“We spoke out against racism, hunger, gangs, crimes, and turf wars, as we embraced all people with hope and the spirit of brotherhood. It’s just as apropos today.” - WAR
WAR, the original street band, was founded by veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein and rock legend Eric Burdon in 1969. Together with the original band members Lonnie Jordan, Howard Scott, Lee Oskar, B.B. Dickerson, Harold Brown, the late Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen, and Charles Miller, they blended many musical styles and influences. The musical laboratory that is WAR yielded 17 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, including the triple platinum ‘The World Is A Ghetto’ and double platinum ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ and ‘Greatest Hits’, and hit songs "Why Can't We Be Friends?", "Low Rider", "Spill the Wine", and "The Cisco Kid".
WAR began playing live shows to sold-out audiences in the 1970s and continues their commitment to being road WARriors, touring over 150 dates a year to this day. - Hudba

It's amazing how the Chicano culture embraced this group like it was their own people making the music.
Great music HAS no boundaries.
For sure. When you have boundaries, the mind stop growing in all Creativity. Especially in loving one another. Thomas Correa
@@thomascorrea3937 ... I will definitely use that quote in my life sermons to my grand kids.

They where one of the best bands every. Every one thought they were Spanish or Hispanic when they were in Albuquerque New Mexico. I walked across town to see them. 👀 they were very good . I got home 6 in the morning my grandfather beat my ass. .I had a blast.

So cool! Whites and blacks collaborating on some gooood music. My white dad indoctrinated me into some great music, and I am forever grateful. In that time, this band was so right even if considered counter-culture or subversive. When millennium ethnic minorities look at me like an old head, tobacco chewing bumpkin, I laugh. "You have no culture, looking through a race-only prism of differences, when culture is an exchange of great things, not skin tone."
