  • Sheepshead fishing at Sebastian Inlet is best from January to March. I was able to get a half day of fishing in at this amazing place while I visited Florida in late February. Mud crabs were an awesome bait choice. The tide rips through this inlet.
    Shimano Torium 20HG - Shimano Trevala Jigging Rod 6'6" Heavy, Medium Fast
    Penn Fathom 25NLD2 - Shimano Trevala Jigging Rod 5'8" Heavy, Medium Fast
    Shimano Stradic 4000 - Fenwick HMG 7', Medium Fast
    100 Pound Power Pro, 80 Pound Fluorocarbon Leader
    Catch Mud Crabs under "stuff", below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, oyster cuts are nasty). The purple crabs with spots and striped legs are stone crabs and are illegal to possess.
    Catch Sea Urchins on pilings and other structure below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, the spines are non-venomous but can leave splinters and oyster cuts are nasty), I recommend using a crab net.

    Great video as always Mr. Brian. I'm sure it was a great vacation with the family.
    I love fishing in Florida when I visit my mom we usually go to ponce inlet and fish the jetty rocks.

    That's cool, no one does a video in that part of Sebastian inlet.

      Tough to fish this spot because of the current, I recommend an 8 ounce weight with an offshore jigging set up.

    Have you ever tried a dropper loop with the weight on the bottom? I like to use 2 short loops, weight on the bottom and keeping my rig tight and slightly moving all the time.

      I do like the dropper loop, I bought some Cross-line Crane 3 Way T-Shape Swivels but I forgot to bring them on this trip.

    Where did you get those nice mud crabs?

      I know, right. I can't divulge this precious information sir as mud crabs are a delicate and finite resource if over harvested. Find several good bait spots, use them sparingly and tell no one.

    How was the hookup ratio on the circles? I’m sure it at least saved the hook point for a while

    • @offkilterfishing
      @offkilterfishing  Před 2 lety

      Something I am have and am still struggling with is which size and style of hook is the best for sheepshead fishing. You can catch them on either J hooks or circle hooks, the hook set is the only difference. I like using J hooks so I can put the screws to them.

      @@offkilterfishing sometimes I fish the jetty and it will fold over your hook point after a few hook sets to the rocks so the circles could be interesting

      @offkilterfishing  Před 2 lety

      @@fisherofman6004 The two hook bottom rig suspends the bait off the bottom, preventing snags. I am starting to become a true believer.

    What pier is that I plan to be in that area in two weeks ? And how do u be finding these sheephead spots lol ….

    • @offkilterfishing
      @offkilterfishing  Před 2 lety +1

      That is the north cat-walk under the bridge. Both cat-walks hold fish, as well as the piers on the ocean side depending on the wind/weather. Good luck out there.
