Awesome work dude. Love your channel.
Glad to hear it!
It's the hunt and payoff that makes it addictive. I recently picked up an old early 90s Yamaha synth at a monthly Estate Sale my wife and I frequent. Was only $30 and flipped it for $100. I don't flip stuff very often but it's always fun!
That's a great ROI
I enjoy all your refurbish videos
I appreciate that! More of them on the way soon
I found a ludwig rockers set for 175 a week ago all original heads and hardware minus base pedal and new remo heads on snare and base drum. Also got the zildjian scimitar crash ride hats and ludwig stands with it
Nice score!
Space Percussion was my first drum kit! Waaaayyyy back in the 80's
That's great!
That was a fun video, Mike. Thank you for sharing it with us.
It was quite relatable to me, as I recently had a similar experience.
I was given an old Ludwig set, but there was no bass drum. Inside of each shell was stamped March 4, 1966. I had a snare, 12” rack tom, 13” rack tom, and a 16” bass drum. The snare was metal, and all the other drums were champagne pink. I also got a foot pedal and a hi-hat, which I held on to, as I didn’t want to mess with packing it up and shipping.
The reason I got it from bought it brand new when he was in high school and just wanted to get rid of it. He didn’t even want anything for it. He just wanted to get it out of his garage.
My son told me that he thought that I would have better luck piecing it out, which is what I did. I ended up making $1100. Not bad since I didn’t have to pay anything for it.
I tried for sometime to find a matching bass drum but never was able to locate one in that color, otherwise I probably would have kept it.
I ended up using part of that money to buy myself a nice little Mapex jazz kit for $400.00. It came as a 4 piece set with a 12” snare, 10” rack tom, 12” floor tom, and an 18” bass drum. Also included was a 5 piece set of cymbals and hardware, kick pedal, hi-hat, cowbell, and a plastic block.
It was fun and exciting going through the whole process. I still have a few drums from an old Star kit that the high school in the district where I was teaching was throwing out. I have a 13” rack tom, 16” floor tom, and a 22” bass drum. I’m not even going to attempt to sell them, as I doubt they are even worth the time.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your story, as it was an exciting one, and before I shut down, have you been following all of the AaronRodgers speculation? I really like him.
Nice, good use of an orphan kit!
Doing the same thing in New Zealand . Keep up the good work ! Really enjoy your channel ( found you while I’m searching for video re pancake kick drum )
Welcome aboard!
Nice work! I, too, flip drums/percussion. Sometimes I make a few bucks, sometimes, I cut even, sometimes I lose a small bit. I just try to keep the stuff moving if I can. It yields a decent net profit overall. It is a fun "side hustle." I try to find ways to make it more lucrative. My problem is I end up keeping the good stuff!! 🙂
Thanks for watching.
Thrifty! 👍
Thanks!
Sweet!
Thanks!
I filiping amps and cabs and other music staff, and damn i like that xD Always i find something nice to get fun with
It's fun for us gear nerds.
I flip em, paint them cool colors and gig with them. Kits customized by me are the most enjoyable to play. I haven’t bought a new set of drums in over 20 years.
I also use a lot of the drums I mod for my personal gigging kits and stuff.
Good work 👍
Thanks
Hey I am a drum flipper!
I like to remove wraps and stain with a red water based stain.
I clean hardware put new heads on make sure every thing is tight and proper.
Boom.
Tons of money restoring an old 80s pearl kit.
Keep the old ones on the road (this was thai)
I really like to see the old American made ones fixed the most.
Sounds like you have a great protocol for doing them!
@@malonedrum to be honest, drummers need to get over things like acrolytes and start realizing that if that have an old kit that looks dirty it might be made somewhere sometime at a very high quality.
Tired of people over hyping the acrolite
@@TessaAnderson IDK, the Acrolite is a great workhouse drum that you can steal get for a great deal, and should last a lifetime,
That was dope... I found a mapex voyager for $90 that i put new heads on cleaned it up and sold for $300... $150 profit
Love to see it!
What do you use for shipping? I recently discovered Pirate Ship and it's greatly reduced my shipping costs.
Carrier pigeon is my go to
An Acrolite in that condition costs 600€ in Europe...
They come up around here fairly frequently. I usually can get a deal on a few every year
@@malonedrum Let me know next time, seriously! Keystone badge are even higher than 600 usually.
@@tobiaswinter1358 I can get 2 in my area right now lol
I am from Europe and I am jealous of US prices. Used gear is so expensive here.
The 2 in my area come as a pair with no batter heads for 290
Flipin drums been colecting a stock pile to refurbish my self ..fun hobbie
Many of mine are dedicated towards projects, but plenty are just flip investments
