I've never been a fan of the thought of Sonic joining Mario Kart, but after playing this track I honestly wish it was real now.

That would be cool. Maybe Mario representation in Sonic games would be cool as well. We already had Yoshi and Zelda levels in Sonic Lost World so the idea doesn't seem too farfetched

This is one of the most high quality custom tracks I've seen in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! The only thing it really needs is rings. Props to the modder for going the extra mile!

I wish he had poses for whenever he did tricks, because I think we can all agree that he’d do the Sonic Adventure box art pose.
Base coding limitations, I guess.
He can also do those tricks from Sonic colors and Generations

I wouldn’t get your hopes up…. None of the DLC tracks we’ve gotten or been shown have been anything other than what’s on Tour and they don’t feature any of MK8’s unique features (like anti-g zones). It’s a shame but most likely we aren’t getting anything other than rehashed tracks with few if any updates/changes.

It'd be amazing if Sonic characters made it into a Mario Kart game, and courses based on Sonic levels are an easy and perfect fit
Tho it's weird to see everyone in a kart while Sonic is on foot (I know he's faster than those karts, but for the sake of coherence and that it was said he uses a car on Sega racing games to keep things fair, I think he should use one here as well)
And hey, why not change coins for rings here? That was done with rupies on the Zelda track
I've never took a look inside a MK8 track before, but I can guess that it's either 1. Extremely easy, just like it was with Mario Kart Wii's item box and assets, because the coin assets are stored within the track or 2. Extremely hard because the coin model is stored elsewhere, and Hyrule Circuit is hard-coded to load a different model. If MK8 is anything like MK7, it's unfortunately the second case.
@@mysticaxolotl8215 the game shares elements between all courses, so if I were to change the coins into rings, I'd have to change them for the whole track selection, with the exception of hyrule castle and the animal crossing track. The creator did not want to put his track over neither of those, because they're dlc tracks for the wii u version (this track has both wii u and switch versions), and he heard custom tracks may not work as intended for those slots.
If Nintendo added DLC characters to the Booster Course Pass; this is a good start.
Imagine that instead of playing GHZ Act 2 the whole time, it was first GHZ Act 1 for the first 2 laps
Each lap could be based on a different act as well
This is another example of how modders are proving they should be given the development money for these projects. Their efforts are better than the actual developers in a lot of cases. Sega should be ashamed that these guys have done better representing Sonic in a racing game (Mario Kart of all games !) than Sega has ever done themselves.
The modders didn't make the game, they took existing assets and altered them. This mod is only good cause the actual game was good. Using existing assets and making something from the ground up is different.
This mod makes me want sonic in Mario kart even more 🙂😎
I'm sure that Sonic would agree that go karts, while slower, are a lot more fun that running

I kinda wish they used Modern Green Hill’s music from Generations, both because it sounds more Mario Kart 8-ish and because the visual design seems to be taken from Generations.
You can easily change the music to whatever you want, making custom music is super easy.

I think at the end part of track with the walls with arrows on them, they should be drivable like the ones in toads turnpike and toads harbour. Good mod, better than the booster course

Oh my god the music is just as impressive as the map, to make it responsive just like a real MK8 course. Also it's such a perfect rendition of what they would do with the GHZ theme
A sonic racing game like this makes perfect sense. I don’t understand why they won’t do it again. Sonic R was the only thing I can think of that took advantage of that idea and it just wasn’t executed that well. Just have all the characters run.. why is it so hard for the sonic team to have good ideas ?

Green Hill looks so freaking well-made and polished, holy hell. It really feels like a Sonic level made into a Mario Kart track with all the things you'd see from Sonic. (Except the corkscrew being from Emerald Hill and not Green Hill :P)
About the only gripes I have with anything is the loop-de-loop camera being too close initially (which is more a problem with MK8's camera) and the tree blocking the view of the tunnel in the course intro.

Because of this mod,there should be an real Sonic mod!
Example:At the beginning of the race before the race starts,Sonic does the Sonic Unleashed animation when he starts the level in day,and he does the tricks he does from the modern games from ramps!And when Sonic is using the kite or something,he use the one he got in Sonic 2 (16 bit or 8 bit) and holds it!
Another example:More character will be replaced,like Tails,Knuckles,Eggman (But will be in his Egg mobile) and Amy but she'll be in the kart,just like Sonic R....but because Mario Kart 8/8 Deluxe is the best racing game,Amy is better and even more!
One last example:All the race tracks will be Sonic theme course,like Marble Zone,Hill Zone,Angle Island and more!

The only thing that could be improved is if sonic where to somehow hold items like everyone else in the game, and i know this sonic character mod and race track mod are 2 separate mods but it would be cool
this reminds me of this one ps1 game where you play humanoid animels that run, which was also a racing game
If this was in the official game it would be a close call with big blue for being the best track in the game imho

I feel like I'm one of the few people that really disliked sonic's smash bros run animation 😩 I'm an honest to God sonic main but it just looks so weird to me at certain angles besides the front view.
