  • Composed by Joe Wilson 1841 - 1875. He was the most prolific of the Geordie songwriters. These old songs give insight into our social history, our dialect and our humour in such a nice way and that is why I'm interested in them. From my album 'Geordie Roots' released in 2003.

What a cute tune this is and how charmingly you interpret it -- marvelous guitar work and vocal. It's so true that these songs from now going on a couple of centuries ago provide a vivid glimpse of their times -- and they deserve to be remembered.

Thank you. Yes a nice song typical of Joe Wilson. He wrote a lot of material (and a book with the quaint title 'songs and drolleries') and composed what is still one of the great local favourites 'Keep Your Feet Still Geordie Hinny'.
