Thanks for doing a beginners' video. When I was getting started, not quite three years ago, I had a devil of a time finding basic information on whisky. That's why I started my own Thoroughly Amateur™️ channel - and one of the videos, which probably I need to update, is bottles I recommend for beginners. 🤠
Love it! I’m gonna check out your channel.
Appreciate you watching 🥃
Stop hating on Woodford. I still consider myself new to bourbon. Ive got around 50 bottles, probably tried 50 or so different ones over the past 3 years. Woodford is by far my favorite for bourbons I can find in any store. I like the sweet stuff. I get why the bourbon snobs don’t like it, it doesn’t smell like gasoline, its not high enough proof to power their model T, and it doesn’t smell like house fire. In all seriousness, great video and good luck with the channel!
Listen here tater hater…bring all your Woodford on over and we will have ourselves a jolly ol time.
Thanks friend 🥃
My 3 favorites are 100 proof Old Grand-Dad (Basil Hayden is on the label, made in Clermont KY), 100 proof Early Times in the middle of going from Brown Forman to Buffalo Trace in Frankfort KY, and 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey for $31. The other 2 cost a little less, and are aged less than 7 years. For me, more about how I feel the next morning at 65 years old.
Definitely agree with it’s important to drink something that doesn’t make you feel too bad the next day.
I haven’t had the Bernheim wheat, I’ll need to add it to my list.
Rob , Great video on this as many channels focus on seasoned and/or haz mat , not many are for the tenderfoots out there ! There are a lot of starter bottles but you might have to dust them off from being on the bottom shelf but that is OK with me. I would add Old Fitz Prime , JTS Brown (80) and Quality House or if you need more proof JTS Brown BIB , JW Dant or EW 1783.
I’ve been told a few times I need to try out JTS. You’ve convinced me I need to pick up a bottle asap!
As always, appreciate you watching 🥃
@@thekychew The BIB is a sleeper for sure !
Great vibe to your videos partner! Keep on hunting!
Thank you! We appreciate the support 🥃
Well that certainly is a list. A Green River or that Buffalo Trace sitting in the background (I know hard to find... but not impossible) would be a better pick and cheaper than that Basil Hayden.
I agree BT and Green River are great. I kinda figured those are mostly (more readily) available in Kentucky. That was a main reason for not including them.
Definitely recommend either one of those for anyone starting their journey of collecting.
This video was more intended for those who have never tasted whiskey and want to see if they’ll enjoy it. Appreciate you watching 🥃
It looked like Japanese whisky in the thumbnail.
I have a bottle of orphan barrel ,barterhouse 20 yrs..it was a gift,,but the problem is that i dont drink..
I’m sure alot of people would be glad to take that off your hands!
Double double oaked Woodford is a distillery only release I thought? Your bottle looks like a double oak.
You are correct! I misspoke in this video.
I was wanting to highlight how good Woodford double oaked is and that beginners should give it a try.
Appreciate you catching that!
