    This video quality sucks today. Lighting was all wrong when I filmed and I was up against a rough deadline to get this done. Sorry about that! We'll have better footage at the range with this thing.

      how did you get the trench gun heat shield right up against the magazine tube ? Doesn't the tube cap have a bracket that clamps around the barrel, that should have gotten in the way of the bayonet lug ? Did you have to make a new plug for the mag tube ?

    • @booliganshootingsports
      @booliganshootingsports  Před 2 lety

      @@jamesmatthewthomas2758 the 1887 and 1897 have the same magazine tube cap with a rod that sticks out the front for the barrel clamp to grab onto. The bayonet mount slides over this rod. That was the easiest part of this build, lol

      @@booliganshootingsports Really appreciate the replay, have to say though, I have looked for the heat shield after watching this video ... and it's nowhere to be found. everywhere is out of stock or 'an original" so they want like $800 for it. can you include a link where I can actually buy a replica for my build ?

    A really cool alternate history 1887 would be like that one but without the bayonette lug, and an extended barrel.
    It would be called the "bunker blaster"
    The lore would be that the end of the barrel would be placed though a hole in the bunker, and would be shot with the barrel coming out the other end, as the action and reloading would be safe and on the other side of the hole

    I have a pw87 and I just acquired an original Winchester 1887. Maybe I will project the pw?
    In 1887, shotgun shells were Black Powder, and available in 2 ³/⁸" & 2 ¹/²". The pw87 has the same dimensions as the original. Modern shells are longer. If you hand load, you can make them in the appropriate shorter length, and it will cycle easier.

    i thought about doing this to mine before seeing the video, i'm so glad to see this has been done and i'm not a complete bozo for thinking about it! i'd probablly do a trigger job on mine as well as adding a trap recoil pad from limbsaver as well as adding removable chokes though. sad that the heatshield has gone up so much in price... waiting to see when they will be availlable... my pw87 had an off spec barrel (a 24-25'' one) so i'll have to cut it down to see if my haunch is true and that the barrel is actually badly forged (i can see the thickness variation when looking at the wals of the barrel so i can guess where the bore center is found) by the way they are made by norinco, they just use different names. mine has another writting on it since it's for canadian market.

    Yeah funny thing when winchester had him make that shotgun he tried to convince them to let him do a pump action, they insisted that he make it a lever action
    So out of spite he made it overcomplicated and not that reliable so then they would let him do the pump. That gun was originally chambered in 10ga black powder and wasn't really all that reliable then, its now been rechaimbered in 12ga and they are even less reliable due to the smaller parts a 12ga has compared to 10ga. They are neat but there is good reason these guns never took off in the commercial or military markets anywhere
