    All of this is so disturbing! I didn't vote for religious fanatics, privatization fanatics or fact-free fascists who are ready to scapegoat people like myself.
    I thought we couldn't stoop lower than W, but I was wrong. We no longer have a representative democracy. We must do something. I know the opposition is the majority in this country; let's band together!!!

If you voted for him, you, and everyone who did, shouldn't have the right to complain. You surrendered your voice with your sense.

    2:17 I really wish people would stop using royal terminology to describe people who are NOT. Most of the old monarchies of Europe (I stress MOST, though certainly not all), I.e. in the last 200 years or so, were/are nowhere near as bad as the American rich and these so-called "right wingers" of the USA are nowadays. Trump has stated more than once that he believes that his family's power, fame and money make them some kind of exalted form of life, and I have no doubt that he believes his family to be some kind of nouveau royalty. To see Trump on a state visit at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle next to Queen Elizabeth II will be hysterical - he won't be able to bare the fact that he is in the presence of an ACTUAL royal personage who is a monarch, something his money could never buy!!! He only wishes he could parade around with a crown on his head!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

    I'm a Christian myself, and the last thing I want to see is theocracy in the United States (which, by the way, was something singled out by the founders as abhorrent in an open democracy, and very wise they were, too, in that way). We have always enjoyed the perfect balance here, at least in potential: anyone can be a Christian, and anyone can not be a Christian, and they are equals. Anyone, also, by our law, can be a Muslim, a Sikh, a Hindu, a Deist, an athiest, a soothsayer, or someone who worships cats, and enjoy exactly the same rights and freedoms.
    It is patently unconstitutional to teach Christianity as an official state religion or even as a religion that's supposed to be preeminent in the United States. There is this thing we've heard about- it's called, from Thomas Jefferson's letter of 1802, referring to the First Amendment Establishment Clause, "a wall of separation between Church and State."

      *****: That's convenient to do that, but it doesn't do anything. The fact is that the United States is an open secular democracy, and that allows for a great number of behaviors that you don't approve of personally. While you might have good reasons for what you believe, there's nothing you can do about other people behaving immorally according to your ideas about it. Nothing. Because they aren't breaking the law. Unless someone is breaking the law, you're going to have to accept that what they do is outside of your control and outside of the control of the Church, and something that is inevitable, and none of your business, either. Did you think that America was a Christian church? Are you trying to impose Christianity on everyone- on those who aren't interested in it? Do you realize what a secular open democracy is? It is a pluralistic society that permits very little interference in the private conduct of the citizens.
      If you want to try and compel other people to change and become like you--if you want to try to control the behavior of others- and if you want to go so far as to try to get the government to get behind your effort, of course you are welcome to try. But you'll crash into the facts, and into the Constitution, and you'll end up right where you are now- frustrated that people do things you don't like.
      Guess what? What you do and don't like isn't very important. We have laws, and some of our laws are actually designed to keep people like you from going too far. You can control no one but yourself, and your disapproval of the behavior of other people is meaningless unless the society at large has made their behavior unlawful.
      God is the judge, not you.

    • @alyishiking
      @alyishiking Před 7 lety +1

      I'm a Christian and I agree 100%. The idea of living in a fascio-Christian society sounds like a nightmare, because at the essence of it is nothing remotely Christian, but rather allegiance to a genocidal state of white supremacy. Nazi Germany was in part a Christian fascist state.

    • @bretfisher7286
      @bretfisher7286 Před 7 lety +2

      +Alyssa M: It's completely oppositional anyway. It's not only unworkable and impossible, it's unsound from the perspective of the teachings of the Faith. If Christ always did describe His own life as something hostile to the powers in the world, and told His followers to expect the same hostility as a cost of belief in Him, then how can American evangelicals explain trying to link Christianity with secular power in America?
      Of course they can't explain it.
      Because they have this perfectly backwards. Instead of making sure that Christ can bless the world through them, without any self-seeking on their part, but only a desire to heal and serve, they turn it around and try to use Christ as political leverage. A prop, a tool to advance in politics.
      Rather unwise, I would say. Pretty arrogant, that.

    • @bretfisher7286
      @bretfisher7286 Před 7 lety

      +Alyssa M: Alyssa, I find it so hilarious that conservatives love so much to beat the drum about the Constitution, except when they'd rather not have it interfering. The founders were exceptionally insightful. Their flat opposition to anything like theocracy came from very clear reasoning and review of history. They knew absolutely where it goes.
      So what's the motive, then? Is it really about good moral teaching? Purity? When conservative Christians try to insinuate the Faith into our pluralistic open society, are they doing it from pure sweetness?
      Of course not.
      I tell them all the time that it's quite transparent.
      They do it to acquire power and to expand certain political constituencies on the Right, because in all of this they serve the Republican Party first, and Christ, if at all, second.
      Their assumptions are wild. First, that Christianity can be compelled in the first place, and be what it is. Second, that the state can administer any religion fairly or without interfering all over again in secular freedom of thought. And, that there's any way to justify an attempt to overturn our founding principles no matter how virtuous they might think themselves to be at it.

    This is a tangent on this that was not addressed. Who polices these mercenaries? If they step over the line in Africa, who stops them? Who holds them to account? This is the problem with privitazation, at least with military functions.
    One question that Chris Hedges has asked is "How many of these private military men are fighting with us in Afghanistan and Iraq?" The answer is that nobody knows. They have no overseer, not even the Pentagon.

    I am just curious who this man would recommend for presidency and cabinet picks on the next election. I would really like to know who he thinks would be good for America and not a corporate head, lobbyist, banker, corrupt whether dem or rep, etc...At this point, I think corruption is rampant on both sides of the aisle.

    I remember when Blackwater changed their name. This from Wikipedia - Blackwater (company), a private American military company and security consulting firm formerly called Blackwater Worldwide, renamed "Xe Services" in 2009, and "Academi" in 2011.
    Anyone remember Xe as the final element of the periodic table? How about this latest name ?

    Yes, exactly as the title says. But I protest, is that not what it's always been? Is it not better that there is no middle man, some politician giving us fancy words while the extremists, moneymen and racists do their business behind the scenes? Is this not in it's bizarre way, the tiniest of victories? Transparent government at last?

    Mr. Blackwater, your proposal, if carried out, would end America's influence in the world by any other means than military force. Fits well into your business model. However, would pull America into a disastrous economic and military over-reach.

    "The very word 'secrecy' is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies,
    to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far
    outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its
    arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it.
    And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very
    limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my Administration,
    whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent,
    to cover up our mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know." -
    President John F. Kennedy address before the American Newspaper Publishers Association at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, New York City, April 27, 1961
