    In order for the charcoal to work you have to crush it up as fine as you can get it. the finer the charcoal, the better it filters.

      Umm. Charcoal doesnt work instantly right even if it is crushed to fine dust? That clearly wasn't proper drinking water. Could have killed him right. And boiling it doesnt mean you kill all bacteria. Some bacteria survives water boiling temperature is what i found out on google. I mean he drank something that went thru a fraction of what the government does to literally make sewage/raw/sea/ground water drinkable for human.
      Unless behind the scene he made diluted choco milk?

      No the charcoal can be ground finer than most sediment so nothing but water can get through the gaps, there is no chemical reactions that happen.

    Water filters use a special type of charcoal known as 'activated charcoal' to purify water. Activated charcoal works through the process of adsorption. Note that adsorption is different to absorption. Adsorption binds impurities chemically on the surface of the charcoal filter rather than physically absorbing them.

    Brother put a small piece of charcoal in the glass and keep it for sometime in the last step it will filter it.

    The charcoal actually has tiny little holes in its surface area and it adsorbs its not absorb, so the bacteria and bits go in the holes.

    I am an Australian Scout. The best way to filter water is to put it through any sort of filter. Then boil it twice which will kill all germs and dirt and other junk

    So basically the carbon in the coal bonds with the big nasty stuff so it kind of acts like a sanitizer but the water is fine since the molecules are smol

    Charcoal is made up of different elements including carbon and the more charcoal fine charcoal is the better it works and also same thing for carbon which is in charcoal that gives it it's filtering properties.

    To do this properly you would need to cause some coagulation and and do some other filters for a long time. This was a brave attempt, but please do not gather random soil and try to filter it. It won't be clean and could give you some nasty diseases or worse.

    Charcoal has holes, so it's pourus. Dirty stuff goes inro the holes to filter it.

    I filtered rainwater from the rof with a coffee filter and then I boiled it. because I did not get any water from the water pump, I did that for about a week before I found a gas station where you could get drinking water.
