      I don't understand how the f is THE LONG SWORD weapon the best weapon in
      the game ??? I start to consider using a hammer or a bow.
      With long sword Half the time i can't even finish my combo, because the monster runs through me behind me and my combo hits nothing but air, because the character doesnt turn around that fast.
      So i cant even get the spirit shit up.... and even if its up i cant finish the spirit combo ( R2,R2, R2 and R2 ) to get to the next level to get to red so i can use R2+ TRIANGLE , because i need the last move to hit, but the whole combo takes so long that again the monster has time to hit me or just change directions again and the whole attack misses.
      Its absolute pain to do combos with it...
      the combos are too long the whole weapon feels clunky to use in a real fight... it looks cool in training area but fighting moving targets who also can run over you, bite you etc.... it's absolutely shit in my opinion... how the f can people fight with that thing???
      can someone explain it to me???

    • @Easton959
      @Easton959 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@tanelviil9149If you have difficulties completing the spirit combo you can try doing a spirit attack after a fade slash, you will immediately do a spirit blade 3, making it much faster(there’s another attack in between I just forgot what it’s called) you can also try to do a special sheath counter(which unfortunately also a attack that I forgot the name of) will gain you another spirit level. Yes, bow is the actual strongest weapon in the game, but the long sword is the strongest melee weapon.

    It's cool that Quick Sheathe 3 doesn't just make it faster, it actually completely changes the animation for Special Sheathe. If you don't see it, look at the way the hunter spins the sword. Quick Sheathe 3 goes the opposite direction.

    The drawing double slash also counts as the first move in the spirit slash combo. This is useful if you have about half meter, and land both hits, you can immediately go into your spirit slash if you have the opening. It's just a quicker path to that final strike. These workshop videos are your best in your channel. They are the main reason I subbed to you. Incredibly helpful and professionally organized. My one single criticism would be to differentiate the combination of buttons a tad better. Glancing at X -> A and X + A when spaced identically apart is tough to decipher at a glance. It would be awesome to see a colored X+A vs a white X->A or something of that nature. Anyways, thank you for all your hard work on these videos, I know they've helped me a TON!

    One thing worth mentioning about the drawn double slash is that you are required to do a thrust after it, meaning you can't use foresight slash. The step slash doesn't have this problem, allowing you to attack while the monster is readying it's own and use foresight to raise your level easier.

  • @Vauche
    @Vauche Před 3 lety +10

    Something new to Rise, there's an expedited special sheathing animation after performing the Iai Spirit Slash now. This works even if you miss the counter or the monster, so if you slash through them or whiff and need to run up to the monster to do your drawn double slash, you can hold down R/Sprint for a pretty cool spinning sheathe motion.

    • @geremysorlinigiguere9535
      @geremysorlinigiguere9535 Před 3 lety +2

      They'll all super viable. If you look at speedruns the weapons kind of all trade spots for being 'high tier' and it ends up being more about monster matchups than weapons being stronger in general. Some weapons struggle against specific fights but there's no one weapon that pulls ahead of the others across every fight.

    • @sethyboy0
      @sethyboy0 Před 3 lety

      @@geremysorlinigiguere9535 I haven't looked into rise speedruns but in World there were definitely weapons entire tiers above others.
      Just because some weapons are better doesn't mean they're not all good enough though. The best players on the worst weapons will destroy monsters faster than an entire team of new players on the best weapons. The biggest thing holding you back is yourself, which is why it feels so good when you really get a weapon down.

      True, once you get the second of bugs and assist it really opens up. Silkbind moves are really bad till wyvern dive, which is near the end of the game but you can do a lot of damage and KO like mad with a blunt bug. I get faster kills with IG than most weapons it just lags behind badly till you get useful bugs.

      @@FoxTenson I Fully disagree with the statement that the silk bind moves are bad. The forward leap makes you KING in the air, great to chase a monster and lets you stay on the ground or hop in the air wth x or a. Recall kinsect is by far the BEST evasion skill. You get a small heal(or large depending on ur kinsect). You get really far out of the way if you need to or you can click A to immediatley spin back into the action to do a few aerial attacks. Not to say wyvern dive isn’t amazing. Just recall kinsect is ABSURLDY good and totally slept on.

Every weapon has their own builds and the gem slots r necessary for those builds. so 1) i'm guessing your a longsword user and 2) yes longsword isn't he only weapon that trips but it is the one thats most likely because it has wide sweeping attacks that r meant for filling up their gauge and 3) all the other weapons that flinch you can be fixed with a simple role or side step.

      @@stbernardy7 I actually play Switch Axe, the /real/ trip monster of Rise.
      Also, no. Literally no meta sets right now need level one jewels for anything other than personal preference and even if they do usually have one free.
      The only exception is dual blades, which have to gem in the element jewels which eat their level 1 slots.
      And maybe bows but bow shouldn't be getting tripped anyway.
      Point is, you can definitely afford the one point flinch free necessary to eliminate all minor trips from other players, and you should take it anyway all the time in multiplayer just because of quality of life. If you're getting tripped while Flinch Free exists, it's your own fault.
      It allows multiple people to hit the head, which is optimal for damage in most cases anyway.

    Your discussion of Sakura Slash in the "Which Switch Skills Are Right For You?" section is wrong. You absolutely have something to spend your meter on: Serene Pose.
    Without Helm Breaker, Serene Pose normally becomes your highest DPS. Spamming Sakura Slash is considerably lower DPS thanks to its extremely slow wirebug regeneration (Serene Pose takes two, but both come back much, much faster), plus the ability to go straight into Spirit Slash 3. Just like Helm Breaker is your bar-spender normally, Serene Pose is your bar-spender with Sakura Slash - Sakura Slash is a good way to apply a lot of status and to get your red bar back up when you're struggling to land a spirit combo or counter.
    It's great if you're newer to the game because it gives you an easy fallback when you're having trouble getting your bar up, and it's also a great introduction to countering since Serene Pose is so much easier to counter with than Foresight Slash or Iai Spirit Slash.
    It's also fantastic in multiplayer even if you're good at LS, since the other counters are a lot less reliable and it's a lot easier to miss a Helm Breaker when the monster might decide to turn and attack someone else. It's easy to land Sakura Slash in multiplayer, and Serene Pose is by far the easiest counter to pull off in multiplayer.
    I think a lot of people have missed this - they tried Serene Pose, noticed it took two wirebugs (but usually not how fast they recharge), maybe didn't notice it takes a level of bar on a successful counter, and figured spamming Sakura Slash was the way to use wirebugs when you have it equipped. Or in the case here, seemingly noticed all those things about Serene Pose, but didn't put two and two together, and think that Sakura Slash is this weird ability that gives you a level of bar without giving you any way to use it.

    Some more facts for people:
    - Helmbreaker and Serene Pose's damage scales harder with Spirit Gauge than Longsword's other moves. You lose a lot of damage when you use them outside of Red Gauge level, Red vs Yellow Helmbreaker is a 62.5% damage loss. Serene pose suffers a 70% damage loss when used with Yellow instead of Red spirit gauge.
    - Sakura Slash doesn't give a darn about Spirit Gauge level, it grows a small amount per gauge level but hits quite hard assuming you land both hits on the monster. It also does more damage than a Helmbreaker at any gauge level except Red. At Red though, the Helmbreaker does 40% more damage. Both skills are entirely good choices. Sakura lets you spend your meter on more Serene Poses.
    - Speaking of Serene Pose, it does about 25% less damage than a Helmbreaker at all gauge levels. This isn't quite true it varies between 23-30% from gauge level to gauge level but its a good approximation. At Red Spirit Gauge a Serene pose hits harder than a Sakura Slash, so if you're playing a counter heavy style then this can be one of your major DPS tools. Especially because you are damaging a monster when it otherwise couldn't be safely attacked.
    - Spirit Reckoning hits 8% harder than Roundslash at all gauge levels except Red where its 12%. To help you decide if you think the mobility + damage is better than the Hitbox/AoE of Roundslash.
