    Thanks for introducing me to the Background Eraser Tool. Not a bad job, but like 99% of hair extraction tutorials, the model is on a plain background. The final image on the white background looks just fine, but I don't think your cut out would look quite so impressive if you had placed the model on a deep blue or dark grey fill layer instead of the orange / white ones, which are kind of masking the limitations of the tool.

  • @McLee
    @McLee Před 7 lety +34

    Better to use mask layer and brush tool. We can't get it back once we found some error!
    And this is not working for complicated background. But anyway this is one of way to cut it out.

    Thank you for the tip! I'm trying to perfect removing background on Sterling Silver Jewelry, conbined with pearls and other semi-precious stones. They are kind of challenging and it takes a long time for each image. But, any tutorial on mastering that this jewelry are would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again!

    Hello! I used the same settings as you on my CS5 but when I begin to paint over the background with my "background eraser tool" it won't do the same thing yours is doing. It stays the same somewhat. What am I doing wrong?

    • @ForeverDansky
      @ForeverDansky  Před 7 lety

      Hey Carolina, my settings are tuned for this specific image. If you adjust the settings like tolerance, and the method of erasing (discontiguous etc) you'll be able to find what works best for you image. Kind of trial and error, become familiar with the Undo feature until the settings cut out the background effectively. Hope this helps :)

  • @Eigil_Skovgaard
    @Eigil_Skovgaard Před 4 lety +1

    I think I have watched an earlier similar tutorial from your hand, also with an evenly gray background of good contrast. I understand why you stay comfortably away from the residual problems with separation of hair from a background - not least from busy backgrounds which are more common.
    The persisting problem is with stray hair that have obtained a hue very close to the hue of the background. While the human eye can distinct between hair and background, the tools in Photoshop will not distinct between glare with an identical hue adjacent to the hair and the hair itself. Our brain knows which part is hair and which part is glare due to patterns, the tools doesn't, because guiding structures and the concept of "hair" is unknown to the machine, and AI is still a small town in Russia. I am not very patiently waiting for the perfect tool.
