Brandon, At first glance you seemed very intent on teaching Biblical truths. Next you are sharing and wearing "The Chosen". The creators (Mormons, Catholics, etc.) of The Chosen are promoting a un-biblical mixed ecumenical version of the Bible; a reverse of the Protestant Reformation. Perhaps you are attempting to tap into their following. I too am wondering, why you aspouse this unhealthy wave of mixed-christanity?
They still hold on to man-made traditions and are still waiting on the Messiah. He was there with them and they still did not believe. Blessed are those who believe without seeing 🙏

The Messiah was supposed to bring world peace and to gather all the Jews back into their land. He was also supposed to bring the knowledge of the God of Israel to the whole world. Did Jesus accomplish any of these things during His life on Earth? No. So, why would the Israelites believe Him? the ability to perform miracles is not sufficient proof of Messiahship because there were many false prophets who performed miracles. Even Pharaoh's magicians performed miracles.

From my understanding, the Messiah is the one who came to be a Priest for those who are lost (being a living sacrifice), and then he’ll come as a King. He certainly did bring the knowledge of the God of Israel to the whole world through his disciples. The main religions of the world (Christianity, Islam, and Jewish) all worship the God of Israel. Before Jesus came, people in the West worshipped nature and other gods.
Most Christians are following man made traditions also.
There are two options faith or logistics history.
Faith requires the Holy Spirit to interpret the Bible because it has subtly been altered through logistics intentionally or unintentionally.
Historical logistics takes a different mind set every word was chosen by GOD. So if you don't know what the word originally was and meant you will have a skued understanding of the Bible.
Names and numbers are not mentioned over and over with no purpose. Names in the Bible are not just Names they are words.
Numbers in the Bible are not just numbers they have meaning and also can be converted into words.
But when it is written make no graven image of anything above, on or below the Earth.
Most Christians fall short.
Jesus Christ didn't come to create Religion but to call the Prodigal Children home. Thy Kingdom come thy will be done. Not our will be done.,🙏
A simple way to explain this point is to say that by putting the letter of the law before the spirit, the Pharisees make themselves idolators in that they believe that it is rules, rites, rituals and ceremonies that will save them, and not the Divine Beloved.
The letter of the law was given by God as well as the spirit of the law. So I believe "idolatry" is too strong a word and divisive.
Of the 613 commandments that the Pharisees prided themselves on observing in Jesus' time, only 271 stand today (of which 26 can only be observed in Israel). This shows that these laws are mutable, whereas God is immutable. They were given as a means rather than as the end in themselves. When you conflate the means with the end you are, in your own mind, elevating the mutable to the status of the immutable -- worshiping the corruptible, worldly thing rather than the transcendental Father -- the very definition of idolatry. I agree with your concern about being divisive, and would never dream of calling out a Pharisee (or one of their many modern equivalents) as idolators, because my own communion with the Father is far from perfect. But Jesus had the authority to do so, and called them out as "hypocrites all," a term that was arguably just as divisive.

Quickly said, Pilot dressed Jesus up as King, Pilot presented Jesus to the Sanhedrin and high priest among the crowd as "their King". Told the crowd to choose to crucify "their King" or Barabbas. The Saducees and High Priest chose "their king" Jesus to be crucified and instigated the Jewish crowd to choose "their King" to be crucified..... and so the Priesthood anointed Jesus as their king in order for him to be executed. And Pilat published this fact above Jesus head at a time when Jerusalem was most crowded of Jews from all over the realm.
What this accomplished was to legalize according to Torah law Jesus' amended covenant and make irrelevant all burdensome Talmudic rules.
I think Jesus and Pilat planned it together. Neet trick on the Sanhedrin huh.

Thanking God that I came across this video! I have been doing exactly what Christ was trying to show the Religious Leaders. I am full time care giver to my mother who has Alzheimer's Disease. I have been very careful to give God His Praise and Worship...to stay in prayer...to seek Him 1st above all things...to stay in The Word...to love God with all my heart, strength, and mind, but lately I have not been giving my mother the Grace, Kindness, or Patience she NEEDS from me!! I have repented, wiped the tears away, and pulled up my spiritual 'bootstraps'!! Thank you Brandon Robbins. Shalom

Wonderful catch on Moses seat! I was elated when I heard you mention it. For years now I have tried to share how significant this point was. Today modern Christians believe the Law was done away with but that was never the case. So many misunderstand why Jesus opposed the Pharisees. It was not because they kept the Law at all. Jesus upheld the Law…and why would God who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow send His Son and say now this is all done away with. No, Jesus came and was the example and said to do as the Pharisees say when they sit in Moses’ seat because when they sat there they were only permitted to read…no side thought or opinion. The entire Bible comes together in a breathtaking beautiful way when you grasp this concept and read it all again. All the holes of modern Christianity are filled when seen through the proper context of the Scriptures.

The Chosen brought me to a deeper dive into my faith. It also makes me incredibly envious of those who lived in His time and knew Him.
To dive deep into God's truth is found in His own Words (the Holy Bible), not within a 'plausible' vehicle orchestrated by men who distort and make light of the teachings of Jesus. The chosen production is an abomination and blasphemy. If only the Church members would run to the Bible scriptures for inspiration instead of the entertainment medias.

Yes, but we have the gifting of the Holy Spirit which is also part of the Godhead, which I think is better for this world we live in. The Disciples of those days didn't get what Jesus waa saying until after the Helper was poured out in Acts. That is when the Disciples took off in their ministry - they got it, finally, what Jesus was telling them. They finally understood and went out to tell others. This time we are in, we know we may not die a physical death, as we have the opportunity to be raptured if we are saved.

The Chosen has brought me closer to faith. In the last 2 years I have been watching these videos and teachings. They suddenly appeared in my feed after I watched The Chosen season 1. I have yet to pick up a bible and read. I downloaded one to my Kindle. Maybe its time to read it.
Closer to what kind of faith? Godly faith comes from the Bible.

@@theadster2702 I neither heard nor saw anything at all to indicate that Brandon Robbins might be a “false Bible scholar” and I don’t believe you did either. I have been studying the Bible under the teaching of many different people with varying degrees of knowledge and education for over 60 years. I have developed a pretty good intuition for knowing when someone is teaching or preaching that shouldn’t be. But regardless of my personal intuition, I always rely on The Holy Spirit to provide me with the discernment to know that the person teaching me is likewise relying on The Holy Spirit to relay God’s message through him.
I am sorry you give The Chosen a thumbs down. If you feel that way maybe you shouldn’t watch videos about The Chosen.

I noticed the comments from both for and against the chosen. I can see the communication difference and that is all that’s needed in regards to the claim of “False Bible Scholar.”
@@ronbaker6981 It IS a false series....mostly made by greed. You cannot take truth and mix in falsehood to keep a viewer coming back. TOOOO many liberties were taken. God's word does not need liberties added to it to make it more interesting.
When Jesus fulfilled the law, knowing that love covers all, He did away with all of the civil and ceremonial laws but kept all the moral laws.
And of course the warning against paganism and all its sorcery stands throughout the entire Bible.

Fulfill does not mean done away. It means completed the interpretation. Not one jot or tittle shall be done away until all is fulfilled.
It mentions in the video about what was meant about fulfilling the law and it is not what you seem to think it is
Every Law and Commandment in the Bible still stands and will stand until earth is no more, none have been done away with
@@howardjohnston7376 Dear brother in Christ, the fulfilling of the New Covenant law is why we no longer recognize ceremonial or civil laws from the Old Testament or we would still be stoning women to death for adultery and such, etc. Matthew 5:18 is speaking to the New Covenant law of love covering all, not the letter.

@@cambo6911 The Torah does not state to stone only a woman caught in adultery, but the man also. The woman brought to Yeshua was caught in the act, but no man she was with was present. They were twisting the Torah to catch Messiah saying something against the Torah. Yet in doing so, he fulfilled a prophesy of writing their names in the dust. Why can't one believe in the sacrifice of Messiah and continue to obey the Torah? Messiah is the living Word of the Father, HE is the written Word made flesh and completed the understanding of what it means while HE walked this earth. Now while we may not make sacrifices, there is no physical Temple. In Revelations, we will make sacrifices and HE will be here. Shalom
@@howardjohnston7376 thank you for sharing, brother Howard, yes I am aware that it wasn't only the women who were stoned, I was simply making a point that with the New Covenant being fulfilled as love, Jesus clearly stood against their civil and ceremonial laws and with love there is simply no need of them.
See brother Howard, civil and ceremonial laws were simply outward religiosity Jesus stood against. The sacrifices of being a Christian are so very many based on morality alone could you imagine something like eating pork or shellfish coming between us and Christ? She made it quite simple when you said they will know us by our love for one another in addition to the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes, love is the law.

Sounds like you’re putting too much faith in man and men are doing nothing but lying to you can you pick out the lies? If not you need to get a concordance and a Greek expository dictionary and study with the Hastings or McLintock encyclopedia of religion and stop trusting man!

The thing the religious leaders don't believe or even understand is that Jesus Is The Word, so for Him to Explain it is merely explaining Himself.
Love how The Chosen puts us right there in Jesus's time. Very helpful with visualizing events of the Bible!

@@ericflatray4884That is so true. If you remember the movie Jesus of Nazareth from the 1970’s, the actor I believe was Robert Powell. His image as Jesus was and still is everywhere. He had the perfect image of what people believe Jesus looks like. In an interview, he said that he did not like the fact that even churches were using his image .
Maybe read the Bible, because the Bible is very different than the Jesus portrayed in the chosen
Just a note on the Archaeology study Bible on your desk, it’s the NIV, I bought it myself and found out the niv version removes every verse that proves the Divinity of Jesus…gnostic
ESV alongside a KJV w/ Strongs to lookup original Hebrew and Greek.
One gets a deeper understanding of Scripture if one understands Jewish tradition and what was referred to like “the Moses seat.” Thank you for these explanations and interpretation of what words mean. I have often wondered why Jesus folded His head cloth until I understood a Jewish tradition which was explained to me. At meals times if the people left the table and left the serviettes scrunched the servants knew they can clear the table and clean up, the meal was finished, but if the serviettes were left folded, the servants knew not to clear the table because the folded serviette was a sign to them which informed them “I am coming back.”

Thank you for pointing out that I need to hear this as much as the Pharisees and Saducees did. I know I often focus on the wrong things I certainly struggle to love my neighbor as myself, I fail at that more than I succeed. I need reminding that I stray and need to reorient myself.

So glad you added that bit about not assuming that we are always team Jesus in a scene like this. While it's true that we look to Jesus as out teacher, we are "all the characters", we are sometimes the Pharisees. Good call to keep a level head and remain humble.
Happy to have found this site. I do love it when a teacher uses the original language to explain their interpretation/facts/viewpoint/opinion. It does help me learn or me to understand easier what the HS is guiding me to. And when Jesus answers them about the best commandments out of the ten, that he gives 2 commandments only. It seems easier to follow for them. But, if you really think about it, those 2 commandments actually cover all 10 of them just not specific items this time(theft, murder, coveting). I always found that amusing since I was a teen contemplating His response. I subscribed and looking forward to learning new concepts.

I love how Jesus did use irony with the Pharisees, that his anger, sorrow, grief showed, at their arrogance and wanton nit picking, rather than humble teaching…safe to follow teaching…His Shepard heart really is so fierce and gentle, especially when sheep forget Whose they are and act like wolves. I kept thinking you’d add that verse about loving well, much and without hypocrisy….that’s exactly how Jesus loves us….and how we are called to love, HIM, each other, even enemies and ourselves.

Christ was throwing in their faces, that they MAY be giving 1/10th to the letter of the law, but that they were richer than anyone else, and withheld that from the people.. Their hearts were not giving hearts..

Oh yes, me too! It took me 50 years to get to where I wish I had been! I can say okay, I should have looked harder, pestered more ministers and pastors. I'm not convinced they knew the words and the fuller meanings in the primary languages either back then, or at least they did not give them during church and Bible Study. I did inquire about passages' meanings, I asked and nothing like this was discussed. The homilies and sermons were all based on the basic English translations. More of the pastors and self-studiers of my generation I have run into or taken note of (or stumbled across) in the past decade have learned Greek, and/or Hebrew to try and understand better. So, there's that. Pastor Brandon, using the Chosen is a wonderful vehicle for learning more about what passages are saying. I had to laugh, because the Sadducees and Pharisees are accusing Yeshua of mis-, dis-, and mal - information! At the same time, they are making the accusations it is ironic (maybe another word) that they disagree themselves for example whether there is a spiritual realm after death.
And yes- yes, the idioms! English is chock full of them, which makes it tough teaching it to non-native speaker. So why wouldn't the Samarian, Greek, Hebrew also be full of them? They change everything - Thank you!!!

I truly do enjoy watching The Chosen. This movie has given me a somewhat deeper insight into what Jesus and His followers, and the rest of the surrounding people and nations might really have been, but my only drawback is that Jesus is portrayed to be a bit too harsh at times. Yes, Jesus classified the leaders of the church as hypocrites and so on, and might have had to speak sternly to His disciples and other people, but the difference with his attacks and sternness is that He did it with LOVE, because that was the basis and foundation of His ministry. LOVE! Love for God and love for mankind.

I was just visiting my sister and brother-in-law and asked if one our members was going to start up another bible study so my brother-in-law sent him a text asking him. I’m so thirsty for this and for you to explain this has helped me especially with family members who left the Catholic faith.

Jesus also fulfilled the law by living it 100%, never breaking a commandment.
@perfectpeace00 Well, yeah, but as Brandon said, it was a common idiom of the time. Meaning fulfill didn't mean what we interpret it to mean. Yes, we can always take a verse and apply English meaning to it.
On the table, you have three books. What is the middle one? And BTW, great video. I learned something I never saw before, and I have read Matthew many times over; I'm referring to the gnat and camel statement. This also made me realize that we should never stop reading God's word. Even the best scholars (if they are wise) still learn and discover new things hidden =)

I've experienced this where I wanted to be in high seat in the church and trust me I learned my lesson and now I bow my face to the ground and say I am not worthy of you Jesus I am the lowest of the low and I will take the least thing to do in your kingdom and i will probabably make it to heaven with scorced heels . I am thankful I'm still alive and thankful you have forgiven me for my haughtiness I am worse then the worst sinner and deserve nothing at .its all about his grace and mercy nothing we can earn but a free gift from God not that we ate worthy but that we are unworthy of his love. And I kiss Jesus feet and lay everything that I am and have at his feet. I am at the lowest of my life right now but my soul is save I have nothing but Jesus and that is a I need 🙏
