Damn man. I use to do 2a yoyoing contests probably 12 years ago or so. And man, have things changed. Wow. I remember when doing simple tricks as double shoot the moons crossovers with reverse punching bags was awesome. These tricks are just off the chain. If I got back into yo-yoing now I'd have a lot to learn....Wow
I 100% am with Ian on this one. Whereas Takuma's tricks are extremely technically difficult, Shu's showmanship makes him a more entertaining person to watch compete, in my mind at least. Both were incredible performances by talented players. Yoyoing isn't all about the tricks on a competition stage, that's what sport ladder is for.
He only lost because of his tech points. Takuma had 60.762 and Shu only had 49.894 but he beat takuma in all the other evaluations and still got close with 2.5 point difference!
I will say this. Shu is a lot better at covering up and having a fall back for his mistakes. There are a couple but he is so smooth you dont get the chance to notice
Also, we are in a day in age where 35% of the freestyle is attributed to performance, and the deductions are taken heavily into the final score. It's not the athleticism that should have won the contest, it's the amazing performance, and cleanliness. Takuma's tricks are technically very difficult, but in my opinion Shu's performance made up for any spot where his tricks do not stack up technically, and did his tricks cleaner, whereas Takuma also made a few mistakes. WORK HARD PLAY HARD =)
Yeun Joo Huh You say something like this just because you haven't read the marking sheet.Have you read the marking sheet?Takuma gets 60 in technique, while shu gets 49.Creativity is not the only thing to choose a winner.More trick=higher technique mark.Although shu is more creative than Takuma, but rules are rules, you have to obey it. Sometimes it is about speed.
[...simple vertical and horizontal tricks just does not appeal as much as they did in the past.] I think there is more to yoyoing than we know. We don't need back flips yet to appeal to the audience...But of course that's still hard.
you guys need to understand. this is a yoyo contest. just cause he do fancy backflips doesnt mean alot. its about the fcking yoyo skill. Takuma did harder tricks. imo its unfair to grade people by their athleticism in a yoyo contest... so in a yoyo contest fat people who cant do flips or do behind the back is automatically out cause other people can do this. for his creativity, most of his original tricks are relatively easy. ufo with loop da loop...
But I don't want to be rude. I'm sure he reads this. I like both of them. Shu has always awesome show and some of his tricks are very good, too. Mainly because he has some cool innovational tricks. I don't like Takuma's choice of music, and his freestyles are interesting only for people who can understand 2A, that's bad.
lol w.e u guys say... this is like me when hiroyuki suzuki wins top 3 at anything.. i dont think he deserves it, but anyway.. im not saying that hes bad. its just annoying how u guys hype up shu.. "oh shu should have won, blah blah blah"... cmon, let other people have a chance at the spotlight... and first of all, i said that its not fair to judge people with their athleticism, i didnt say it doesnt take skill... why people gotta twist my words.
His creativity is what makes this routine so dope.
I have seen yoyo videos where the person is like a machine, but this guy really has the spirit. Very cool.
its 2018 but I still lovehis performance

Suddenly I regret choosing to play piano rather then yoyo when I was a kid
I love it when it looks like he’s doing around the world but he’s actually 2 hand looping super fast
Physical strength, originality, performance …He won in all.
Song : David Guetta - Play Hard (Ft. Ne-Yo & Akon)
One of my favorite players, he has fun with his performances and he has good execution. No Shinji Saito but he is just nice to watch.
its supposed to be a loop 1080 but its not labeled as a 1080. No one knows, it could be a custom color made for japan only.
i just LOVE how easy these guys make it LOOK! xD

You can tell he's having a good time.
Can Shinji do a backflip?
These guys are fast as the wind . I need to see this in slow motion .
I will say this. Shu is a lot better at covering up and having a fall back for his mistakes. There are a couple but he is so smooth you dont get the chance to notice

Holy shit!
He's definitely much better than others. He should've won the first prize.
shu takada rules

Doesn't matter what the scorecard says, I think we all know who was number one as far as the crowd were concerned.
he is my favorite :D

Anybody know if the song is a specific remix of Play Hard or did he just speed it up?
I enjoyed watching this more than Takuma. I'm a mostly lay observer, but great job!
1080? I look the center color yellow
wait how did he do the backflip with glasses on?
who agrees with me that Shu should have won instead of Takuma
+Yeun Joo Huh TOTALLY SHOULD HAVE WON
TOTALLY AGREED

David Guetta - Play Hard

do the skatey thing tech marks exist, winners aren't chosen based on only their stage performance/creativity.
Wow he was robbed
The guy won his trick it more technical
