  • First off, if you are in the market for a Can Am in Arizona, be sure to checkout Nash Powersports www.nashpowersports.com - Bill will take care of you.
    We drove Bill's personal Mav R, and the car rips. As a whole, it did a lot better than I thought it would, and I'd love to spend more time in one. Comment below if you've driven one, and if you like it or not.

    Who has driven a Mav R and what do you think?

      Nick, you and I don't always agree, but I ALWAYS appreciate and respect your opinions. Great vid! Thank you! Now, about that ride in the SpeedUTV....

      Just bought a Mav R XRS SS. I have less than 200 miles on it. My previous car was an X3. Here’s my response to your question about a CVT in the R chassis. As with you, I’m finding out the R is a completely different vehicle. Everything about it is, to one extent or another, different. The seat of my pants feeling is the X3 was like a 2 stroke bike. The R is like a 4 stroke bike. Still learning how to manage the DVT.

    I had my YZX1000RSS turbo 10 lbs boost for 7 years,valentines gift from my wife 2024 Maverick R XRS , absolutely love it, i put on RPM down pipe and their chambered muffler . Thought i would love the paddle shifting;Ike i did in the YXZ…. But I don’t even use it as for me it shifts so well and doing 90 mph in the desert happens in about 5 seconds !! Best gift ever ! I’m 6’8 and fit in the R pretty good !

      Thanks for the feedback, and I will say at 6'3" I liked the interior and fit of it as well.

    As SXS's become more advanced, we all tend to be more critical of their "faults". But compared to any 5 year old SXS these new ones (Pro R, Mav R, Speed, etc) are all amazing machines. Of course for how much they cost, they should be. Thanks for a honest evaluation, and as always your videos are excellent quality.

    great insight. I've got to say though, this is a car that takes several outings to get used to. I tell new R owners that first you will love it, then hate it, then kinda love it, then kinda hate it. For me I ultimately love it.

      I could see that! Probably love it in the dunes and tolerate the DCT in other areas

    I did last weekend, felt the same as you about the clutch and rear suspension working against each other, we all thought that was an uncomfortable situation, (6 of us drove the car over 3 days) Power lacks down low, hauls out the back end. (we are in the desert)
    Overall the bottom line reminds me of the X3, Throw 10k at it before driving it and you have an awesome car. Still some single sheer issues that concern me, needs cage, 35's, full springs and valving on shocks, and as you mentioned, some evo stuff. I think im gonna give a couple manufactures 2 years to combat some issues before i move ahead past a PRO R.
    Thanks for your input as well, that's how we can all make educated decisions by listening to everyone's opinion, and now you have ours.

      Geared transmission definitely has less “squish” factor, so wrong gear will bite the whoops harder.

    I just picked mine up last week. Coming from a turbo r. It is different for sure. But I am a high speed road rider, so no belts was a selling point for me. It is going to be an adjustment for sure. And I too hated the front end at first, but it’s grown on me.

    Reminds me a bit of the x3. A car you buy if you have 10k or so to throw at it right away (cage, single shear, valving, tuning) to get it to where you want.

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 26 dny

      I haven't heard much of the single shear, and structural improvements, rear suspension seems to hold up? The X3 axles were puny, but held up for most.... IDK, time will tell, but my point is that as shady as some of the Can Am stuff looks, it holds up well for everyday offroading. Hopefully we don't see the frame issues we saw on the X3....

    I really want to see what they do with the Mav-R Max trans. I keep hearing "things".

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 26 dny +1

      The 4 seater will be the ultimate test... but CanAm/ Rotax's reputation is top shelf as well.

  • @robbnutter4665
    @robbnutter4665 Před měsícem +2

    I heard that Can-Am has some SERIOUS fit & finish issues with their plastics and it's "par for the course" and to be "expected" which (to me) means that Can-Am knows and (seemingly) does not care. What say you?

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 26 dny

      I mentioned the front plastic cover almost flew off, which seems common, and janky. Overall, the doors and rear storage are much improved, I think the fiti and finish is better than the X3 for sure, but for $45K I expect it to be.

    I'm disappointed that method is not making the correct offset and that could be why your experience in the woops wasn't great

  • @highrever558

    Looks are pretty subjective, I and everyone I know think the all iterations of Polaris rzrs, pro r included have absolutely fugly looking front ends contrasted with can am or speed machines, also interesting how folks today don't want to be bothered with powerbands or shifting gears despite experience on bikes...

  • @stepheno.2730
    @stepheno.2730 Před měsícem +1

    Given the choice, I’d stick CVT. I like always being in the power and have never minded a belt.

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 26 dny

      Its the dirt bike analogy- riding a 125 sounds cool, until you try to put together some fast motos, a 4 stroke is so much easier due to all the low end torque, and not shifting every 50'.

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 26 dny

      That was a "reaction" video, and much of the customer base felt the same way. Obviously it's different once you drive something...

    • @ChupacabraOffroad

      I thought it’s only losing 17% of its power through the trans, which makes it super efficient … still I’d like to try it

    • @ChupacabraOffroad

      It will eventually get better but def rough around the edges… still the top dog in the bumps on the hardpack… it really is a “pre runner” in that regard

      @@Owneddd1 Polaris truly hit the perfect chess move going 4cyl, with the size and weight of these cars increasing, it was a brilliant move. Very curious to see how the 4 seat Mav R (when released) holds up with the extra weight on the little 1,000 motor, that car will easily be 3,000lbs with accessories and 4 adults in it....

  • @jamesmoore2007
