A tip for Metsu Shoryugeki: Get a palico with the move "Summeown Endemic Life". Your cat will regularly bring you a third wirebug, making using the skill a lot easier and less punishing.

Great Tutorial! Just one note as an SnS main:
You can back hop after any move in a combo, including Spinning Reaper, so something i have found really nice it to loop Perfect Rush by ending it with the spinning reaper and then back hopping and starting Perfect Rush. In addition if the opening isn’t large you can do the shield bash/drill slash combo, end with spinning reaper, and then back hop into advancing slash/sliding slash, and then repeat. Not sure it this is the absolute most damaging combo but it’s been what I’m using (the inputs are Forward + A, A, A, X+A, Back + A but don’t hold back or A, and then repeat). I find this combo works best with Sliding slash and Drill Slash, however it works well will any configuration of skills

It's worth mentioning that from most SnS attacks that launch you up into the air you can use your Falling Shadow. It's not exactly useful for damage, but its pretty useful if you're up in the air and the monster is about to do something that'd swat you outta the sky and you need to get out of the way.

A few things I'd like to add: Falling Shadow has some few extra properties that were not mentioned: you can use the move midair to cancel other moves you were currently doing, for example you can use Falling Shadow, do the jumping slashes and use another Falling Shadow instead of committing to the falling bash/slash, which can be useful if you notice the monster's starting to attack you or if it's moving to reposition. You can also cancel the jump you do during the perfect rush with the Falling Shadow.

Protip: While S&S is a weapon that has no skills unique to it, it does benefit greatly from Wirebug Whisperer 3. The reduced cooldown on it's silkbinds is a welcome improvement, as Metsu Shoryugeki's damage output helps (Metsu is considered more useful than Windmill due to being able to target a monster's individual parts or head more easily, making tripping or KOing more consistent).

Always appreciate the work that goes into this series, I think the specialist food skill kind of makes the status attack decorations less imperative as it's now very easy to inflict status attacks, at least in my experience when it comes to bishten bow & the zinorge HBG, both of which I now have at max level, but even when they're after their lower state combined with the specialist food skill, I found you only need to use between 5-10 Max shots for the effect to take place. I'm 74 hours in also, I also used the LBG & HBG BG during Gens & GU respectively. In short you can probably get away with needing status decoration or charm if indeed you can get one in this entry? Only just found out you can get handicraft charm, so I'm unsure about status decs/charm's

One thing I've noticed is that the sns also has an...okayish ranged damage option, though technically everyone has it. Since we have unlimited kunai it means you can spam them in moments where it's not safe to approach. Throw in the dango skill that increases kunai damage and you're replacing what would be 0 dps downtime into a small trickle of damage.
It also means you can bide your time a bit easier when fighting annoying monsters that keep bouncing attacks.

I'm patiently waiting for the Great Sword workshop. Patience is a key skill to master with Great Swords anyway.
Great video btw!! I'll definitely check SnS now

Thanks for all the content and I totally understand burnout. Hope to see more shorter videos when Sunbreak launches if you feel like it. No pressure but I'd love just seeing the combos a weapon might use during a typical hunt. When learning a weapon it's hard to find a concise demo of how to pick it up. Half this video is the "Weapon Moves" section so maybe it's the hardest part.

One thing that's great to mention about the falling shadow silkbind move is that it has some invincibility on the aerial slash portion and when you land the hit. This can be useful if you want to time falling shadow into the end of a monster's charge where it will still have a lingering hitbox.

The guard slash is actually really useful cause you can initiate it right in the middle of a combo which leads to putting up your shield really fast while keeping up the onslaught

I am super new to Monster Hunter in general (dabbled a little in World). I picked up Rise last week and I'm loving it, but at the moment work is definitely getting in the way of playing more. I've been switching between Long Sword, Dual Blades, and Sword and Shield for the first few hunts to get a feeling for what I like the most out of "beginner" weapons. I really like the Sword and Shield playstyle, and this helps a lot. Thanks.

I'm kind of a new player to MH, started with World and mained longsword, it was a bit overwhelming to try to learn other weapons while also learning everything else in the game. Now with Rise these guides are definitely hyping me up to try new stuff, already want to try HH and SnS. That's 2/2!

As a SNS user since MH1 on PS2, I'm IN LOVE with the Down Thrust from Wirebug and the Thrust and Twist. Both combined make for non-stop offensive onslaughts that are just incredibly fun and make heavier weapons seem super duper clunky now.

Good video. Went over everything that I had to piecemeal elsewhere previously. Not the hugest fan of Rise, but S&S is a favorite of mine in this game, so when I get the bug to play S&S, I play Rise.
