CHINESE DIESEL HEATER HOW LONG WILL IT RUN ON A STAND ALONE CAR BATTERY

  • the average amp draw per hour for the heater (for the Espar, I'm assuming the Chinese heater is roughly the same) is about 1 amp So i would say about 12 hours on a 30AH car battery this is just a guess

    Thank You for sharing.
    Here's some additional info for those who need it:
    If You are using the diesel heater in your garage, then get a DC 12 volt 15 amp power supply, and forget the batteries.
    if You need to run it in your car, or off the grid, then a deep cycle leisure/marine battery is the best choice. a 50 amp lithium battery will provide as much as a leisure batteries twice the size (AGM etc. don't like to be charged below 50%)
    If you need to charge the second battery in your car, then "for crying out loud" DON'T just make a switch to charge the battery while the engine is running - you will get a big spark inside the switch. - The safe way is to Install a battery isolator or a battery separator between the primary (car's main) battery and the secondary (Diesel heater) battery. This device allows the alternator to charge both batteries but prevents draining the primary battery when the engine is off. This is the system used in boats, caravans etc.
    If you're using a specific type of secondary battery (e.g., lithium-ion), a charge controller may be necessary to regulate the charging process and prevent overcharging.
    Do it the right way the first time, and you will not be the person, begging strangers for powercables.
    These tips have kept my system happy for years, and hopefully You too will enjoy the heat from Your diesel heater.
    Have fun, and stay safe!

    Trick to using these overnight is to install a separate battery for the heater and a toggle switch and battery isolator to connect with the car battery/charging system. You flip the switch when your engine is running to recharge the heater battery. Also, its a good idea to use a small flexible solar panel on the roof with a good quality controller. Super easy to do, and very affordable!

      +1 The solar panel is a great idea ;-)

      They make a switch specific for that. Mainly for people charging solar in a camper van but automatically switches when you start the van from solar to the alternator to charge.

    When you turn it off and it has cooled down, then try and start it again after 30 minutes, this is when you find out if you have enough power to start it up, as you know the glow plug sucks a lot of amps out on start up, mine will start up 3 times, then after that I have to top the battery.
    up

    If your battery is 100ah it will provide 1 amp for 100 hours. So if you're heater is using say 4 amps it should last 25 hours. It's not quite that simple with voltage dropping and stuff but should be something like

    500wh 13 hours high setting, 20+ medium, 30+ hours low setting....... So AGM 100ah (1,200wh) 50% usable energy will last you 13 - 30 hours depends on setting

  • @petethewrist
    @petethewrist Před 8 měsíci +1

    Start the fire set at high or low setting it does not matter it will only start at full power automatically then drop down to set setting. Also when you shut it down left on low it will still go to full power and glow ugs will come back on to burn itself out clean, so cut the bull telling people to turn it up to full power to shut down. And also note the fan is running all the time no matter what setting the fire is running at.

    Usually have a 10amp fuse.
    So you can equate a usage of 10 A/h.
    So they burn about 1 gallon of diesel in eight hours or 22 L. So with 100 amp hour battery you should be able to run a good eight hours. However, depending on whether you have a lithium ion or an AGM battery, you might not want to run that battery That low as you could have issues trying to recharge that battery. And, as you already covered, if you're running it from your car battery and that is your primary source in the morning when you make it through the night, you might not have enough power left to start your car as it was already stated in the video.

    Once the diesel heater is running, does the glow plug turn off or is the glow plug running all the time?

    I use an old car battery 70ah, but the heater brings the error 01 wich means there is not enough power to start the "flame", the screen is on and i have power to controls, but it fails to start the heating itself, can i use my battery charger pluged on the battery when it runs to add some energy, does it help boost the electric power somehow or i need to change the old battery itself?

    This seems like it is just shy of being a mini diesel motor. All you needs is an alternator designed for it's size to keep charging the battery, some spark plugs and pistons🤯 The glow plug is almost like a spark plug, but more like a catalytic metal ignighting the fuel. You have a fan creating compression.

      @beyondupnorth Před 7 měsíci

      @@mojo1737Depends on how long your fuel line is.
      If it's a combo unit as pictured you probably don't need to prime at all.
      I put fuel in mine and never primed and it went on the second attempt.
      If you have that much smoke you over primed it or if you see fuel leaking from the exhaust pipe before you start it you have over primed it
