Although Starc has been giving away many runs and struggling to find his mojo and rhythm, he still has the ability to take important wickets and dismantle the backbone of the opponent's team. For example, he got Kohli out in the first innings of the WTC Final and has now taken the wickets of Root Stokes and Brook. This is what Mitchell Starc is known for and it is his specialty..♥️✨

But what he did invent is pretending that a national test cricket team doesn’t care about winning, that they aren’t “result focused”. In test cricket it is hard to build pressure when it is known the strike bowler can only bowl a few overs and doesn't have that really quick ball in the armoury.

Highly unfair on Aus. This English weather. Every time they come to bat it gets gloomy and every time Eng come to bat it gets bright. If Aus had enjoyed similar conditions like Eng, they could have won both tests comfortably. Eng have been outrageously lucky to even stay in the contest. Aus are the best test team in the world by a wide margin, Eng 2nd best and an aging Ind 3rd best (though Ind are the worst manager of its resources else except off-spin resources they have everything else by the plentiful; had they managed their resources better and planned and prepared well they could have won every test series since 2018 but their arrogance let them down time and again and now they are going to slide even down unless or until next generation of batters step up). Once Anderson and probably Stokes retire after the Ashes (I imagine Broad can play another year) we probably will see some changes in Eng team (for better or worse). I think Eng has plenty of quality Medium Fast English style bowlers; they won't miss Anderson or Broad that much. The biggest problem in international test cricket is how much Pak, SL & SA have deteriorated in the last 5 years.

Just looks at Jaiswal, Gaikwad, Gill, Tilak Varma plus Pant, Sundar, Axar. They just look all format superstars. But it's Indian test team, perennial underachievers, terrible selections and plenty of arrogance of BCCI without any vision and planning. However, I think Eng is the second best team in the world by a distance over India since the non-performing oldies (Rahane, Kohli, Rohit) are still around.
