I tried to watch several videos with Ascended version of him and all of them are heartbreaking so I couldn't watch them till the end because Astarion's personality changed completely. If Larian would ever think about adding the biting kiss I hope for a softer version of it :-)

My druid Tav has a nuetral alignment with good lean but she is not a doormat and would snap from that slap , they'd be fighting after that.

I don't know what it is, but there's something so chilling about having all these fucked up kisses and Astarion still keeping the same responses for afterwards.
Take the second kiss. He intentionally leads on Tav (and the player) with a more gentle, sensual kiss after biting her. But instead, he pushes her away, taking pleasure in teasing Tav and just leaving her with a bloody lip and no real pleasure from the experience. That twisted power dynamic makes him just as giddy as he used to be when in a genuine, loving relationship.
It's probably because dominance and power are his new dynamics now.
The 2nd kiss is the creepiest and it scares me to see how many people like it really. Don't get me wrong, if it ended with just the lip bite and kissing overall, I would have enjoyed it but the way he leads Tav on after biting her and then slaps her across the face, smirking and nodding a "no" shows how little he thinks of you now.
He reels you in just to shame you at how desperate you've become for his intimacy and approval. It's disgusting frankly. The final kiss is where he literally makes you beg him on your knees, you can't hold him or touch him...there is no passion. He is just bestowing a kiss on his slave as a favour. I don't find that hot.
Nothing against ascended fans who may enjoy it but to me, someone like Astarion who has been a slave all his life, who values consent above everything, who wants freedom more than anything...these kisses are even more proof how the ascended route is not for me. It just kills everything he was as a spawn.

Absolutely agree. Dominance foreplay is certainly hot, but only when its done by someone you love and trust and who's just roleplaying. Ascended Astarion, of course, is completely serious when he shows dominance over you, which is frightening.

I was a fan of ascended astarion because despite the whole “dom” energy he has I still felt like he still considered you his partner but now the way he just shoves you away afterwards makes me feel crap. Like you really are just a plaything now. Like tav is just discarded when he’s had enough of you at the moment, if that makes sense. All for it in the bedroom sure, but I’m not gonna keep kneeling just so I can kiss my bf and then get shoved backwards almost to the floor like I mean nothing to you when you’re finished what. 😐

That kind of feeling is basically the relationship I'm currently in, minus that kind of affection. Just a plaything to be discarded.. often. None of those moves that leave you begging for him to use you again. (The 3rd kiss had me wanting to be on my knees iykwim)

I love them even more because we can truly feel the difference between spawn and ascended... Now, we feel how much he changed even in the easiest action : his kiss.
I'm only disappointed that the player character looks so angry at the end instead of baffled/turned on. It makes no sense that you'd still hold onto your morals to such an extent after becoming his consort. I wish Larian would just own the degeneracy of this whole situation....cause these kisses are really quite hot until Tav ruins the mood with her frowns.

It is technically his "bad" ending. Having said that, it's not an uninteresting choice, and I won't drag gamers for making it as long as they acknowledge that it's the bad ending.

Before the patch, it was easier to pretend that at least some small part of pre-ascended Astarion was still in there. The part that loves Tav. Because the kisses were still "sweet".

yes this part is exactly what made the 1st and 3rd kiss go from potentially hot to just plain weird to me. Tav assumably in love with Astarion and turned on by the whole hot dominance thing, but her facial expressions don't reflect it. it isn't really hot unless both are into it and now her face just shows fear and shock and barely any trace of being turned on. A bit strange.
Yes, it's a pity that Astarion doesn't lick the blood from Tav's lips. And I don't like how scared my Tav is in all these kissing scenes. She just accepted Bhaal! She can't be so scared, not of her Astarion! 😅
I'm not a fan of ascended Astarion myself but even I can see how it's weird that Tav's facial expressions are like this. I get that they're trying to reinforce that the relationship isn't healthy, but when you consider the fact that the player is actively dating him by choice here and repeatedly asking for kisses, it makes no sense for Tav to act shocked. Trying to give the relationship such an extremely abusive dynamic is kind of difficult when the game literally allows for the player to actively choose it.

I have him ascended, just updated my game and am so regretting it😂 it felt like Astarion was still in there somewhere prior to this patch.
I hope larian actually takes into account our playstyles before doing facial expressions like what tav has. I feel that they believe every single durge/tav is good and are vanilla. Ast literally thinks “youre degrading yourself by being with him, but maybe its what you what, and he will give it to you” when he turns you. Just because hes rough and more dominant now doesnt necessarily mean a players character wont enjoy it/take pleasure from it. One of them is my durge. Shes a good person but she is into this. She loves him as much as he does her, and as his vampiric wife, this is just romantic and hella sexy for them. It breaks immersion to have her have that kinda facial expression when i know for sure she will not react this way.
There should be reply options that indicate Tav/Durge is into this kind of scenario and Larian should tweak Tav/Durge facial expression accordingly.
Err..It's not romance but yeah, if your Tav is a masochist, facial expressions probably should reflect that.
However, you have to also remember that the Durge wouldnt and shouldnt take kindly to being disrespected or treated like less than by their lover when they are an extremely powerful being...they should at least be angry imo(and clearly Larian's). Again, assuming they arent a masochist. Thats another level of RP that they would have to implement as the above reply mentions.

I feel like romancing ascended Astarion is a bit like licking that dead spider: "You feel hot bile rising at your throat as your body break into a sweat. Your vision blurs and your legs threaten to give in. Your groin feels strangely warm..."
I know from videos and comments months ago that many considered the "ending with Tav" was "sweeter" basically because of the "Lovers forever" bit but it seems in patches since then Larian has been trying to show that Ascended Astarion really does not care that much for Tav. IMO, these new kisses just shoves that point home. Ascended Astarion is rather cruel, would rather have Tav under his command, puppet to his puppet-master and "lovers forever" is really only on Tav's side.

I know i've seen other commenters say this too but why is Tav frowning so much?? It seriously killed these new animations for me... If Tav went so far as to help Astarion absorb 7000 souls I don't think they would be so upset/hurt by this kind of dynamic. Yes he is dominant and an asshole, but sometimes that kind of toxicity is what people are looking for. Maybe that's just me because I enjoy seeing/reading about these kinds of fucked up romances, but it sucks to have Tav's emotions decided entirely by the game instead of leaving it up to each person's interpretation of the kiss. If they left their expression more neutral it would be better for both sides.
Write to Larian and tell them! They might change it if they get enough feedback.
He is evil. This is his bad ending. Larian is showing you in no uncertain terms that he is not a good person and you’ve now become his possession.

I look at the frown as a twisted sentiment. Tav helped Astarion get where he is through evil intention. As a Durge, it makes sense that Tav would still hunger for power and violence. Being Astarion's spawn makes them subject to his will so Tav can't act on their own whims. The frown is an obvious expression of anger through impotence. Even when not a Durge, I think Tav would still be pissed at Astarion for treating them as nothing more than a beautiful thing to toy with. It's not for decisions made to get Astarion there, more like the fact that Astarion is treating them as if he did it all on his own.

As someone who likes both Ascended Astarion and Spawn soft Astarion.. it’s hard to see these comments of certain players who hate ascended Astarion just ascending him for the new animations. Everyone, give feedback to Larian if you don't like Tav's expressions - I sent in fb that Tav should not be looking like this if they are willingly asking for kisses. I understand some people would in fact feel that way (their tav or in RL) with ascended if he was forcing it on them and they didn't want it, but this is Tav initiating, so the default would be they want it and are into his current personality, which is this dominant style. They did SUCH a good job with the Astarion side of these, they need to fix Tav's side! (thank you for uploading this vid, its great!)
Probably, the best solution is divide animation to two and make a dialogue reaction choice. Like “You feel it, the effect of ascension. His lips became more dominant and passionate, his approach more violent… He pushes his authority on you, despite you still having free will. You feel….” And choice “Lust” or “Fear”. At least for the first time, so player can choose expression
It's not just dominant, he's now in control and the abuser, hence the expressions. You don't understand his character whatsoever.

The devs never been abused and it shows… real evil people would never do that right off the bat. First Astarion is not yet safe by any means, even as a spawn Tav still has a Tadpole. Tav can easily turn on him. (Tav can kill him, done a multiple times… bwa ha ha) The kisses make more sense at the epilogue when Tav can’t do a thing about it… in the game right now, something more ridiculously romantic makes more sense or push Tav away then kiss Tav with passion. The point is for her to get confused and chase the high of something better… love bomb Tav and then abuse when Tav’s confidence gets chipped away…
I disagree. They got it right to start, but people weren't getting it. Waaaaay too many people convinced he still loved you, even after the epilogue was added and even if you never pick anything that would upset him he still does the overbearing "always watching" line. They had to make it substantially less subtle than even that in order for people to get what was actually there.

Everyone has different wagering. And in my game, a year later, A.A. is crawling on his knees in front of my Tav. (If you know the game League of Legends, then there is the character Evelyn.)

Everyone knows how desperate and obsessed AA is over tav/durge, so in the end, the power lies in their hand instead of AA. He is like strahd, like every other vampire. Once a vampire falls in love with you, they cannot leave. Anything that pleases their bride will be anything he will do. If it pleases his bride, i am sure in due time he will kneel to feel your touch. He will kneel.
At this point Tav/Durge can not oppose him already. So this is a classical abuse, by the book.
No matter how powerful our MC is, their will is already broken. Even if they try to leave Astarion it is the matter of few months before he gains all his new powers and kidnaps MC to his castle, murdering anyone who stands in his way. This is it. No more escape.
@@A11ie_Russo Wrong. The tadpole interferes with how being a spawn works. It disrupts the control a vampire has over his spawn.
I heard the kisses are randominzed. So each comnpanion has several animations now. It's just lucky or unlucky, which you get
I just didn't dare to install the patch yet due to the merchant bugs. Vendors are too import to miss out on them. Are the issues really so bad?
The fix to the merchant bug is to just wait, and then speak to them again when it unfreezes

Y’all saying Tav shouldn’t look scared are missing the entire point of Ascended Astarion. He is incapable of loving you after he ascends, he sees you as his favorite toy, literally. Your Tav did not know this prior to the ritual, ans is slowly realizing who Astarion truly is. Even a Dark Urge Tav would feel uncomfortable and appear horrified to see them being treated like nothing by Astarion. Truly well done addition.

This game company is AMAZING. SO different than how the dudes who did Mass Effect 3 behaved. Their attitude was - (We are the arteests. You will take this major change in the nature of the game and LIKE it or there is the door.) These guys are more like... (There is a bunch of people who want THAT option? Lets give it to them!) I am an old woman (71) and I have never in my life seen more value for my dollar given for a form of entertainment that is basically there for the fun of it. They never lose sight of that and get so full of themselves that they fail that purpose for as many people as they possibly can.

I strongly dislike the fear Tav expresses. Shes part of it and asks for it? Id rather see a coy smile. Makes more sense.
I'm not surprised the overall feel of these seem not quite right. I have to say the default Tav/MC expressions in this game really stand out as being stiff and lackluster, especially compared to the incredible mocapped facial animation on all the companions which convey subtle emotion really well. Hopefully they can go in and adjust the emotion on Tav's face later on.

It's an Elegant Studded Leather. You can loot it from High Security Vault n°9 in act 3. I also used Black and Furnace Red dye on it.
I can only trigger the first kiss. I dont get it and with my other companions the kisses won't trigger at all

I love new AA kisses, they are so much in his character! But I hate player character animation of being scared and disgusted. I'm the child of Bhaal not a vanilla pony, I did horrible things with a smile on my face. I got away from my overcontrolling daddy, I took the Absolute in MY name😈 the only reason I allow AA to treat me like that is because I want that. Little vamp can play his game as long as it entertains me but in the end of the day he still has a tadpole in his head and I can put him on a leash with a snap of my fingers. Its hard to believe Durge wouldn't be at least slighted/angry that Astarian has the gall to treat them like that though. Still, you do have a point about tav, basically allowing it regardless.
That COULD still be interpreted as an abusive relationship though. Often, the abused stays, hoping that the abuser might change one day/ actually mean it when they say sorry...unfortunately with AA, that's probably never going to happen. Lol

@@A11ie_Russo при прохождении ветки на самоискупление мелькает, с позиции рассказчика персонаж называет себя отвратительным существом многократно, со вкусом и это редко можно исказить в положительный смысл. Плюс реплики про заслуженность страданий мелькают так и так

I liked to follow the Ascended version in my second playthrough. But for me this is a bit too much catered to BDSM tbh. I do not think it is bad, just less open to explore.
But I mean... OK for BDSM but what about after care ? You never see Ascended Astarion take care of Tav after that...
I don’t think BDSM is the problem; it kind of matches their dynamic with him ascended. What bothers me is that proper BDSM is consensual… your relationship with Astarion is supposed to be consensual. You helped him ascend, you obviously accepted this route. Then you ask him for a kiss. Larian thought Tav needed to look scared for her life now…? Did they really need to twist this so much to push people into condemning this relationship?

If you talk about becoming his thrall you can ask about your ability to make decisions and he makes it pretty clear he's going to dominate your will. He completely stops caring about your opinion. I really think Tav shouldn't have a scared face. Like, maybe the first time, but if my Tav is asking for these kisses twenty times in a row, then I think they are into it, no matter how toxic this man is. Though this makes me happy I didn't ascend him on my first run, because my Tav would be very unhappy with that result, and I'm pretty sure that then I'd actually go with controlling the brain.

For me it shows that Hey you wanted a kiss well here you go and that is all your getting their isn't going to be some soft sweet kiss. To ascended astarion he is all about power and being above everyone Including you just cause your his "consort" does not mean your on equal level with him and he is showing you that clearly (at least to me) by the shoving of your face he does not respect in the slightest.

I get what you mean, I think the player character shouldn't be frowning like that. That's not at all how I'd react in these situations and it feels like Larian is saying that's how you should react. Yes he's possessive and rude....but I'd be lying if I said that's not exactly the kind of kinky degeneracy I was signing up for when I chose to become his consort. I was mostly digging it until the player character ruins the mood with her frowns. Previously the extent of how evil ascended Astarion actually is was also left far more ambiguous. With this you can only really interpret him as just being evil through and through. I much preferred it when it was left open for the player's interpretation.

I think spawn-Tav definitely "likes" to be degraded by Asc-Astarion in a way. I mean that's the way I roleplay it for my current playthru. She knows he's dominant but he treasures her, even if his love became more possessive after ascending. She definitely knew what she was signing up for by staying with him and becoming his spawn so yea - i think the facial expressions should match that.@@shibernyan2009

Ah.. so glad Larian still chooses to decide for us how our character should feel for this. This is why I just give up on this thing. We do far more crueler and eviler things than Astarion, embrace being the child of Bhaal.. and get made to look like this? There is no exceptions for the Dark Urge and no exceptions to your choices. I don't like being forced into 'cowardly girl cowers in unhealthy relationship' really? This constant reinforced notion of 'if you like vampire u r bad person and should feel bad' that whomever is on over there.... someone really hated twilight this much and are taking it out on the rest of us. :P I had a more biting comment here, but decided it wasn't to my taste. @@joking2052 Based on that, you wouldn't have made the choices to get to this Astarion, so that makes sense, but if you read the other comments, those of us that willingly and happily made the choices required to get to this Astarion, agree that Tav's expressions don't make any sense. In this example, this Bhaalspawn just accepted his influence.. why would a kiss from her lover cause expressions of fear? The math doesn't math, as they say.
