10 is harsh but in all honesty I’m not mad about it. If your making a premier league top midfielders list the fact that a player hasn’t won the league at all during his entire year is a big black mark on their resume. Then add the fact that he literally was the reason why his team lost the premier league and the argument becomes can you even include gerrard in the top 10 premier league midfielders?

@@Max-rk2bp winning is a part of the game. And I may have forgotten to mention this but gerrard isn’t a Messi or Ronaldo. He is an amazing player (on a list of the greatest midfielders ever) but he’s not definitively better than his peers. I mean just in his generation there’s an argument on him, scholes or lampard. The fact that he hasn’t won the prem is a huge markdown on his legacy in terms of the premier league. The whole list is about the 10 best and greatest midfielders in the premier league of all time and the fact that he has never won it is a huge black mark on his case.

Shaun putting gerrard in tenth just gave me a mental breakdown. This guy was so good. People only talk about lack of trophies and numbers and how all he could do was lead a team and shoot from outside box. I watched him from when he was young until he retired and he was the most all-round midfielder. He could defend so well. His tackles were on point and crucial. He was physical and wasn’t afraid to get stuck in. Only lack of stamina towards end of career. His passing range was insanity. Him and Torres was one of the best things to watch as a Liverpool fan. Even in that one shit grey kit. He read the game and made those passes to break through gaps. We talk about his shooting and he had worldies left right and centre. It’s like he would hit them out of nowhere. He played every position on the pitch(apart from keeper) to a tee. He ran with the ball quite a lot actually and won a lot of fouls early in his career. His leadership wasn’t like Henderson In present day. It was more of an inspiring lead by example leadership. 🤯WORLD CLASS! The fact that shaun put kante in 3rd and gerrard tenth is so funny it’s concerning at this point. I love kante aswell but nah just nah.

He won us the champions league in 2005 and he was the most important player for us. He could do everything and his shooting ability was so great which Kante does not have like Gerrard. Kante is a very good player but I think Shaun is truly deluded.

There's a myth that Keane was a hardman over everything. Go and watch any Man United game from 93-2005; he was an unbelievable technician and he never passed the ball backwards or sideways. The leadership and hardmanship made him even better, but don't ever be fooled, that man was a baller.
As a United fan that rates Roy Keane highly, the only argument that sits alright with me is if you're basing your list off technical ability and numbers. Any other reason to not have Roy Keane minimum 5th is bullshit
Nobody who actually watched united since the 90's would put scholes ahead of keane. Keane was always considered the better player of the two, until scholes retired and nostaligia took over

It’s mentioned that Gerrard scored over 20 goals in a season and they’re surprised. Wait till they find out Gerrard scored 20+ goals in a season on 3 separate occasions. He also played box to box and was relied on to do much more than just score goals. The playmaking, defensive prowess, positional versatility. Unlucky not to win a PL. As an individual, the best midfielder for me.

I am not mad if someone pick Lampard over Gerrard because his effectiveness for goals is truly one of a kind, especially when you play as a midfielder. Fact fat Shawn thinks Gerard isn’t too 2 at least in prem history proves he don’t get ball at all. The guy had more world 11 appearances than lamps and scholes. SAF wanted him, Jose wanted him. Zidane said he was the best player in the world. Gerrard in that Chelsea team would have won them way more and scored and assisted way more. Lamps in that Liverpool team wouldn’t have done shite

Makélélé never gets a mention. Xabi Alonso was also one of my favourite players growing up.
Alonso's prime was in the 2010's, not at Liverpool. I don't think he would make it into this EPL list. But definetely a mention. Makelele as well, not good enough to make it but still amazing
@@lucasalaniz76 Yh, my issue was with the fact they weren't even mentioned. When you're bringing up names like Michael Carrick over Xabi Alonso and Makélélé, someone is seriously deluded. Also, David Beckham is *criminally* underrated. Because of his name off the pitch, people forget how good of a player he was. 6 Prem titles, 4× PFA Team of the Year, Ballon d'Or runner-up, top assists for 3 years... David Beckham should be Top 10 MINIMUM in any Prem midfielder list. If you're excluding Beckham, then Fabregas, De Bruyne & Touré just become recency bias.

I don't think I can name 5 guys that are on or better than KDBs skill level and have his technical ability in the history of the Prem .
Kante has been world class for like 5 seasons, there are guys that have been world class for a decade and half in the Prem

And KDB has only been World Class since 17/18, in which Kante had 2 EPL’s and a POTY by that point

he did it in Man City, Kanté is way more all rounded and has done it with Leicester and now Chelsea. I'm not in denial of KDB's skill level, but don't try and drag Kanté down.
@@goalarzoh7720 1) Kante is phenomenal and the best box to box midfielder in the Prem in the last 5 seasons, but on pure achievements he's achieved the same as Kante, more Premier League titles, one less Champions Leagues and more domestic titles whilst having as much if not more individual awards
2) Kante is a box to box midfielder so his job requires him to play a lot of defense which makes him seem more well rounded, but KDBs offensive prowess, technique and creativity is leagues above Kante. Every player has their advantages and responsibilities in their position and what they bring to the team. That's like saying a Ferrari is better than a Prius just cause it's better at saving fuel and costs less.
3) This was not to say Kante is bad, but having Kante at 3rd all time and Kevin de Bruyne at 10th all time should be ridiculous do even the most hardcore Chelsea fans

They took into account longevity and consistency of top performances as well as natural talent. I don't think anyone would argue against Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes being over him. But you've also got Vieira and Keane. After that's its debatable how you rank the likes of David Silva, Fabregas, De Bruyne, Kante and Toure. I wouldn't put De Bruyne in the top 5 but I don't think anyone's objectively wrong for putting him 6th or for putting him in 10. Those 6-10 midfielders all have strong arguments.

This might be coming from a place of bias but to not have roy keane in the top 4 is mad he was arguably the most important player in the treble winning team and in the 1999-2000 season he won pfa player of the year something the likes of Lampard never did
I don't know if he was definitively the most important one, definitely one of the most important, but I don't know about top 4, he wasn't a skillful as the others, he was a ridiculous workhorse and an incredible powerhouse with elite mentality, but the skill isn't as great as some of the all time best (obviously still very good technically but not as much)
