issue is, his fans demographic is 18-42 year old women that arent comedy fans.
He went from being a nobody to ultra famous overnight, undoubtedly due to his marketability being handsome and whatnot.
he knows it though, and in response said joke he knew wouldnt land with that crowd in what IMO was an attempt to cement himself as a real comedian, and get rid of some of those types of fans
