Because of the location that its going to be installed in a spot where it won't be easily seen, I will be purchasing the raw aluminum unit to save $100.00. If it were being installed in a more forward and more easily accessible location, I would be happy to spend the extra funds for the black powder coating.

The truck still consumes the oil it just ends up in the catch can now

That's like saying I am eating a dozen donuts if I stick them in my pocket. The engine is no longer consuming the oil, it may be losing the oil but for sure not consuming it. That's the big save right there. There's no way to stop the oil loss, just a design thing, at least it's not getting burned now.

Terrible analogy. But i get your point and understand the engineering. But the truck is still using up a resource which is the definition of consumption. Catch can or no catch can it’s using up a resource. That oil isn’t going back into the bottom end.

      @@Vacationland019 it’s a great analogy ! It’s still not “using a resource” it’s losing it.

@@Vacationland019you don’t want it going back into the oil pan-it picks up condensate along the way, so if it goes back into the pan, it’s bringing water along with it.

Are you aware the price went up substantially?
When it was first announced, it was either $330 or $350, can’t remember which. Now it’s $400 for plain aluminum and an additional $100 for black-that seems steep. If I get one of these, I think it will be some black paint over the plain to make it less conspicuous.

Going by memory, yes, I believe the price went up. I would assume that was more of an intro price and the realization of the item costing more to produce than expected or giving the early adopters a chance to get in for less.
