- Fighting game inputs can get HARD, even if you're one of the BEST FIGHTING GAME PLAYERS on the planet. One such example is a set of combos from Street Fighter 4, which we STILL struggle with today. We challenged @jwonggg @Punkdagod @Kizzie_Kay and @MarlinPie to try these Gen combo trials out for themselves.

What challenges should our players try next??
A Smash tournament with non-Smash players. People love to see gods become normalized. Ask Justin, Punk, Cola, KK, KP etc. to play Smash to see how their natural skills translate.
Play a real sport
waveshining/multishining competition 😩
get marlin to do chin or ash trials in kofxiii; everything else is gonna be easy for him lol
Would be funny to see them doing blazblue combos as a lot of them are having fun with it
You should have them time themselves so we can see who finished the trials the fastest.

I’d like to see Smash players try some combo trials. I think it would be interesting to see what they think and if they can do them.
Leffen is godlike at fighting games but he's the only one I know can play other FGs at high level.

He fucking abused Chipp in an Evo online tournament, and after patch 1.10 he crying about how Chipp is death on Twitter, Leffen switch main and Twitch chat use Chipp to beating him quite consistently but he keep moaning
Loved watching this. I was a Gen main and remembered how hard those trials were but worth it. I wish they would have brought him back . Here’s hoping for an appearance in the next game.

I I remember correctly Akuma addresses his illness before the fight and after battling it out, Akuma kills gen, as he wanted to die in battle.
Punk's knowledge of game mechanics is otherworldly especially his ability to recognize how to do something and how the game intends for you to do it off visual cues
Xian's Gen were some of the highlights of SF4.
I cleared every SF4 trial with PAD some years ago and it's still the hardest gaming achievement if not the hardest thing I've ever done.

Seeing these guys, particularly MarlinPie (who is a beast in MvC3), do Gen combo trials is always awesome to see!
Gen is one of SF best characters.

I really love this kind of videos where pros do strange/hard combos from the past. True fgc vibe.
As a Gen main, watching them struggle on the easy ones, made me chuckle. Especially that one dude saying medium kick into hands is important, no, crouching medium punch into hands does 10 more damage, has more range, and more corner push. Plus that medium kick into hands got invalidated by the standing heavy punch + medium kick target combo.
It was in Vanilla where it was a borderline infinite so that's what always stuck in people's minds.
Gekiro timing hard engrained into my soul.
100 years ago, at the ripe young age of 102, Gen was a DnB nutter.
SF4's 1-frame combos really blur the line between brilliant, insane and just downright sadistic. Considering that I used Gen in Alpha 3 because of his dial-a-combo simplicity to get in damage, SF4 Gen is incredibly hard to use, and everything about him, El Fuerte and Crimson Viper just scream 'lol, these guys are for pros. Stay far, far away dude'. So I'm not surprised that you guys are showcasing Gen, El Fuerte and Crimson Viper's trials.
Now have them do this with Ash’s trials in KoFXIII

I remember going through SF4's trials. Some of them are actually good/cool combos! Gen and Viper gave me the most trouble.

Oh those were the days. Doing these all night till 4 am just to get the blockhead icons only to never do any of the combos online. Sf4 was really something back when it first dropped.

I always found some of his bnbs more challenging. Fadcing from heavy hands and linking into st.mp took me a while to get. The hardest stuff of course is the mid combo stance switching AND charging. Still get my mind blown watching Xian back in the day. Wanna talk about examacution??
Also, luckily, they swapped ex and hk upkicks in ultra so heavy is now just mashable.

@@slim3710 I play on stick, so his pianoing isn't too bad, it's not as rough as like Honda's. Usually coming off of mp, it's just mp, hp, mp, lp, hp. Or the target combo in which case you go hp, mk, hp, mp, lp, hp.
Watching this reminds me of the old days of struggling doing the tutorials in MK Deception Konquest. 9yo me was so bad at it. And I just wanted to see Scorpion.
As an old Gen main watching people practice Gekiro timing by counting out loud brings back memories.
I remembered my Dad buying me the original SF4 back in 2009, my first street fighter game. I was having a real hard time getting into it because of the 1 frame links, charge motions, and just weird inputs overall.

Yea I agree, at least in sf4 you can see all of inputs and not have to turn a page like a book in kof13 lol.

I got the platinum for SSFIV on PS3 back in the day. Still the hardest grind out there. That C to Shining C trophy was a battle.

As a Gen main I came to see why it's apparently the hardest because I don't remember it being so bad. And it looks like the players didn't seem to have too much trouble with it either lol.

I remember doing these trials. It took me 2 hrs to get that last one down. That damn timing was brutal.
Timings in SF4 were brutal in general. Still had loads of fun though.

I learned to do this without plinking on pad when it first came out. Took me at least an hour for Gen and his combos.
For that gen combo from standing mp to standing mk to mashing punch. You gotta push mp twice and then mk and keep pushing P so it keeps your presses

I remember the ONE FUCKING TIME I did gen’s dumb ass kick extension right. I cried. I only had dialup at home and had to go to the library to watch the CZcams explanation and then write it down to take home and try to do it lol

I did these trials on both PS3 and PS4 on pad. I thought Viper had the hardest trials until I played Gen's. Glad these days are over for the trials. 😅

Just a tip when you have to do lightening legs or hundred hand slaps and your on an arcadestick just rub your hand from right to left or left to right execute doesn't matter the bitton strength.

The last trial was originally much harder because you had to time the kicks. For most of the game's life, HK Gekiro was the difficult one to time. Later Capcom would switch it with EX kicks because they rewarded a hard knowckdown and timing it was the price you had to pay. A hard knockdown of course being incredibly valuable in a post unblockable setups (i.e. Xian) world.
They shouldve done el fuerte trial tbh cause to hell with that run stop fierce
Gen is OD on button box. His charge moves mixups are impossible to deal with, kinda like Vega in SFV

If you're thinking combo trials, you gotta go for dead or alive 5, Ryu Hayabusa's combo training. I swear I came out of that trial a pro ryu main. There's literally full joystick rotation grabs in the air.

Gekiro(Finish): Devide it into 3 parts. 623K > K-K > K-K-K-K-K . The last part's time interval must be shorter than(or equal to) 2nd part's and itself. That means You just need keep a steady rhythm in 3rd part. BTW, the latest version changed: only EX version applies to this rule.

The only character's challenge I could complete was Hakkan, and the only way for me to do it was to have turbo mode on my controller.😔

I guess they're playing on different versions? Mantis U2 getting 1 hit on juggle was fixed at some point, so I guess those who got the 1 hit also have it so that EX Gekiro is mashable and HK needs timing instead of the other way around, which is how it is now. Or maybe some are doing original trials and some are doing Ultra trials, makes more sense.
Considering the difficulty people give Gens trials, I’m surprised I was able to beat them with relative ease compared to other trials. Especially since I’m a mid controller player. I found some of Dans and Vegas trials harder than any of Gens
