All i want to see is that Rotary Corvette go on Hoonigan's This VS That and clap the cheeks of an LS swapped RX7 just to prove a point! 😂
Considering how shitty the matches are (in terms of ptw ratios or setups) it would probably be unfair for the vette lol
@@papasouzas9703 Eh, sometimes they get good matches, and that race most likely will be vs Suppy's RX7 with an stock LS3 engine 😅
Prove what point though?
@@williambranco7710 that an ls doesn't belong in an rx7
(Why people are stupid enough to swap that pos on an rx7 that has a way better engine?)
@@williambranco7710 v8 suck?
Can’t wait till they finish all of these cars just so Rob can go out and do more driving! You can tell he really loves getting behind the wheel and pushing the cars! Love to see it!
We don't say the "f" word.
@@ctlaurin 😂🤣😂 Genuinely bust out laughing at this! You know what I mean though !! Haha
Not a rotary guy but Rob is changing my thought pattern video at a time
Jesus Take the Wheel was written about Rob.
Some tips for driving faster on the track
Never hand over hand unless absolutely necessary
Keep hands 9 and 3 almost all times
Lock arms when making turns instead of taking hands off the wheel
Try and make the tightest part of your turn hit the apex and roll into the throttle easier when accelerating out
Shorten up your braking zones and keep them as straight as a line as possible
Shift gears less and find the right gear/gears for the track for each car.
Racings fun have a blast love your work been following the 4 Rotor since damn near the beginning
So frustratingly slow. The whole track is his brake zone. He's already braking coming off the apex of the previous turn.
his hand placement on the wheel is awful, very good tips here.
good advices here
@@jordonboring3729 y'all, he's a builder not a pro driver. The original comment was informative and helpful, the judgment is just catty. Driving technique is great, but his whole brand is crazy vehicle building and he's good at it. Let him go out and enjoy his creations, he even stated that the whole point here was mostly to have a good time.
And don’t decelerate through half-3/4 of a turn clutched in while down shifting and just pedal braking.
Man... I knew that C5 was gonna be a beast from the beginning! Even argued with people in the YT comments about it quite a few times because they all thought what you were doing was gonna be stupid. Glad you stuck with it! Can't wait till the C8 officially joins the Dorito crew! 😂
8 rotor c8 😳
@@AlexZanderMuro an 8 rotor would be like 4ft long
Most people haven't a clue what the dorito engine power is, what the engine is... and live off preconceived notions spouted by idiots who do nothing but regurgitate their own preconceived notions based on the fact that they're incompetent and are either shit owners for a rotary car or shit mechanics working on a rotary car.
US has a very deep history when it comes to cars that are above the level of a bang and bucker, basic V8. Every car that had more than that has been demonized by the lazy mechanics and rumor mill without a single clue to reality.
This engine can be very reliable, if it has the exact amount of care put into it, so it's not for every Joe at the bollocks mechanical shop.
@@notstonks20 could be both rear and mid engine at the same time 😎

"This car FUCKS"
-Rob Dahm 2022
I think the more time Rob gets behind the wheel on good tracks the quicker he will become. The C5 has so much potential well done Rob
Having seen so much building for so long it was incredible to see a video with tons of driving and happy endings.
Never clicked a Rob video so fast
Love that it has spacers like that. It's almost like they wanted you to be able to take them out. Basically screams, "hey, take this out when you track it"
The 4-Rotor would be the perfect base to start developing active aero components...
He does all he development on the other cars before putting in into the 4 rotor
if something else breaks it just kinda sucks, if the 4 rotor breaks it's a massive loss
Rotary Vette is for real my favorite car in your fleet. The new exhaust sounds so so sweet too.
That car per firms!
Robs out here playing forza in real life 😂 you deserve it for all the hard work!
I'd highly recommend going to a driving school like Skip Barber or similar. I think you'd really get a lot of of it!!
I really want to know more about the firewall situation on the 4 rotor. Part of me is actively dreading the day that it takes the wrong kind of hit and the thumbnail is flames. With that much power and so much development left, a crash seems like more of a 'when' than 'if'. Touch wood
the firewall just protects the inside from any fire in the engine or fueltank area.
it wont make a difference between the car getting destroyed or not, only if Rob will go down with it.
But even then the top quality fire suit helps some
@@ValentineC137 Fair comment, I should have been more clear, I'm worried about Rob in the case that there's a fire. That fuel tank is a few metres behind him and there's nothing but air between them
That track is awesome , just wish these were everywhere like local skateparks.
That’s exactly what the cars (and Rob) needed, is track time.
Love the old RX4 wagon too 😍
thanks thats my wagon
@@Jonny2toes awesome! They are few and far between these days.
I’ve had two RX4 Coupes over the years.
Wow! This is what I've been waiting for for so many years! Seeing these builds run like the wind through the turns :D
Too bad the 4 rotor would get kicked off the track at laguna Seca for being too loud. It would be epic to see Rob run some laps and hand it over to Randy Pobst to see what he could do 👍
I don't think that Randy would be very eager to drive this car without a firewall!!
Randy Pobst to analyze these cars would be awesome. He wouldn't have clutch depressed in the corners unsettling them and pick efficient lines and use proper braking. In two laps he would have great ideas on race tuning the suspension, brakes, sequential shift points, etc...
@@abesynthe1156 He might! Rob has had a professional driver in the car before, Billy Johnson, who gave him some pointers. Obviously it would help to have a pro shake the car down. But Rob wants to do it how he wants to do it- ultimately it's his car, and we are just here along for the ride.
it warms my heart to know that youre finally able to experience the payoff from all your hardwork! keep building that momentum on the builds, ive never been more excited for your vids to drop
This is one of those videos I wish I could like on YT over a thousand times. Keep this excellent content coming guys. Muck love from the UK.
I took go-karts around that place this recent summer. I can officially say I've been on the same track as Rob Dahm!
Love it! Welcome to Colorado, Rob!
My man finally has a good seat time car (C5). Happy for you Rob, lots of time invested in this.
I'm not a racer by any means but I've noticed one thing Rob. Your hands are very busy on the steering wheel. You will no doubt get better feel for what the car is doing if you keep your hands clocked at 3 and 9 more. Heavy turns cannot be helped but there is many times where you're trying to juggle with the wheel. I hope this helps brother. Keep up the great content.
Gavin
I love seeing unique vehicles on the track! The RV @8:16 was a perfect example!
Rob.... there is a flooded McLaren P1. How does it look to swap a 4 rotor in that body?
Impossible battery is a component of the chassis as it is hybrid
@@jd_official not if you dump the whole drivetrain
@@jd_official 1) Complete drive train swap 2) The awd 4 rotor is a complete tubular chassis. Don't you think they can handle the removal of the battery?
@@jd_official Also there are another challenges. Like the suspension, rear spoiler and power steering are components of the same hydraulic system. They can solve that. The thing sure can be lighter than a stock P1.
Your dash HUD on the 4 rotor is awesome! It looks like a video game but tells you only what you need to see. Clean and efficient!
I swear I just love that RX7 man. Cant wait to see it with all the body panels on it.
I can see how excited you are specially after all that hard work. I even got excited for you 🤣. Keep it up!
Love the content. Keep it going.
Damn that is wild!! Dorito in old Corvette outperforms mid engine Corvette. Must be the tires.
Aaaaaaaaand now you know why the C8 Corvette has two different factory alignment specifications (one for the street, and one for the track). ^_^
Thanks as always for the fun videos!
Love seeing you getting those cars on the track
love your mirror from year to year!
A small suggestion, that steering wheel doesn't suit your steering ratio for the tight cornered track use you are putting it to. Pause at 12:59, you can see you get to a point where you need to overhand and re-grib the wheel, but with a flat bottom wheel doing that (Me personally anyway in my vehicle with a flat bottom wheel) its super uncomfortable and scary when you have to grab the flat side of the wheel in a fast reflex driven maneuver. Try out a full wheel, I bet you will prefer it :)
yeah, i know nothing about these things. but i also noticed that and personally prefer round wheels unless you have tiny lock to lock wheel rotation.
He just needs to change the steering ratio really
@@dylanzrim3635 a new wheel is usually easier haha especially when its quick release. And I'm sure he has a few
Duuuuuude, I would love to see you get a quick-steer kit for the C5 so you could power through those little add-end kickouts! not like a crazy 65+ degrees angle kit, but more like 45-50 degrees of angle vs the stock
Yeah, for sure "mess up ackermann" is definitely an application-dependent judgment, most big-angle kits are intended for drift where your ackermann needs will be different from track ackermann most of the time. Some corners (especially long, fast ones) actually benefit from negative ackermann which some drifters prefer though, so idk maybe not so different in all cases?
@@LifeInJambles in my experience zero ackermann on most cars make them feel very 'fork lift-y', in that they dont self-steer as much when drifting & are horrible if you don't also mess with caster to dial in the feel, but you can throw backies & the car will hold angle without pulling you into the inner corner as much.
But yeah, mainly what I meant by saying "mess it up" is"'it doesn't cause a significant average ackmann delta* vs stock when compared to big-angle kits vs stock"
* = Average value of |stock ackermann angle - modified ackermann| throughout the range of the suspension's motion
@@LifeInJambles they are horrible for everything besides drifting***
He should get NOS for more speed on the straights LUL
Ayy, congratulations on 1M subscribers!!!
That rotory Corvette is my favorite car of yours. it's awesome to see it perform so well.
Love these notifications every time!
Always a good day when I new video drops!
This is so incredible to watch
Every video is almost track time now! Lovin it Rob! You'll soon be a driver to match the cars! Not saying you can't drive, I just want to see the 4 rotor pushed to it's limits :)
“This Car Fu cks” 😅😂😂 that C5 will decimate all at race wars 😂❤
C5 has been my favorite build so far!
Rob I love your cars, and you build and I've been a long time fan. Armchair racecar driver opinion here, but your gears always seem so short in the 4 rotor, and I feel with longer gears you'll be able to get into your throttle sooner without having to worry about oversteer, and then you'll spend less time between gears getting into the corners.
With a transmission geared for road racing, you want those gears as close as you can reasonably get them while still having the car drivable at low speeds, at least with a full sequential setup like he has, to keep the car in the power band as much as possible. I think this is more a case of him not really having the throttle control to manage the absurd amount of power the 4-rotor can make off of corners. Increasing the power sent to the front wheels would solve that issue, bit right now he's got a staggered set of wheels on and he doesn't want to send too much power to the front out of fear of cooking the AWD clutch pack.
Armchair mechanic here too, rotary torque is different from normal car torque
He also rides the clutch too much. He shouldn’t be coming into turns riding the clutch dropping the engine rpm to idle and controlling the car with just the brake pedal and no engine drag.
Certified dumbass here, torque is torque regardless of how it’s generated. As far as I know, his rotary still holds 90% or more of its torque from a reasonably low RPM all the way up to redline. What 3000-4000 RPM? That’s still cruising RPMs for a rotary.
@@griffinfaulkner3514 I understand road racing would call for close gears, but do we not feel that a 1200hp 800ftlb car that operates mainly on the track...is more of a proper track car? I don't mean that to start an argument, I am just saying with how the man actually uses the car I personally disagree. Not my car, my not choice and I love all he does
Also i'm waiting when you start pulling heel/toe mid-throttle while braking (keeping the revs up) cause that shits going to sound lit.
7:20 man has a style all his own. I love it 🤣 just before that I thought he was wearing some kind of dress 😂 thought it was the end result of a lost bet or something. Love you guys!
Man, every time I where my Dahm shirt you post a video. Gonna start wearing it more often 😂
Looked like a lotta fun!
Thanks for the shout out man!
So sick to see these cars being tested. Thank you for always sharing your thoughts on testing too. Love these videos. Just you and the car learning one another. Nothing fake just raw experience.
I like the 350z casually drifting in front of them lol
I didn’t know you were at IMI that’s awesome! We take the University of Colorado Formula SAE car there sometimes. It’s a small track but it’s great for that car and the tight turns are a great way to learn proper technique and finding the line
You should warm the car up on factory 9 heat range plugs and then swap in the NGK race plugs. The 6725’s are easy to foul on cold starts. Helped a lot with my breaking up issues.
The "This car F*cks" made my laugh so hard but it is completely true :D
That shifter arm is up sooo high… the point of the long arms in most track cars is to get it next to the wheel so you don’t have to reach down, not reach up 😂
the good old jump on it suspension test! Works surprisingly well, for a dirt track car (-8
Me in the viper Z trying to run away from everyone chasing me 😅😅
Am I watching the right video? I don’t see any uhaul trailers? All your hard work has paid off. Love the content ❤
When he said “this car fucks” I lost it lmao. We love you rob
The C8 kinda looks like a mclaren f1 livery at least the colors.
Great video we see the fun you guys had. More to come i hope!!!
It's going to kool to see the fab guy, Isaiah. I believe. When his rx8 is done. Awesome. They will have a really interesting fleet of vehicles.
Hold up , 28:25 Did you just say perfirm 👌🤣 , loving every bit and really proof in the pudding to what you guys have accomplished by just physically pushing limits , learning from it and actually applying that knowledge correctly to real world scenarios , very rarely that it would be more dramatic seeing the outside view of a car going round a track , seems so well set up and very controlled driving aswell in the POVs , not just the cars doing the work and effortless driving doesn't apply here so don't get yourself down by saying you could go faster with a better driver , possibly yes but you know that it just takes some time to learn a new field of expertise and can bet that there would be a lot of driver experience needed to even be driving half the way you are bro , so definitely think you shouldn't give yourself bad credit for saying yeah I'm not much of a driver 🤣 , anyway , can't get enough of your content man , you deserve a dedicated series like the kind top gear was back while I was a teenager ,use to sit all day binge watching
This definitely just started as a joke but man the potential in this car is huge.
imi is a ton of fun on bikes, im out there quite frequently. if youre here for a bit id suggest highplains raceway in deer trail, its probably one of the best tracks in colorado, but dont know their car days coming up
ANYONE ELSE WANNA SEE KEN BLOCK DRIVE THIS CAR?
Hey man good show like watching . Hey for your trailer ramps , get a couple of light floor Jacks and extend ramp 4 ft. Put jacks at hinged extention . I bet that will help getting low cars off and on the trailer
It's fun to see in the c8 on board recording show whenever the traction control holds back the car. Still an amazing drive though
25:53 “This cars fucks” new Rob Dahm shirt idea
been watching your channel for years now, i enjoy every video and how in depth it goes but you really need to look into some driving courses your hand placement was just killing me. still a fan though 🤣
more of this please
Hey Rob, hope you'll read this.. mentioned this when SimpliSafe first sponsored you... this is a "simple" safe system... not an actual security system. If it's all (you're just) relying on wifi it can be so easily disabled by a $20 wi-fi jamming device, when you have $100,000+ behind your doors it's not a matter of if, but a matter of when some professional crew will jam it, walk through the door, and swipe your stuff... I really hope your warehouse has some kind of backup system, ideally one that uses cable, telephone and satellite for fallback so you can at least be alerted to anything funny going on, ideally on a secondary power line / ups supply not affected by basic jamming tools or power cuts!!!!
Ya need to get some paddles and an air shift system, keep the stick for fun times but for track stuff being able to keep your hands on the wheel 100% is always better, at least imho.
i love your videos
The C5 zo6 chassis is arguably one of the best road course platforms ever. They are capable of taking down most modern sports cars on a road course with ease
So funny to see Rob unable to decide how he wants to steer. Shuffle steer, crossing over hands, or crossing his arms, all in just a few corners.
it's so weird to see rob at the track where i started racing, i know every inch of imi lol
My mustang is like that c5 no heavy engine just 4 cylinder turbo power Svo mustang thanks for the great videos 👍
Those were some test drive on play station one vibes hard core I loved it lol
Very cool!
Turned that thing into a beast
You could use the temperature controller on the dash for a boost wheel. So you can change the power ond the track without programming
4 rotor needs to get off those drag radials asap for more track testing
All hail the DahmiCorn!!
Best way to make sure your shop is safe is to show youtube how the security works lol
He said, “this car f*cks”😂

My first time doing an autocross event I actually signalled on one of my turns lol . Man I felt stupid .
Badass! Can't wait to se the 4 rotar really dialed in and hit the track with the carbon panels and everything so it looks like a car. I used to be a v8 guy to the core but you made me a rotary fan and boosted boiz made me a honda motor fan lol still hate fwd though 🤣 just not a fan of understeer and torque steering.
The MP4-12C is my dream car. Even tho it had a 1990s Nissan V8 aka the engine from the Nissan R390.
dahm, that's smooth
AHHH, Validation! Feelsgoodman
I love the C5 version, it just looks so purpose build for speed, just no nonsense, if I would ever want to see a supercar converted to electric, it would be that one.
Man, IMI is my home track for Moto! sad I didnt get to randomly run into Rob. If you're ever in CO again, I've got a house 12 minutes away from IMI that has plenty of space for a trailer if you need a spot to store it overnight!
Ayyy papi what is with @fabricationfather flow! LMAO
Oh yeah ,,,, Good day out !!
Perfect timing. Get home from work, make a meal, and have something to watch. Thanks Rob
