Mike Leigh is one of my all-time favorites. Meantime and Life is Sweet opened up a lot for me. Alan Clarke's films helped as well. I was raised in Baltimore, Maryland but somehow these films resonate with me a lot.

Capgungoesbang and you have Alexander Payne in USA, he's great too....
The fact that Jarvis responds visually and not verbally speaks miles to his interviewing ability
Overawed vacant hipster.
Thank god for Mike Leigh, Alan Clarke and Ken Loach. The films they made for tv couldn't be surpassed.
Don't forget Peter Watkins.
D'Ascoyne I can't believe I forgot about him, I just rewatched Punishment Park.
You can tell Jarv is absolutely amazed by him!
Meantime is an absolute gem
It shows how bad life was back then I was there 1983
@@geraldcummiskey6721 depends where you lived at the time..... but the east end always had high unemployment
I was in in Glasgow Blantyre back then
i *love* that jarvis doesnt say a fucking word in this video that lists his name
It worked - I saw 'Jarvis' and immediately clicked - Mike Leigh was a lovely surprise
I hope he doesn't say a word in the entire interview on the release.
Yeah, especially given it's supposed to be a discussion
Looks like Coxy nicked his cushion.
Mike Leigh is an absolute genius. No more to be said.
Mike Leigh is a treasure.
Tim Roth is fantastic in this film
Wonderful film.
Love Meantime. The cast are wonderful in it but Tim Roth's Colin is a great character.

Jarvis looks like he needs a shave and a hot shower. It's as if he's been shipwrecked for a couple of months.
It's called a beard. He looks perfectly clean.
