First run with the table saw lathe. Turning a 4x4 teak post into a large dowel

A friend of mine asked me to turn a 4x4 scrap of teak he had laying around into a dowel for him to use for the riser on his hi/lo counter. I watched a bunch of CZcams videos on how to make a lathe for your table saw and used bits and pieces of each of the videos and built mine. I did one trial run on a piece of scrap to make sure I wasn't going to destroy his expensive piece of wood and then I ...

    its been a few years, and im sure youve improved a lot, but i would probably use a 5 inch box and try to use a GFCI somewhere, whether you have it inline on one of your powercon cables, or a GFCI receptacle. if you use a receptacle though, make sure its rated for outdoor use, just in case you get caught in the rain, you dont have the potential to hurt anyone, and when its outdoor rated, it wont trip as soon as a drop of water hits it. theres also raised cover plates you can get, but theyre designed for use in walls, so youll have to get a little creative, but even just 5/8s of an inch will get you a lot more room to work with without adding much more space. there are also electrical boxes that have larger knockouts than 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch. im not sure if those boxes come in stamped or are just welded though

      Thanks for the comment. Yes they are a bit tricky to wire. I still have them but have upgraded so to speak. Now I use these: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FPRTZXN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And to your point, my first point of connection at the wall is a GFCI wallwart plug: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037NXKY0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8 which I use when I'm doing outdoor wiring. That one is a 15A and I also have a custom cord with an inline 20A GFCI.

      @masterbond9 Před 24 dny

      @@JSEntertainmentCo I didn't know that those boxes existed. That is super cool, even if they are expensive... As for the GFCI, yea they're important, and as an electrician, you can't always trust that the electric is up to code, especially when things are only temporary. I would even use the GFCI if the venue seems a bit shady, because there are applications where you can substitute with a GFCI if there is no ground. I always tell people to just use their judgement...

    I’ve got a noob question that possibly doesn’t make sense… since you’re daisy chaining these, would it be possible to wire them for two circuits? Somehow go from two male Edisons to powercon? That way you could power the whole chain with two circuits and have some extra juice if needed?

  • @kevina.600
    @kevina.600 Před 3 měsíci

    If you don't have fly points and the top of your speakers are fairly flat you can use strong outdoor use velcro strips (15lb+ hold). Trim them to size and they are very secure. Only thing is there isn't adjustments up and down like it is here when you attach using a fly point on the bracket.

    You mentioned the tent situation where you have to share a breaker with the lighting, kitchen staff etc. You then said that you had a solution and went into how to use a wirelss mic to make a wireless speaker? But if its a powered speaker youd still need to get power to it and that doesnt address the sharing of a breaker. Was hoping you had some amaxing solution but i didnt hear it
