Where the vehicle is able to head back to a depot for overnight charging to be ready for the next day's work. Public charging network for heavy duty traffic is many, many years to come. EV trucks isn't for OTR operators. But for operators doing day jobs as I mentioned before. Perfect for when you're driving between depots, to/from harbors, along with city deliveries where you're making multiple stops and not driving that long of a distance each day.
How much of the 82,000 lbs is cargo? How much is truck, and how much is trailer? If the trailer is made from 25,000 lbs of extra batteries, it isn't that impressive. Can they even fill the trailers with chips? Probably not, and they are mostly air.
I think you seem more like a space cadet than a trucker. The semi is not meant to be for all applications just like all other truck mfr's lines. The worry about distance will diminish as supercharger infrastructure grows much as Tesla's car charger network started with a few locations and has grown to thousands. When the Tesla Optimus starts driving, there will be no need for cab amenities or sleepers. They will need to recharge themselves but not sleep.
If you want to go from one side of the country to the other on one fuel stop and quickest amount of time. This may be a shocker. We already can do that and it also happens to the quickest. Introduce to you the majestic 747 Boeing. Earth shattering mind blowing! If musk said its regional and not international its a good bet its only regional and will not be able swim oceans.

So obviously it's only fit for day drivers.
Tesla semi 20 MPGe, diesel semi 7 MPG. Drivers must stop every 8 hours for a 30 minute break, this allows for some convenient charging.
