In the meantime I'll continue to enjoy your performances on youtube. Than you all for such a wondeful and loving tribute to a once great Band that helped shape the Music World.
You need to see BRASS TRANSIT
ABSOLUTELY AGREE W YOU..!!!!!! Its so emotional that i cant stop tearing...
WELL SAID !
John - I grew up in northern MN in the early 70s and thought I'd never see Chicago performing live. To my good fortune, they played at the CA state fair in 2007. Tears streamed down my face as I heard one of my favorite bands play such tight harmonies that I'd remembered from years before. Leonid and Friends resurrects those harmonies.
Of course everyone shows amazing musicality here, my personal highlight though is how the singer delves into the voice of Robert Lamm and plays the guitar part of Terry Kath simultaneously. Not a small feat.
Hell, yeah. You said it!
Yes! The singers name is Sergey Karishin
The vocal is amazing - and this guy may not even speak English. And yeah, playing superb guitar while doing it. But Igor, the drummer, is my favorite. He just drives the energy with his dead-on Danny Seraphine licks.
@@bearnurse1 Sergey KaSHirin - not KaRishin) Merry X-mas!
they are certainly not mucking around
What a full brass section and sound, fun to see Serge switch to a 12 string acoustic guitar, he plays it so well and is at ease while singing lead, best cover band hands down.
The trombone solo is the best. You can hear the apple shaker, wood block, & cow bell perfectly. The bass is just at the right level then brought out for the solo. Perfect performance by everyone!
I just can't stop listening to this song- played to absolute perfection
Amen to the 10th!
To perfection is exactly correct!
@@jonycreche2731 Yes . perfect. I finally understand the words, they're awesome, truly awesome!
me too
Right so tell me why it has 200+ thumbs down. What is negative about this? They are musicians with true talent and they are killing it!
Technically one of the best bands I've ever seen
What talent! Thank you all for the sheer joy!
I always loved the horns in Chicago. Michurin and Zyl did NOT disappoint. This (and 25 or 6to4) are phenomenal. Such classy showmanship.
WOW - Seriously.....I HATE covers. 99% are just not good. I'd rather listen to the original. BUT this is the best. There is a reason why very few attempt to cover Beginnings....because it's FREAKING HARD!! You have one hell of an ensemble. Ok, I gotta go listen again. Cheers!
ditto. mik
Absolutely. These guys are simply FABULOUS. Can't believe they were just here in Clearwater and I missed them! Next year.
Chris Nutley Listen to the Jay Sekulow band on YT. Their covers are amazing as well.
I agree wholeheartedly. I hate most covers. This one is great.
@Putting on the foil I just saw them last week here in NYC. You're right, they are also great.
I would love a "I colluded with Leonid and Friends" t-shirt.
They should put out SOME kind of T-shirt, yes!!
Me two
Gave me goosebumps! This band is terrific! To say the least.
I've seen Chicago do this song live several times, the first time when they were still called The Chicago Transit Authority. I'm sure that Bob Lamm and guys loving your cover. As usual, everybody was spot-on and fantastic, including the great vocals, not to mention those tasty bass lines! Oh, and Igor is a BEAST!
I get chills when I hear the trumpet and trombone player belting it out together. It brings a smile to my face. Excellent playing! You all are great!!
G Allen I was expecting to hear at the end just the drums and percussion like Chicago does it. Kind of disappointed that they didn’t do that. But otherwise no complaints.😬
for sure - great stuff.
Oh man, this is the kind of stuff you can crank up. Those horns are no joke.
Ditto!!!! The original ending would have been nice but I like the way the did it.
Horns rule! Leonid sums it all up at the end...."YES!!!".
So much about this presentation is marvelous. But the trombone and trumpet soloists are just over the top. You can tell they spent hours listening to Jimmy and Lee's original improvisations. Great stuff.
........to the last note, but-t-t more refined !
awsome performance i think!
These guys are simply amazing. I never get tired of listening to them.
A new friend just sent this to me! Wow💙Timeless "Joy"🧡
The band is great. Robert Lamm would aplaud your effort. But your drummer kills it every song I have heard you guys play. He is unbelivably good.
Lead guitar is also killer! The horns too! In fact they're ALL damn good!
From Russia with love...think you can feel it? One word, Tight !!!!
@@jeremiahcordero2737 They make the word tight seem a little looser. They capture every nuance and then season it with a slight Russian Accent which only adds to, what, this phenomenal group of musicians.
Yes he is!!
..as is the bassist...and all the others...
Now at 76, I have been a Chicago fan from the beginning with the purchase of Chicago Transit Authority in 68 and many albums and concerts since. I just could not get enough. As well as they are still playing, discovering LAF brings the life, vitality, energy, and emotion back to the music. Chicago now sounds as a tribute band to LAF. I don't mean that as an insult to Chicago but in recognition of LAF's love of Chicago's music. I now play a LAF video when I need a dose of Chicago past or reach for the wax.
First album I ever bought and I got it the week it came out. Cost was $4
Good call I get it
God bless
Leonid & Friends are better than the current Chicago lineup.
@@ankihansen2489 Not better, they play it as everyone wants to hear it....like the original recordings. The current Chicago Band plays it a bit different to mix it up and try to innovate. There are tons of studio musicians that can emulate Chicago to a Tee but these guys had the guts to go forward and learn everything about the songs, dynamics, emotion, etc., and that packaged with their sheer desire to entertain makes them one of the best cover bands I've ever heard.
@@MrGlibguy Sorry but it doesn't feel the same with the new guys in the current Chicago lineup, they don't have the same chemistry that Terry Kath and the boys had. At least Leonid & Friends try to recreate that chemistry and they do it well. Even if the current Chicago lineup always tries to innovate, they fail miserably to recreate the magic, sorry but I skip them now. Robert, James Pankow and Walter Parazaider are not Chicago by themselves, let's get that straight.
Simply incredible! This one brought goose bumps. Prayers for you all during this difficult time.
I am 69 years old and when I listen to them play Beginnings and 25 or 6to 4, I feel like I am attending a Chicago concert. Great great great band👍😊😊😊👍😊
I'm enjoying experiencing the Chicago sound recorded with modern equipment to modern standards. It's like a time machine that way. It's not often we can experience a what-if scenario like that. These guys have stayed absolutely true to the original sound, but the recording equipment is so much better today.
Wow, is there any one in this band that isn't a monster talent?
How True!!!
no weak link - all stand alone STARS ---- all of them...
Maybe the trombone player's tailor, but other than that...
@@dimitriczapkiewicz4238 probably all classically trained
@@pmichaelreed103 Do you mean trumpet player?
I am amazed at two things: 1) This sounds as good, if not better, than the original. and 2) this song still sounds great after 48 years. It is still relevant after all this time.
I think they are better.
@@neilanger2538 YEP !
I said the same thing and I've seen Chicago five times in concert over the years.. These guys are as good as the original Chicago. The Chicago of recent years is not as good as these guys.
Hope Serge is safe....the music is beyond words...the studio videos bring a personalization making one think they are in the studio with band...and can't comment without giving props to Ksenia. She adds too not only the music but the entire performance.
Chicago could turn around and say they are doing a tribute to Leonid & Friends.
This band is solid as a rock.
