Theres a good chance they did have a snorkel since most car engines wont survive without it. There are some times where you could have no snorkel and still go through. Just not too deep.

@@GokantheHusky Its also important to know that just because a vehicle can make through a flooded stretch of road, does not mean it made it through unscathed. A car can eventually start becoming a lemon just because it was once driven though a flood in the past.

if you get the wave going and ride right behind it in the dip you can keep the wave going and be 6-8 inches deeper than your snorkel and just keep on trucking. i only know because i take my xj up a river to get to the camping site.
