Calling the Adeptus Mechanicus steam punk is some high level heresy right there, they are more cyberpunky.

They don't really match in any genre tho, mechanical check, electronicly and mechanicly enhanced check, using steam nope, using high tec machinary check in terms of their god damn robots and cyborgs so check, probably not steam punk, not cyber punk either... machinepunk ? If there is such a thing.

Yeah I can see why you call them shizo tech but compared to their imperium counter parts they use less of that trope, due to their constant discoveries of the old tech. But hell did the humanity go to shit after the iron men.

Random Hypothesis that's probably not true but would be kind of awesome if it was true:
The Omnissiah turns out to be a super AI or machine spirit of some sort that the Emperor himself created during the Dark Age of Technology very long ago, possibly using the C'tan shard of the void dragon. He gave it a personality based on his own, so the people claiming that it's the Emperor are arguably correct.
Praise be the Onmissiah and all of his grand scientific creations!
The Adeptus Mechanicus are the one I can relate the most too.
I was the "Chief" on a boat, can't say what type, in the Marines and after a while being surrounded by all these big engines and pipes and stuff you really start to feel like it's alive.
That the whole boat was one big living thing and the engine room being the chest cavity and the bridge being the brain and stuff.
And pretty soon you start to talk to the machines and treat the machine like they have feelings.....
You stop referring to the ship as The Ship and start calling it Her....

It is really strange and people find it hard to believe.

But I think it has to do with that my life was dependent on the ship to work, if it failed I could die.

The AdMech is a weird case for me, they are the ones I can relate the most and simultaneously the ones I can relate the least.
I am studying to becoming a biomedial engineer, and I love machinery and I love being able to tinker with it. The union between flesh and metal is something that utterly fascinates me.
But at the same time, I love putting my creative spin on machinery. For every project I take part to, I ask myself "what if we do this new thing with it?". It got to the point that me and another friend started talking about the assignments of that day (it had something to do with magnetic bottles) and ended up making a project for a plasma cannon. For the Mechanicus to have all that cool stuff and not tinker or experiment with it is something of a huge waste for me.

Whoa, I only got to 1:30 before stoping. The mechanicus does not consider the emperor the living embodiment of the machine god. He is the Omnimessiah. The scientist supreme because no one in Mars we'd say they know more about tech then the emperor.

Well they do have a fair few defenses against EMPs and stuff, although it would be pretty devastating. I believe the Sicarians have a grenade like that though.
And in a alternate Warhammer universe the Fabircator General of Mars is a living meme machine, examples of his wisdom are: banana pulp is excellent for libricating cogwheels banana pulp or my nipples are pill dispensers, or the ever hilarious but cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (warning fabircator general has malfunctioned, self destruct has been inishiated.)

I believe in the book "Priests of Mars" it is described as unpleasant shrieking sounds. The wiki says "It is actually a form of binary machine code that is comprised of bursts
of non-random static emitted through the cybernetic implants". I always imagined it to sound like the sounds the Geth make in the Mass Effect trilogy.

How do the Adeptus Mechanicus upkeep a population if they're mostly machine? Do their women just remain mostly human or do they just convert regular citizens(this seems like a horrible idea imo)?
They reproduce, as long as its biologically possible (they start off as normal humans and its the individuals choice if, when and how they augment themselves). Whats helpful is that due to their augmentations etc. (bioengineering as well) they have extended lifespans, up to 1000 years. And since they don't have many casualties due to the use of battle-servitors and so on (which are made mostly from "non-mechanicum citizen") and opposed to the imperium, viewing their folk as not expandable, they actually dont need that much offspring to keep up a stable population.
If normal citizen (aka non mechanicum offspring) can become tech-priests, i dont know, would take away some of the superior-elitist touch, so probably not ;-)
