- In this video, I demonstrate how to mount lighting fixtures or camera mounts to the tops of QSC powered speakers or any other speaker that has fly points on the tops of the speaker cabinets.
Here are links to products used in this video:

5/8" Pin with 3/8" thread: amzn.to/2Oa34dC

Appreciate you taking the time to share this. 👊🏼
really cool video, but quick question...Why mess around with the yoke and mount when you could have just bought an m10 bolt or wing nut and threaded that directly through the light bracket to the top of the speaker?
Came here to say this
If you don't have fly points and the top of your speakers are fairly flat you can use strong outdoor use velcro strips (15lb+ hold). Trim them to size and they are very secure. Only thing is there isn't adjustments up and down like it is here when you attach using a fly point on the bracket.
This is just brilliant Joe! Big fan of your ceremony mini dj set up. 👍
Thanks!
That is awesome, super clean!
Great video and informative solutions for all mobile DJ's.
Thx for sharing Joe, love the clean simple setups. Cheers
Thank you!
Just ordered! Thanks for a great tip!
This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing. I'm trying to figure out how to do the same thing with my JBL PRX-715's.
Fantastic video!
Great Job Joe
Great quality sound
Great video Joe! You're always coming up with awesome ideas! The camera mount is a great idea too however you might get a lot of vibration in the video. Sometimes just setting my camera on it's own tripod just near the speaker I get a lot of vibration. Keep the videos coming! :)
Good point on the camera mount! Thanks Danny
Outstanding!!!!!!
Wow - really slick!!!!!
I love the go pro mount !
Thank you. As of now, that is untested. I think vibration will likely be an issue. We'll see tomorrow :-)
Thank you great idea
Awesome,... Saved me $$$ and Great Idea...
Pretty awesome stuff
Thank You
Thank you for your comment!
good video and idea
Wow dude impressive, you gave me ideas on my custom network, highs box
Nice! Thanks. When you do it, record it... I'll check it out.
Love the channel Joe! I would like to see a video on how you use Honeybook. Basic workflow kind of stuff.
I will do that soon!
Great idea
Thanks! It's been working out pretty well for me.
Liked and subscribed! 😊
Thank you!
Good stuff
Thanks Djay
like the idea for the camera mount on top the speaker.
I just bought a couple of M10 Bolts with a wing on top. It's cheaper and does the same thing.
Yuppppp
Doesn’t stick out as much either
You read my mind on that last option, to add a camera mount to it and put a gopro or regular camera, the only thing would need a remote control to run the camera..
Might be too shakey though. I'll try it out and let you know.
will work for a mackie 15A speaker. and put 2 lights together
Are you asking or telling us? I also have the same mackies
I just bolt the lights directly to the speaker using m10 bolts
That works too :-)
Ya I do that too, it's a bit cleaner looking & less parts.... also there's another mounting point on the handle in case you wanted just 1 light centered
This is a great idea - is there a certain kind of M10 bolt I need? For example M10*25, M10*35 or *45?
@@MrMaui38 Yes. You need to find the correct thread pitch.
Great video! Quick question..Does mounting a dj light to the top of speaker ever burn out from vibration?
Cool we use those fixtures to light up our DJ Booths they was evenly and no hot spot which i hate LOL they also make a 100 watt version is that what you are using or the regular ones we use? please post a follow up with some footage we would love to see how this turns out knowing me I would get those clamps painted black LOL love how clean this set up looks.
They are nice lights... you are correct about that... No hot spots. I just have the regular 30 watt version. I bought them used off ebay for under $200 for the pair, still in the box in like-new condition so I couldn't turn down that offer. I plan on getting a pair of the 100 watt versions. I'll be using them on Saturday for a rather tough gig to light. I'll definitely be doing a gig log. It's an outdoor event under a pavilion and they don't want to turn on the awful florescent lights up in the roof. I'll be shooting 22 uplights on each of the supporting poles and I'll have two wash lights on each speaker to light the dance floor and the guests on either side. Should be interesting.
@@JSEntertainmentCo If you ever want to really take it to the next level we use the COB Cannon Wash ST it's a little pricey but wow the colors, coverage etc.. is amazing we use two of those with two UV COB Cannons and it just look great when we do photography or video it makes the pictures look awesome... thanks for the Tip I really like your idea i'm going to see if B & H has these parts in Black LOL.
@@PaparazziEntertainment I've used UV 500w cob cannons for corporate gigs with amazing results. I just checked out the cob cannon st due to your recommendation. I love it... and with an 80deg spread too. Thanks for the tip!
My simpler method if anyone's interested: search "stud knob" on Amazon. Place the light fixture directly on top of the speaker and tighten the bolt in with no tools!
This is great thanks! Read another comment that we can also just use an M10 bolt
nice man! if u wanna sell that old solution, id take it ;) or how can i get that small pole for the light? you were cutting an old long stand right? Also, where is that "previous video" u mention? thanks :)
Could you just get a stud that has 5/8 to 3/8 then just washer and nut the side to the light?
I am curious about the next steps, how do you connect the lights, the power cord is 6 ft, Do you use power extension ? Do you use DMX cable ?
Have you tried with small moving heads ? Or a little heavier wash fx2?
How do feel about an M10 x 40mm Hand Bolt straight through the hole on the lighting fixture into the fly point?
Joe,
I don’t like trusses or totems either. My speaker has two M8 threaded holes that I can mount lights too. I would like to do this. I would like one light on top of each speaker. My question to you, what two lights would you recommend? I’m fading away from weddings. I primarily do karaoke and private parties. Please help!
Paul
Do you have links to sellers? Great idea!
Why not bolt lighting on handle they have screw hole and that is how I mount one of my lights with a bolt thru they legs on the light
You seem like a pretty crafty person. Can you think of a way to mount a Chauvet DJ Gigbar on top of QSC speakers?
You’d have to get a 1-3/8 pin with a 3/8 tread like the ones you put on top of a Totem.
That's a great idea! Where can I pick those up from?
Links are in the description. Thanks!
I am running QSC CP8 speakers with a Bose Sub1. The CP8's have a threaded hole in the centre of the handle. I think your speakers have the same. Why not just use that hole to mount 1 light in the centre?
That’s exactly what I do! I have an LED park on each k12.2 and sometimes a KINTA FX. I haven’t risked to try a moving head or similar.
Do you find your speakers tilt by only having one light on one side? I imagine it could look a little wonky due to the asymmetrical weighting.
Only my original K12's do because the pole socket has some wiggle room in it. All my k.2 speakers don't tilt.
Can a speaker control a light as dmx ?
👍🏻
Thanks Man!
The video from that camera will be shaky with each kick drum beat.
That's old news
Still useful
I have tried mounting a GoPro on a speaker...the video is COMPLETELY useless as the camera vibrates HEAVILY!!!
avoid doing this, speakers arent meant for mounting stuff. It starts looking like a 3rd world dj system
Good stuff
Thank you!
